Awit Kay Inay - Carol Banawa

There is a new soap opera in one of the local television stations here in the Philippines. It is entitled Onanay, with Nora Aunor, the Superstar of Philippine movies as lead actress. It is about a midget* (a person with dwarfism syndrome, sometimes called little person) woman who has two children, one child from her rape experience, the other a legitimate child.

The story is very interesting because the concept is new. It may have been the first story about a midget mother's plight in life. I could hardly imagine being put in her shoes and experiencing so much hardship in life. It's very dramatic, indeed.

I heard its theme song and so I decided to translate it for you.

Below is my translation. Please feel free to comment for additional information or if you have better translation for the lyrics of the song.

The title is Awit kay Inay (Song for Mother) Although, Mother sometimes translated in tagalog/filipino as "Nanay"

Awit Kay Inay (Song for Mother)
by Carol Banawa

May hihigit pa ba sa isang katulad mo (Will there be anyone who will surpass you)
Inang mapagmahal na totoo (A mother who is so loving and true)
Lahat nang buti ay naroon sa puso (All goodness is there in your heart)
Buhay man ay handang ialay mo (Your life, you are ready to give)
Walang inang matitiis ang isang anak (No mother could endure a child)
Ika'y dakila at higit ka sa lahat (You are great to all)

Ang awit na ito ay alay ko sa iyo (This song is offered for you)
Ang himig at titik ay pag-ibig sa puso ko (This melody and lyrics are love of my heart)
Ika'y nagiisa Ikaw lang sa mundo (You are the only one, you alone in the world)
Ang may pusong wagas ganyan ang tulad mo (Those with heart/love that's endless, you are like them)

Lahat ibibigay lahat gagawin mo (You will give everything, you will do everything)
Ganyan lagi ikaw sa anak mo (You are always like that to your child)
Lahat nang buti nya ang laging hangad mo (All goodness for your child, you intend) or (Your intention is for the good of your child)
Patawad ay lagi sa puso mo.... (Forgiveness is always in your heart)

Walang inang matitiis ang isang anak (No mother could endure her child)
Ika'y dakila at higit ka sa lahat (You are great and you more than anyone else)

Ang awit na ito ay alay ko sa iyo (This song is offered for you)
Ang himig at titik ay pag-ibig sa puso ko (This melody and lyrics are love of my heart)
Ika'y nagiisa Ikaw lang sa mundo (You are the only one, you alone in the world)
Ang may pusong wagas ganyan ang tulad mo (Those with heart/love that's endless, you are like them)

Thata's it folks. I hope you enjoyed it.

ChurpChurp Philippines | Social Share » Extra Excitement in your McDonald's Meal with the New Coca-Cola Can Glass Series! (Preview)

Who would not get goosebumps when this song started playing in that old Coca-cola advertisement. It was sung by a local artist by the name of "Lilet". I clearly remember her name because her pretty face reminds me of my sister. Well, that's only me alright.

So there she was giving the introductory lyrics of this song, without any background music. She sings it in acapella while the camera is zooming in on her surroundings which was a stadium filled with young people. The the background music plays along.

I get goosebumps because ever since I was still young, I have always been idealistic; principled; dreamer. I have always believed that there is still hope in this country and that goodness will prevail. I believe we human beings are innately good.

I am sharing this with you because the last time I spent a bonding moment with my sister, we ate at McDonald's. I know she could't resist the sight of that new Coca-Cola glass on display at the store's counter. She has been collecting those glasses for years, this is the third year, I believe. She has those glasses. I just knew she couldn't resist the new Coke glass' design and true enough, she bought one! Presto!

Now folk, don't fret because this glass is available to you at your nearest McDonald's store so hurry! Grab one.

For the meantime, here is the lyrics of that song.
Thanks for this site for the lyrics:

Children: The Future of this Nation

I am the future of the world

I am the hope of my Nation

I am tomorrow’s people

I am the new inspiration

And we’ve got a song to sing to you

we’ve got a message to bring to you

we’ve got a dream

for you and for me and tomorrow (tomorrow)

If we all can agree, there’ll be sweet harmony

tomorrow, tomorrow

and we all will be there, coca cola to share

feeling so real and so (feeling so real and so true)

promise us tomorrow and we’ll make a better world for (make a better world for you)

Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver

I am aware that there have been many versions of this song and the latest was that version used in the movie Armageddon.  I watched that movie and I should admit, I cried at its ending.

I grew up hearing this song as sung by John Denver.  I may be younger than his generation but I love his songs.  As a kid, I couldn't see myself as "leaving on a jet plane" simply because I am afraid of heights.

I fear heights especially boarding a plane due to movies showing planes that crash and other natural calamities that strike air crafts.  I was afraid of the thought that I may not survive a plane crash or I may be a crash magnet. (Silly me!) Well, maturity brought me opposite convictions in life. In fact, I have prepared myself of death. Funny!

Hey, one can't help but repose your life to the aircraft and to the pilot who directs the plane during voyage to the skies.  It is like religion. "You commend your spirit into your God."

Those were my thoughts when I boarded the plane.  "I am prepared", I told myself.  However, seated beside me is my sister.  I know her thoughts are different from mine leaving behind her 3 kids.  As a mother, one can't help but miss your children and think of them when you're gone.  Silly me really for thinking thoughts like these when we were en route the Land of the Merlion.  However, as sister passengers in a plane, we did not talk about the worst scenario.  We enjoyed the view above the clouds. We read the magazine and see photos of tourist spots in Asia and the Philippines. We talked about the activities of our fellow passenger regardless of their sex or color or race.  We slept.  I read my law book.  As a passenger of the plane, I diverted my attention to those activities and did not bother to think of the worst scenario.

Well, to end this entry, I finally took the step to board an airplane and one thing that played on my mind was this song.  It helped me eliminate my childhood fears on flying in the plane.  Thank God!

Til next entry.

Lyrics of the song
Leaving on a Jet Plane

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time let me kiss you
Close your eyes I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

Mahiwaga - Fatima Soriano

There is a TV soap opera in Philippine television launched sometime May.  I watched the pilot episode and the title is 100 days to Heaven (this link will direct you to the trailer of the show via Youtube.)  What made this so significant to me is that this is the only soap opera i watched.  It is not yet finished but as long as I could steal a time from reading my books, I would sneak in and glue my eyes on the tube.

It has a good story, I could say. However, I cannot comment too much about it since I only had few occasions to watch it.  I will not claim to be an expert about the show but I know it is giving viewers a lesson to live with.

I searched the net for a translation of the movie theme but there was none so I decided to blog about it and share my translation of the lyrics of the song Mahiwaga as sung by Fatima Soriano.  By the way, the story of the artist who sang this song also had a wonderful and miraculous story.  Please check out Fatima Soriano's website here and find out the story of her life.

Mahiwaga performed by Fatima Soriano
(Mysterious)

Mahiwaga ang buhay ng tao (Life is mysterious)
Ang bukas ay di natin piho (We are not certain of the future)
At manalig lagi sana tayo (And so we should always have faith)
Ang diyos ang pagasa ng mundo (The Lord is the hope of the earth)

Pag-ibig sa ating kapwa tao (Love our fellow)
At laging magmahalan tayo (and we should always be loving)
Yan ang lunas at ligaya  (that is the cure and happiness)
At pag-asa ng Bawat Kaluluwa (And the hope of every soul)

Pag-ibig sa ating kapwa tao (Love our fellow)
At laging magmahalan tayo (and we should always be loving)
Yan ang lunas at ligaya  (that is the cure and happiness)
At pag-asa ng Bawat Kaluluwa (And the hope of every soul)

Yan ang hiwaga ng buhay ng tao (that is the mystery of life)

There goes my translation of the song and as usual, I'm seeking your comment for whatever mistranslated words or any errors in the lyrics.

Thanks.

Sound of Music - Theme from the movie the Sound of Music

I remember watching this movie in our old TV set when I was still in the grade school.  Remember those TV set with large wooden frame that goes with it? Its speakers are attached to the left and right of that black tube.  We had that kind of TV set - the kind that doesn't use remote controls yet.  One has to get near that gargantuan set, twist the channel selector then go back to your couch just to find another TV station with plenty of advertisements, you'd wish you never had to stand up from your seat again.

Let me search an image over google...

Ours looked like that one except that our old TV set was wider and there was a folding door in front of its screen... ahh those were the days. Days when our flat iron used charcoal in it. Vintage indeed!

Well, anyway, I am talking about this movie and its theme song because this is one of the movies my mom loved to watch.  I liked it too, and I'm still a fan of it because Julie Andrews looked like my mom. Unbelievable!

Call me mom-fanatic and I'd be guilty as charged!

Mama, as our term of endearment, sings like Julie Andrews as well! She is so everything when it comes to entertaining people, her children and including herself.

