Making Butter and Tattoo's

Sorry about not posting over the weekend. I was in Chicago getting a tattoo. More about that tomorrow :P Before I left I made homemade butter, it was very easy. The taste is wonderful. Take a look at this video, you can have fresh butter tomorrow. I will be getting ready for the Dubuque Farmers Market that starts this coming Saturday. A few more items to finish and I need to price alot of things. Check back tomorrow for pictures of my tattoo.

Homemade Laundry Soap

I have been making soap for a couple of years now, but have never made laundry soap. Here a recipe I have heard good things about. I am going to give it a try today. Liquid Laundry Detergents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3 Pints Water 1/3 Bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated 1/2 Cup Washing Soda 1/2 Cup Borax 2 Gallon Bucket 1 Quart Hot Water Cold Water Mix Fels Naptha soap in a saucepan with 3 pints of water, and heat on low until dissolved. Stir in Washing Soda and Borax. Stir until thickened, and remove from heat. Add 1 Quart Hot Water to 2 Gallon Bucket. Add soap mixture, and mix well. Fill bucket with cold water, and mix well. Set aside for 24 hours, or until mixture is gelled. Use 1/2 cup of mixture per load.

Greek Lemon Chicken in the Crock pot

This is the best !! 2 1/2 to 3 lbs chicken 1 tsp dried oregano 2 tsp minced garlic 2 TBS butter 1/4 cup lemon red potatoes quarted 1/3 cup italian dressing rub chicken and potatoes with salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic spray crock pot add chicken and 1/3 water add potatoes add italian dressing and lemon cook for 6-8 hours on LOW

Hummus Dip

This was one of the munchies served at the party this weekend. It is so good I think it can be a meal by it's self. Hummas Dip Hummus I used the classic Olive Tapenade or Muffuletta drained Mild Gardniera drained Feta Cheese crumbled Layer in this order, make sure you drain the tapenade and gardniera well Serve with chips or crackers

I made this a couple of days ago. I added more vinager and salt I also used organic sugar. Spinach tortellini With Beans and Feta

Spinach tortellini With Beans and Feta 1 9oz refrigerater cheese-filled spinach tortellini 1 15oz can cannellini (white kidney) drained and rinsed 3/4 cup crumbled feta --- 3 oz spinkled with garlic powder and italian season 2 TBSP olive oil 1 large tomato, chopped ground pepper 4 cups baby spinach fresh Cook tortellini, drain and return to pan add drained beans, feta, and olive oil to tortellini cook over med heat untill beans are hot and cheese begins to melt, stiring accasionally add tomatoe and sprinkle with black pepper, cook another minute Serve over baby spinach I have used red kidney beans in this and it's just as good.

Black-Eyed pea salad

This is so good I have made it a couple of times and it keeps in the frig really well. 1 can 15 1/2 oz black-eyed peas- rinsed and drained 1 large tomatoe diced 1 med ripe avocado peeled and diced 1/3 cup of diced green peper 2 green onions chopped 1 TBSP minced fresh cilantro 1 jalapeno peper seeded and chopped 1/3 cup of Italian salad dressing mix all together in large bowl, Wonderful

Olive Cheese Bread

PHEWWW with that last post out of the way here is something really nice. I made this last night (before the show so I was eating it while I was watching the Biggest Loser) and it is so nummie!!! I am an olive,cheese,bread lover so this is perfect for me. If you don't like olives it may not be your cup of tea. I get alot of my recipes for The Pioneer Woman, she rocks and is really funny too. Getting ready for winter

It has turned cold here already and we still have alot to do to get ready for winter. The outside of the barn is done but we=Brian are still trying to get the inside ready for the goats. Brian came home early today from work not feeling well , he hardly ever gets sick. This will push the barn back some. We got our first fill on the propane tank yesterday. I hope we only need two this year. The wood stove help out so much last year. We are going to try to use it as much as possible this year also, we need to split more wood add this the list of things we need to get done soon. It has been very windy the last week and the wind mill has been turning most of the time. I can't wait to see how it effects our electric bill this year. I have been busy making beads and cooking alot. When I was in NC we had this wonderful pumpkin muffins. I made some yesterday. Fall and Family

My sister in law Tamra and her family came up this weekend. Most of the time we are very laided back and just hang out around the house. This weekend we ventured off to a fest in Wisconsin, very cute. They had moved a log cabin and rebuilt it plank by plank. It was really nice. The last time they come up my chili was a hit so I made it again, good but a little hotter than last time. My nephew really loved Monkey bread, I usually buy the frozen stuff from the store. This weekend I thought I would make it. I found this recipe online. Big hit but I shortened the baking time to 35min. MONKEY BREAD 4 cans refrigerator biscuits (about 40) 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon 1/2 cup butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup pecans, raisins and/or coconut, if desired Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Pour sugar and cinnamon into a plastic bag and mix. Add biscuit pieces, several at a time; shake to coat well. Place pieces in a buttered tube or Bundt pan until all are used. Sp...
