Sending Happy Thoughts 27

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, March 23, 2016 @ 11:00 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! Today I have a tag to share for the March More Than Words Mini Challenge. This month, we are challenging you to create a card, tag or ATC featuring the word "Happy". We must SEE the actual word. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to join along! For complete details, please visit the More Than Words Challenge blog.

I created a mixed media style card that I made for my sweet sister Marlene, who is scheduled to have a bilateral mastectomy along with reconstructive breast surgery today. She has completed 12 weeks of chemotherapy and is thankfully cancer free as of now :) Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
I added lots of texture using various mediums including texture paste, Distress embossing powder, crackled paste and crackle paint:

Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the More Than Words Challenge blog for loads of inspiration and for complete details!
Be Sweet ;)

Creativity takes Courage... 33

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, October 13, 2015 @ 8:18 AM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Today I have a couple of art journal pages to share featuring a variety of products and techniques.
I was inspired by Gayle's beautiful art journal pages that may be found here. I was going for a watercolor look but ended up stamping and painting the face using acrylics. Obviously lots of room for improvement! practice, practice, practice...
There are so many layers and various techniques such as collaging, stenciling, painting, stamping, etc...

I'm joining along with the following challenges:
Craft Stamper Take it, Make it Challenge "Take a Technique" and use one or more of the following processes in your art: Ink Stitch Paint Collage Print Paper(and include stamping somewhere!)
the Mixed Media Place Creative Gym challenge where the theme is: Proverbs & Sayings: I stamped "Creativity takes Courage"
for color inspiration, the Scrap Around The World challenge. I was inspired by the aquas, blues, purples and yellows:
and Kim Dellow's Show Your Face challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure to stop by tomorrow to see a project I created as a guest designer for Gina's Designs.

Hi there! Today I have a few holiday projects to share featuring beautiful patterned papers from the Pion Design Days of Winter collection. What's not to love about those pretty pastel shades of pinks and blues?
I made two similar greeting cards, one pink:

and one blue:

I also made a couple of tags using the same pretty papers from the Days of Winter collection. First up is the pink version:

and last but not least, is the blue version:

For the card inspiration, I joined along with the retro sketches sketch challenge:

Believe 31

Mona Pendleton | Friday, October 31, 2014 @ 1:05 AM | , , , , , ,

Happy Halloween to all those who celebrate! Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo that I shared a few weeks ago of Meredith all dressed up in her Halloween costume as a Woodland Tree Fairy. She took part in a costume contest and took third place :)
Here she is in full color :) She made up her hair but needed my help painting nearly her entire body green. She looked like Shrek's daughter ;) Today after school, we are going to do it all over again for her costume party tonight!
I think the black and white photo turned out just as pretty :)

To make this layout, I used beautiful 7 Dots Studio patterned papers. I added lots of texture using a Prima wood grain stencil, texture paste
and 13 arts glass beads:
I embellished with flowers from my stash and various die cuts:
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the sketchabilities Sketch challenge:
and for color inspiration, I joined along with the colour me...! color combination on the left:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a fun and safe weekend!

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, October 22, 2014 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! Today I have a layout to share featuring Pion Design's newly released ~ the gorgeous My Beloved Son collection:
I scrapped a photo of my beloved son Jerry who has been working towards his private pilot license. This photo was taken in the cockpit before they took off for a flight lesson :)

I layered various patterned papers all from the My Beloved Son collection to create the background and mat the photo:
I layered the fun tag on other die cut tags, stitched around the perimeter, embellished with several fussy cut butterflies along with a sentiment:
I embellished with a trio of homemade flowers and fussy cut printed flowers all made using papers from the My Beloved Son collection as well:
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current Sketchabilities sketch challenge:
