INTAAS - 3 THINGS

Come and join us at International Art and Soul with Mimi's challenge of '3 Things'. I had to rack my brain for this one.

I didn't want to use three individual items so looked through my stamps. I eventually found this one which I bought at Ally Pally a good few years ago. It had no name on the stall but a lot of the stamps were American as I found when I checked their spelling on some. To add to the confusion they had no name on the wrapper, just a plain cellophane bag. This one of the three stark trees attracted me so it was perfect for this challenge as far as I was concerned.

I stamped it in Versamark 'Cocoa'  ink before tearing out and edging with a 'Mahogany' Distress Ink. The sentiment is from Visible Image and was stamped in the same ink and the same process as the image. The brown paper is from Costco and was matted on to bright green card by Hobbycraft before being set as the mat on the 7x7 Crafts UK card.

The image was set to the right side of the mat and the image slightly overlapped top left. I used three large gems in the bottom left corner - job done. Two weeks before the challenge goes live so maybe I'm beginning to feel a little better.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Creative Fingers - Anything Goes
Krafty Chicks - Stamp Act
Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
Path of Positivity - Anything Goes + option of something special about friends

Thank you all for visiting and for your comments. I hope to see you again soon.

INTAAS to include an animal

This challenge over at International Art and Soul is to 'include an animal' so come along and join us.

My card is a 7x7 by Craft UK. I used a sheet of dark brown card, by Papermill, and embossed it with an embossalicious folder by Crafter's Companion. I matted this on to some beige coloured foundation card by Sue Wilson. The image of the cat, by Barbara Gray, was stamped in Memento ink in cocoa. I cut it with a Spellbinder die. Before adding it to the centre of the card I used a length of baker's twine to lie under the cat as if it had been playing with it. I also stamped a very small image of a House Mouse before adding it to the bottom right corner.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Gem of a Challenge - Anything Goes
Allsorts Challenge - Going Round in Circles
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes

Thank you all for visiting.

INTAAS Tea Party

This challenge theme over at International Art and Soul was set by me and is 'A Tea Party'.  Come along and join us at our tea party.

My card is a large 7x7 scalloped card by Craft UK. I used a sheet of paper from a freebie pack in a Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and cut it using a Spellbinder scalloped die. I used another larger scalloped die, again by Spellbinder, to cut a sheet of pale lemon card from Papermill. I matted the  teacup paper on to the lemon card. The image of the cake stand was a stamp, again a freebie. I've had this sheet of stamps for years, given free in a magazine years ago. I stamped it in Memento ink in cocoa and then coloured with my Promarkers before cutting with a scalloped oval Spellbinder die. I set it to the upper left and then using another of the freebie stamps I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment. This was cut with another oval scalloped Spellbinder die before being set at a slight angle to the lower right. I added three small lemon pearls by Mei Flower under the words.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore Encore - Anything Goes

Thank you all for popping by, hope to see you again soon.

INTAAS Humorous

The theme this fortnight at International Art and Soul is 'Humorous' and the challenge was set by me. Why do I think of the theme before I think of what I can do for these challenges? I'm sure I get a perverse sense of pleasure from the struggle. lol

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK  The brown and pink card is by Papermill. I embossed the brown card with an embossalicious folder from Crafter's Companion before setting it on to a pink mat as the background. I used a Clip Art image of a question mark and printed it in a large size in pink before cutting with a Spellbinder die. The quote is a stamp by PaperArtsy and I bought it a few years ago at Ally Pally and have never used it until now. It was stamped with Memento ink in cocoa which seemed appropriate. I cut it with another Spellbinder die and matted it on to pink card the same shape but slightly bigger before setting it an angle in bottom right.  My daughter in law spotted the stamp at Ally Pally and thought it was funny which prompted me to buy it - she loves chocolate! So - guess who is getting this card for her birthday?

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Alphabet Challenge - D is for Dry Embossing
Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes + a sentiment
Lavinia World Challenge - Anything Goes with a rubber or clear stamp
A Bit More Time to Craft - Always Anything Goes
A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes

IAAS Things with Wings

International Art and Soul have the lovely challenge theme of 'Things with Wings' so why not come along and join us?