I love it when she does that.  She does everything or anything that would make her children be happy and most especially, she has this unique way of entertaining herself most of the time.  Self-sufficient!

I remember the time I imitated that part of the movie where Maria, Julie Andrews, was singing the introduction of the song on top of the valley while spinning slowly... Mom had the laugh of her life because I was so trying hard getting the pitch of Maria.

I am sure you too have seen this movie and fell in love with it.  Please share some.

Thanks again! Till next entry!

Lyrics of the song
The Sound of Music

The hills are alive
With the sound of music
With songs they have sung
For a thousand years

The hills fill my heart
With the sound of music
My heart wants to sing ev'ry song it hears

My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
That rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
From a church on a breeze

To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night
Like a lark who is learning to prey

I go to the hills
When my heart is lonely
I know I will hear
What I've heard before

My heart will be blessed
With the sound of music
And I'll sing once more

Don't Worry Baby - Beach Boys

Lyrics of the song DON'T WORRY BABY
by the Beach Boys
Well its been building up inside of me
For oh I don't know how long
I don't know why
But I keep thinking
Something's bound to go wrong

But she looks in my eyes
And makes me realize
And she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright

Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby

I guess I should've kept my mouth shut
When I started to brag about my car
But I can't back down now because
I pushed the other guys too far

She makes me come alive
And makes me wanna drive
When she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright

Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby

She told me "Baby, when you race today
Just take along my love with you
And if you knew how much I loved you
Baby nothing could go wrong with you"

Oh what she does to me
When she makes love to me
And she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright

Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
==============================
I still haven't written about my other favorite songs and singers. One of them is the Beach Boys.
When I wathced the movie My Girl and bought a sound track casette tape, I discovered Beach Boys. They sang this song.

I always played this song on our cassette player despite the hassle of pushing rewind, trying to find the right spot for the start of the song and press play then enjoy. I did the routine a hundred times with the casette tape until it did wear out but by that time, I guess we already have a cd player in the house. A "Balikbayan" (meaning a Filipino who came back from abroad) cousin of my dad bought me a CD of the beach boys and I still played this song.

I would say the Beach Boys is my favorite foreign boy band. Go ahead, say I am very classy or vintage or whatever. I am guilty! However, I do not know their names neither am I familiar with each of the members' track in the showbiz or music industry. I just love their songs and I enjoy most of them. I am so sorry to say but I only stick with music, not exactly with the artist, especially that this is a group. I am just familiar with few artists but not as deep as how I know the life story of say Michael Jackson or Madonna or Celine Dion or Julia Roberts.

My knowledge about Beach Boys is very limited and I want to keep it that way.

Okay, so let's listen to the song which reminds me of My Girl.

Maging Sino Ka Man - Rey Valera - Sharon Cuneta

There was a movie about this song. It was a local film starred by Robin Padilla. Blogging about a Rey Valera song is quite overdue and incidentally, this song came to mind when I just want to blog about my sister.

My sister is or was an avid fan of Robin Padilla. He is a local actor who had the "bad boy" image in the Philippine cinema. Her fondness of this actor died down when the latter got involved in a criminal case from which he was committed to prison.

The other night I attended a prayer meeting, my sister went out with her friends. Before we were to go home, I stayed with them for a few minutes and they had a chat from which I think I overheard her saying "that's why I love my sister", in our dialect and she was referring to me. It caused me to smile although I was unsure of her exact words and whether she really meant it or not. I go for the positive side.

We've been through a lot together and she's been through a lot family-related problems. One would go really crazy if they are in her situation. I couldn't handle it myself if I was in her shoes that is why I admire her a lot. She manages to go through everything, add to that having a sister like me. I am the most uncontrolled sister in the universe but she accepts me, loves me even. And I love her back.

She is the kind of person you will love to love because as I have always told you, she can cope with different types of people. She can sustain relationships throughout the years and have loyal friends behind her. For me, she is simply the most amazing person I have ever seen and I believe she has been blessed fully for all that she has done to our family and to her friends. She is the kind of person one will surely love, whoever they are.

