This was a recent house portrait for a Realtor of a house in Massachusetts . In the old days I used to do a lot of them , but when the house market went down it seemed to go as well ! This week end I got asked to do another one so maybe it is coming back? I really like when the house has some character  or style, it is a nice keepsake for the family!

Spring is here ! the flowers and the trees will come out of their winter sleep and everything will be beautiful again! Mother's day, Father's day, graduations ,weddings and anniversaries are all around the corner ,and you may not have a present to give , what about a nice House Portrait , I have specialized in them for over thirty years, because I love architecture and always have, as a child I would draw a house on everything and get in trouble for it ,Like in your parents important papers !
this particular house was done in Plein air last year ,but I do work from photographs if the location is too far to travel .

Think how good your clothes smell when they dry outside! we did not have dryers in France when I grew up , it was so natural to have your laundry out , I realize the convenience ,but a waste of energy for sure ! well in the country side here in New England , you can find some nice clothes lines , and I am one who sometimes takes pictures of them !
So to continue my winter series of old houses , here is one with a clothes line .

A wonderful sunny day in a winter day , good enough to dry clothes just like grandma used to do ,Clothes used to smell so good! now new neighborhoods don't even allow a clothes line , it's a shame , look at all the energy wasted , well! in Maine it is still a familiar scene, I just love to see it . Over the years I have taken lots of photos of different lines , some coordinate the colors , or their underwear .

This is the commission I have been working on , in watercolor. People who have lived in a house for a longtime and raised a family move to another part of the country , a house portrait is the answer to take with you and cherish the wonderful memories .

This is another example of a chair on the porch , If you have a favorite chair to be painted , just email me , this particular painting is owned by an art collector .I usually look for unusual porch designs , I decorate mine ,people are always stopping to take photos of my porch .
I think a porch makes a home very warm and welcome.

B&B by the Sea This is a house I have come across in my travels in Maine , loved the architecture but not the sitting , I have taking artistic licence and gave it a mood and left a lot of the landscape , just kept it simple .I did a series of these old house , and still have a few and would love to find a home for them .so please email me nlcasey@charter.net

Needing love
Blogging from Maine, I am here for two weeks with my friends painting day and night, This is the first time i get a chance to get connected to the Internet, this is a remote area, thanks to the local Lubec Library for the use of WIFI. We also have an exhibit here .this is my first oil here of this lonely house , I am always fascinated with them and this is place to find them.

House by the Sea This is a house where I changed the scenery, It is by the Sea ,but a street over and no flowers , the house was for sale and not so attractive . I took an artist licence to paint this scene.

The old timer If you have been reading my blog or at least followed my work , you must have noticed my love for old houses, ever since I was a young girl , I have drawn houses on every piece of paper I could find . living in New England has been wonderful for me, I never run out of subject like these old timers.