My card blank is an 8x8 by Craft UK. The backing paper is from a pad by The Works and it's matted on to some of Anita's mirri card. The dragon fly stamp and sentiment are both by Visible Image. I stamped them both with Memento ink in Cocoa and then cut them with Spellbinder circle dies. I used more of the silver card to cut scalloped circles as backings for them. I coloured the dragon fly with Sakura glitter pens and the wings really glitter. I backed them on to their silver scalloped circles and then set them in place. I used Spellbinder dies again for two corners cut in the silver card. Job done.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Art Impressions - Use Circles
Crafty Sentiments - Die and/or punch
Lemon Shortbread - Always Anything Goes

IAAS Embossing - Heat or Dry

Come and join us over at International Art and Soul with the challenge theme of Embossing - either heat or dry. The theme was set by CG.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK. I used a Visible Image stamp of Streets on the yellow base mat. I then used a Crafter's Companion embossing folder of cracked ground on some brown card before matting it on to the yellow. Brown and Yellow card both by Papermill. The Street Dancer and the sentiment are both Visible Image and I stamped them in brown Memento Ink. I coloured the edges with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and set them at various angles over the base mat. To finish it off I added three yellow pearls by Mei Flower to the top right of the brown mat and the bottom left. This was for my son who used to enjoy break dancing when he was a LOT younger. lol

IAAS Monochrome

Come along to International Art and Soul and join us with the 'Monochrome' theme.

I decided to go with black and white for my card.

I've used a 6x6 card blank by Craft UK. I cut a large black scalloped square with a Spellbinder die as the base mat. I next embossed a square of white card with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder of clouds. The sentiment is one that I love. I received a card, just because, from some very old friends of mine who now live many miles away. The card was in aid of Barnardo's and designed by Kirsty R Walker so I presume the verse is also by her. I hope she doesn't mind me using the sentiment on my card. I printed it in black before cutting with an oval Spellbinders die and matting on to a black scalloped oval. I set it towards the bottom of the main mat and then added a stamped image of a feather, stamp by Visible image. I stamped it in black Memento ink before cutting it carefully, leaving a small white edge, before adding to the top left of the base mat.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Brown Sugar - Anything Goes
Crafting with an Attitude - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes

IAAS Ecology, Environment, Conservation

This theme was set by Sall 'Ecology, Environment, Conservation' . Please come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My card blank is 7x7 by Craft UK. The backing paper is by PaperArtsy and I matted it on to Papermill's dark brown card as the base mat. I stamped the image in Memento Ink in cocoa but I have no idea who made the stamp. I bought it at Ally Pally a few years ago. I chose not to colour the image  and after cutting it into a rectangle I used Distress Ink on the edges. Then it was set to the right of the base mat leaving some of the beautiful leaves on show. I added three wooden flowers, from Create and Craft many years ago, to the panel of leaves.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafting with an Attitude - Anything Goes
A Bit More Time to Craft - Anything Goes
A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes

IAAS - CAS with blue

I haven't made a CAS card (clean and simple) for quite some time so I was pleased with Maggie's choice of theme for the challenge at International Art and Soul.

My card blank is 7x7 by Craft UK. I've had the stamp for a few years and this is only the second time I've used it. It's by Woodware and is called Bubble Blossom, Felicity. I have no idea if it's still available. I stamped it in Memento ink directly on to the card blank and then coloured with my Promarkers.  The sentiment is by PaperArtsy Eclectica 3 collection. The sentiment was also stamped in Memento ink, cut with a Spellbinder die and the edges coloured with the blue Promarker. A very CAS card but I actually love this one.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Dragonfly Dreams - For a Special Female (my late husband's 96 year old cousin in Australia)
Aud Sentiments - Any sentiment except Happy Birthday
Cardz 4 Galz - Flora or Fauna
Crafting with an Attitude - Anything Goes

IAAS Black and Orange

My card blank is a 7x7 by Crafts UK. The theme over at International Art and Soul is 'Black and Orange. I don't send Halloween cards so decided on a birthday card for my second daughter in law.