Lyrics Translation of the song
MAGING SINO KA MAN (Whoever You are)

Ang pag-ibig ay sadyang ganyan (Love is like that)
Tiwala sa isa't isa'y kailangan (Trust in one another is needed)
Dati mong pag-ibig wala akong pakialam (Your previous love, I don't care)
Basta't mahal kita kailan pa man (I just love you forevermore)
'Wag kang mag-isip ng ano pa man (Don't think of anything else)
Mga paliwanag mo'y di na kailangan (I don't need your explanation)
At kahit ano pa ang iyong nakaraan (And whatever your past is)
Mamahalin kita maging sino ka man (I will love you forvermore)

Mahal kita pagka't mahal kita (I love you because I love you)
Iniisip nila ay hindi mahalaga (What they think is not important)
Mahal kita maging sino ka man (I love you whoever you are)

Mali man ang ikaw ay ibigin ko (It may be wrong to love you)
Ako'y isang bulag na umiibig sa 'yo (I may be loving you blindly)
At kahit ano pa ang iyong nakaraan (And whatever your past is)
Mamahalin kita maging sino ka man (I will love you forvermore)

Mahal kita pagka't mahal kita (I love you because I love you)
Iniisip nila ay hindi mahalaga (What they think is not important)
Mahal kita maging sino ka man (I love you whoever you are)

Never Ending Story - New Found Glory

When I was just a little kid, I heard of a story with this title. It was told in our language so I am not sure if some of you have heard of it on your own version. This is not the movie that most of us have seen but it was about the master and his servant.

I translated it from the way I understood it although I haven't heard of it for quite a long time already, perhaps 20 years. However when the song of the same title is played on my ipod, I can't help but remember the story.

The story started with...

Nung unang panahon... (I mean)... Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom and there lived the king and his servants. The king ordered a war against another kingdom.

One night, the master sargeant together with his soldiers and servants were resting in a camp.

The master went outside the tent and lighted a cigarrette. The servant followed him and asked, "Master, you can't sleep?" Then the master nodded his head.

"I cannot sleep too" said the servant. He continued, "Master, can you tell me a story?"

"Certainly" said the master. The master started the story....

Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom and there lived the king and his servants. The king ordered a war against another kingdom.
(Just read the story above and continue telling the Never Ending Story)

Okay, that's about it. When I first heard of it, I really thought it was silly to have never ending story and when the above story was told, I really thought it would never end. I think I just walked away from the person who was telling that story or I just covered my ears. I realized, it was non-sense listening to a story that I have already heard a thousand times.

I could bear watching or listening to a story the third, even the fourth time but not a dozen times more and more.

This is my version of the Never Ending Story. I have watched the movie about a flying big creature with kids on his back but I can no longer recall the beginning or ending of that story. Once I am done schooling, I will watch those movies again, and those TV series I failed to watch.

Thanks for reading.

Here is the lyrics of the song
NEVER ENDING STORY

Turn around, look at what you see, yeah
In her face, the mirror of your dreams, whoa
Make believe I'm everywhere, hidden in the lines
Written on the pages is the answer to our neverending story
Neverending story

Reach the stars, and fly a fantasy, yeah
Dream a dream, and what you see will be, yeah yeah yeah
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon the rainbow is the answer to our neverending story
Neverending story
Story
Neverending story

(GO!)
Show no fear, for she may fade away, yeah
In your hand, the birth of a new day, yeah yeah yeah
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon the rainbow is the answer to our neverending story

[3x:]
Nevending story
Whoa whoa whoa whoa

Never Ending Story Theme Song - New Found Glory

I Love You - the Barney Show

Let me start with the lyrics of the song:

I love you, you love me
we're a happy family
with a great big hug
and a kiss from me to you
won't you say you love me too
I love you, you love me
we're best friends
as friends should be
with a great big hug and
a kiss from me to you
won't you say you love me too

This is one of my favorite songs in the Barney show.
Isn't it a wonder how a person like my age watch Barney? That giant, purple dinosaur has been a favorite household icon. The kids in the house, most especially Kikay, loves watching it and she is now, at the age of 22 months, trying to sing this song. What is most wonderufl about this baby is when she gives a hug when the song reaches the part that says "great big hug...."
It is an everyday event for the two of us. We watch it together and sing the songs together... at least only those words that she can pronounce and understand. Yesterday, I taught her the left and the right hands. Fortunately she remembers her left hand. Way to go!!! To illustrate: I ask her to "give me five with your left hand" and she'd look at her left hand and we have "high fives" instead.
This experience with Barney and Kikay is blog worthy so here I am... blogging and bragging about me, an adult watching Barney, and about Kikay who is so sweet with this song.

She - Elvis Costelo

I thought of Julia Roberts and her role as Erin Brokovich. She was the woman who helped sick people with their legal battle against PG&E company. Apparently, that movie was based on factual accounts.