She loves dogs so the image was easy, one of Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs. I stamped it in Memento Ink and after only basic colouring (because I have a white dog - lol) I cut it with a Spellbinder wonky square die. I then matted it on to an orange wonky square slightly larger than the first. The background was a section of embossed orange card and a narrower section of black card. The orange card by Papermill and the black by Sue Wilson. I'm sorry I have no idea where the embossing folder is from. I fixed both sections to a black base that matted nicely on to the card blank. I used a strip of Hobbycraft pearls and black gems to the lower part of the card. The sentiment, if I remember correctly, is by Lili of the Valley. After carefully cutting it out I edged it with my black Promarker to give it more definition and then set it at the top right.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK. The turquoise backing paper is from a DCWV Glitzy Brights Stack and by jove it is glitzy. I used four of the Fun in the Sun stamps from an Inkadinkadoo stamp plate and stamped them in Memento ink. I used Rangers Distress Inks in yellow, green and blue for the sand, sun, sky and sea before cutting it with a Spellbinders die.

IAAS Autumn Colours

The theme is Autumn Colours over at International Art and Soul so come along and join us.

I've used a 7x7 card blank by Craft UK and then used Brushos in various shades of orange, red, brown and yellow before spritzing with water to give little splurges of colour. When it was completely dry I used Imagination Crafts' Gilding Flakes in Red Gilt to give a few splashes of glitter. The main image is by Visible Image and was stamped in Memento ink before I tore round the edges. I used Distress Inks in orange and yellow round the torn edge and then raised it on pads to give depth. The sentiment was a freebie from a magazine and, again, it was stamped with Memento ink.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

IAAS - Stitching Real or Faux

Stitching - Real or Faux is the theme for the challenge over at International Art and Soul. My faux stitching is a bit messy but because it's close work my eyes weren't too good, sorry.

I used an 8x8 ivory coloured card blank by Craft UK and then added a mat of beige Papermill card. The Tonic lace layering die in large size was used for the next layer. I only fixed the centre panel so that the lacy edge stands proud. The flower stamp was a freebie from a magazine and I stamped it in Memento ink Rich Cocoa before cutting out with a Spellbinder die. I used the embossed edge to try and keep my faux stitching in place and for this I used my Promarker in brown (oops, placed back in tray before I noted the exact colour!) That was fixed slightly above centre and then I added two swirls in beige using my Tattered Lace die. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley and that was stamped in brown and added to beige card too. Three gold pearls by Michael's stores (yay, I've had them years and just got round to using them) were added to the top right.

Moving Along with the Times - Butterflies

This weeks it's Team B's turn to entice you to join in with the Moving Along with the Times theme of 'Butterflies'.

My scalloped card blank is by Craft UK. I used a Bee Crafty butterfly stamp and a freebie butterfly stamp from Creative Stamping magazine to make the background. I stamped the butterflies in brown Memento ink. A friend sent me a pile of goodies a few years ago and in the pile was six sheets of glitter butterflies. I added some of these randomly in between the stamped images. After the background was complete I matted it on to orange card from Papermill. The corners were rounded with my Carl corner punch. Another of my favourite Visible Images sentiments came into play and was stamped in the brown ink before being matted on to more orange card. Raised on pads and set in amongst the butterflies and my card was complete.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Catch the Bug - Anything Goes

International Art and Soul - Distressing

This theme is 'distressing' so please come along and join us in our challenge at International Art and Soul. It's just for fun but there are some super badges available for your blog if you're chosen as one of our favourites.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK and for me it's the perfect size. I painted about an inch round each edge of the card, let it dry and then added Pentart Cracking Primer in a thin coat on top. After that had dried I added a thick layer of Pentart Cracking Paste on top of that and waited for the magic to happen. Yes, it began to crack, just what I wanted for the base of my design. I stamped an image (I bought it at Ally Pally a couple of years ago but I have no idea who made it) of trees in Memento brown ink and then tore roughly round the image, making it big enough to cover the centre of the cracking. I used Distress Ink round the torn edges and then roughed the edges with my scissors before adding to the base card.

When we first visited America, in 1984, we were staying in North Carolina and one day we were taken by friends to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest to see the wonderful, fantastic, HUGE trees. We took photographs of them and then when we were home Eric added Joyce Kilmer's poem to the images, you can read it below:

Trees by Joyce Kilmer

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks to God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me.
But only God can make a tree.