I remember her performance in the movie Notting Hill as well, and this song was included in the soundtrack (including Ronan Keating's Nothing At All). The actress is pretty, the movie was good, including the sound track. And a movie will likely to be more meaningful when you watched it with a person close to the heart. How sweet!

She may be the face I can't forget
a trace of pleasure I regret
may be my treasure or the price I have to pay
she may be the song that Solomon sings
may be the chill that autumn brings
my be a hounded tearful things
within the measure of the day.

She may be the beauty or the beast
may be the famine or the feast
may turn each day into heave or a hell
she may be the mirror of my dream
a smile reflected in a stream
she may not be what she may seem
inside as shell

she who always seems so happy 'n proud
who's eyes can be so private and so proud
no one's allowed to see them when they cry
she may be the love that can and hope to last
may come to me from shadows of the past
that I remember till day I die

She may be the reason I survive
the why and where for I'm alive
the one I'll care for through the rough and rainy years
me I'll take her laughter and her tears
and make them all my souvenirs
for where she goes I got to be
the meaning of my life is

she, she, she

She - Elvis Costello

Tanging Yaman - Carol Banawa

I associate this song with a Pilipino movie of the same title. It was about family, relationships and values. I believe this song is a Bukas Palad Music Ministry original song. I had the chance to mingle with the group when they had a concert here in Dagupan last February. The community I belong to, And Lingkod ng Panginoon - Dagupan Branch, was the sponsor of the concert. I arrived early at the concert venue and was assigned to secure the room of the group Bukas Palad. Bags, guitar, food and bread were all over. I was just told to sit inside the room and look after their belongings because strangers might come in.

I was really embarassed that time because I was just there in the corner. I cannot mingle with the group because I didn't know a single soul in that room. Despite that, I had fun listening to their songs, all the songs they sung. They are really adorable and they had great voices... my heart couldn't help but leap. It didn't beat. haha!

This song is just very short but it means so much to me. It talks about my Saviour, my God and my all.

Here is my translation:

Ikaw ang aking Tanging Yaman (You are my only treasure)
Na di lubasang masumpungan (Which I cannot fully comprehend)
Ang nilikha mong kariktan (The loveliness you created)
Sulyap ng 'yong kagandahan (A view of your beauty)

Ika'y hanap sa t'wina, nitong pusong (My heart longs for you)
Ikaw lamang ang saya (You are my only joy)
Sa ganda ng umaga, (In the beauty of the morning)
Nangungulila sa'yo sinta (I long for you)

Ika'y hanap sa t'wina, (I always search for you)
Sa kapwa ko kita laging nadarama (In my fellow, I always feel you)
Sa iyong mga likha, (With your creations)
Hangad pa ring masdan ang 'yong mukha (I still long to see your face)
-----------------------
Note:
KARIKTAN - is "Karikitan" which also means beauty, but this normally refers to a beautiful lady. It was just awkward to use the word "pretty-ness" so I used beauty and loveliness interchangeably.
GANDA - is literally translated as beauty
TUWINA - Its like "Every now and then"

Tanging Yaman - Carol Banawa and Bukas Palad choir

Ang Pipit - Pilita Corrales

This is just a short song. This song is memorable for me because it reminded me of the first movie I have ever seen in the big screen. An actor named Rey PJ Abellana was one of the lead actor, God bless his soul. I also remember a child actor named Jaypee, I forgot his last name.

This was the theme song of that first movie I watched in cinema. I will never forget that song because for the first time, I saw what a movie theater looked like. I was around 6 or 7 years old then. Haha... vintage story huh?

Oh well, the moment I set foot on the cinema I saw the dark place. I got scared but it was nothing compared to what I saw next. It was the big screen itself. I stood in awe! I don't recall if I said it too loud but I can still remember I said "The TV is really big!" (My original words were "Nagdakkel jay TV" which was an Ilokano sentence, the only native dialect I knew back then, other than a little bit of Tagalog. At present, I now know how to speak Pangasinense and Bikolano, and I could grasp or understand some Bisaya and Kapampangan)...

That my friend, is the story of my first encounter with the "silver screen" almost 3 decades ago. Here goes the song and I tried to translate it.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
May pumukol sa pipit sa sanga ng isang kahoy (Someone stoned a bird at the branch of a tree)
At nahagip ng bato ang pakpak ng munting ibon (And the stone hit the wings of the little bird)

(2)
Dahil sa sakit di na makaya pang lumipad (because of the pain, it wasn't able to fly)
At ang nangyari ay nahulog nguni't parang taong bumigkas (And what happened is it fell but like a person who uttered...)

Mamang kay lupit (You are so harsh)
Ang puso mo'y di na nahabag (You didn't have a heart)
Pag pumanaw ang buhay ko (If my life whould pass away)
May isang pipit na iiyak (There is a bird that will cry)

(Instrumental)
(Repeat(1), (2)
Repeat (3) twice

Ang Pipit - Asin

Searching my Soul - Vonda Shepard

Have you seen at least an episode of Ally McBeal or at least you have heard of her? Well, I have in my possession a DVD collection of that series. First, I'd like to say I like Ally because she is thin. My goodness, I have been longing to be as thin as her. That is quite an obstacle for me so, I set it aside. Secondly, Ally is so pretty, I have always appreciated her beauty (except that she is so thin, I thought I was watching a kiddy show. I wasn't.) Next, she portrayed to be a lawyer, a profession I have always wanted. (hopefully in 2 years time, I'll be one.)

Next, the show was so "emotionally-charged" because Ally was so emotional. She always seemed to bo in love most of the time. But of course, my all time favorite is her love story with Billy.

All right! Do you know that before the start of the episode itself, this song is being played? "I've been down this road, walking the line, displaying my pride..." Ahhh.... that was just so perfect. How long have I wished I could walk with such a pride?

This is the reason why I pursued my law school. I was just hoping I'd get the title and when I die, I'll have that "ATTY" before my name, on the marble, on top of my grave. What an accomplishment, isn't it? haha. But, honestly, that was just my goal. Nevertheless, if I am to live a longer life, I would see to it that I'd spend it serving the least of the people around me. This is just too much to ask, or to request for as of the moment.

While I try to make that wish come true, I would like to at least focus myself on Ally McBeal. A lawyer I admire, albeit the character is fictitious. Here is the song for the hour:

Searchin My Soul (Album Version) - Vonda Shepard

I've been down this road walkin' the line
That's painted by pride
And I have made mistakes in my life
That I just can't hide

Oh I believe I am ready for what love has to bring
Got myself together, now I'm ready to sing

I've been searchin' my soul tonight
I know there's so much more to life
Now I know I can shine a light
To find my way back home

One by one, the chains around me unwind
Every day now I feel that I can leave those years behind

Oh I've been thinking of you for a long time
There's a side of my life where I've been blind and so...

I've been searchin' my soul tonight
I know there's so much more to life
Now I know I can shine a light
Everything gonna be alright
I've been searchin' my soul tonight
Don't wanna be alone in life
Now I know I can shine a light
To find my way back home
Baby I been holding back now my whole life
I've decided to move on now
Gonna leave all my worries behind

Oh I belive I am ready for what love has to give
Got myself together now I'm ready to live

I've been searchin' my soul tonight
I know there's so much more to life
Now I know I can shine a light
Everything gonna be alright
I've been searchin' my soul tonight
Don't wanna be alone in my life
Now I know I can shine a light
To find my way back home

Love Is All Around - Wet, Wet, Wet

This song primarily reminds me of the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. I must be candid, I really did not like the movie nor give it a 5 rating like I would do to Pay it Forward or other movies I enjoyed more than this one.

I do not abhor the movie. Perhaps I was just too young to comprehend its message when it was first shown here in the Philippines. I would rather talk about the people who are reminded to me when I hear this song. I love this song more than I appreciate the movie, by the way...

So I am reminded by our peers, our housemates in Baguio City when we were still studying. Some of their names I could still recall. It was like "ghetto" because we were ourselves, without pretensions and we lived the most of what our allowance could provide. Well, to our old peers who are on their own lives now, most of them have their own families: Jona, Kurt, Philip, John, Roger, Jennifer, Faye, Crom, Matt and the rest of the transients in our boarding house. This song is our song when we watched that movie together. That was one heck of a simple fun!

Love is all around me - Wet Wet Wet

I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
The love that's all around me
And so the feeling grows

It's written on the wind
It's everywhere I go
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show

You know I love you, I always will
My mind's made up by the way that I feel
There's no beginning, there'll be no end
'Cause on my love you can depend

I see your face before me
As I lay on my bed
I cannot get to thinking
Of all the things you said

You gave your promise to me and I gave mine to you
I need someone beside me in everything I do

You know I love you, I always will
My mind's made up by the way that I feel
There's no beginning, there'll be no end
'Cause on my love you can depend

I got to keep it moving

It's written in the wind
Oh everywhere I go
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it,
Come on and let it
Come on and let it,
Come on and let it show