Happy memories and this is why I used the first two lines as the sentiment. I generated it on the computer before giving it the same distressed treatment as the image!

IAAS Fancy Borders

This challenge at International Art and Soul is Fancy Borders. I've used my favourite border of all time and it's one of Spellbinders dies.

I've made a very simple CAS card but I love it (even though I do say so myself lol)

The card blank is a small Craft UK 6x6 and I used a background paper from one of my boxes of Craft Box goodies. I thought they were beautiful muted shades of pink and yellow with a darker lacy border printed along the bottom edge. It looked almost like earth and so I decided to stamp the tree as the focal point. The tree is by Bee Crafty and I stamped it in Memento brown ink. I cut the border in yellow card from Papermill and fixed it to the top edge. The card was finished.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Thank you for calling by and leaving me some comments, I appreciate them.

MAWTT Leaves or Trees

This week it was Sue's turn to choose the theme and she chose Leaves and/or Trees. Come along to Moving Along with the Times and join us.

My card blank is a large square by Joanna Sheen. I got my Brushos out again, as you can see. It's only the second time I've used them but I was quite happy with the outcome. The tree stamp is from Bee Crafty and I stamped it in Memento ink before cutting with a Spellbinders circle nestie and edging with Distress Ink. I used a Bee Crafty Inkable stencil of a large leaf and sprayed around the leaf image in Brushos greens and browns. I found the quote on the internet and after printing I edged that in Distress Ink and added a Recollections rhinestone to the corner. Job done!

My eyes are definitely better than they were but I still cannot cope with using the computer very long, watching television or reading. I suppose I'll have to get used to living with it. Thanks for calling by.

I'm going to attempt to link to some challenges so here goes:

Inspiration Destination 11

Once again we have two sponsors My Whimsical Little World and Crafty Sentiments over at Inspiration Destination for our challenge number 11.

My first card is showing the cat image by MWLW.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and after cutting with a Spellbinders wonky square die I edged it with Distress Ink in Barn Door. The card blank is a small square by Craft UK and I made the background by stamping a Sarah Beise cat stamp in black Memento ink. I coloured the collars on all the cats but only coloured in two of them fully. The cat image was raised on foam pads and the only embellishment was s small Meow button that I bought from Create and Craft. A very simple card but quite cute.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Animal Friends Challenge - Must have an animal
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Anything Goes
The Sisters of Craft December Challenge - Anything Goes
The Paper Nest Dolls Challenge - Anything Goes

This is my card using the image Hootie, Rain, Rain Go Away by Crafty Sentiments.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and used Inkssentials Glossy Accents on the raindrops. The pink card is from Papermill and the card blank is by Craft UK. I cut the image into a rectangle and used Distress Ink Stormy Sky on the edges. I set the image to the left. A Memory Box Bella Bouquet die was used to cut the flowers in white and then I coloured them with Promarkers too. The plantpot die was a prize I won a few weeks ago and I'm sorry but I have forgotten completely the name of the company, my apologies,  The little wooden snail I bought from Create and Craft and the sentiment was generated on the computer. After it was all finished I used Crafter's Companion Iridescent Spray and Sparkle on it but, unfortunately, it has shown up glue marks where the flower diecut  was stuck. It's not so noticeable on the card itself. Bother.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Craft Creations Challenge - Anything Goes
Not Just Cards Challenge - Anything Goes
Squigglefly Challenge - Emboss or Die Cut

Inspiration Destination Challenge 9

This week we have the sponsor, Sweet 7, for our challenge over at Inspiration Destination. Come and join us, remember we are always Anything Goes with a digital element.

My image is Sunflowers in Vase and can be bought here:       http://sweet7digitals.bigcartel.com/product/sunflowers-in-vase

I decided to make a DL card to follow the elongated shape of the vase and it turned out to be a very simple card. This is one of those cards when I'm thinking maybe I should have done something else with it, it's not one of my favourites.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut it with a Spellbinders label die before adding some Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer dots to the corners - in bronze. The sheet of pale yellow Papermill card was embossed as the background. A narrow bronze organza ribbon from Create and Craft was wrapped around the bottom. The image was raised on foam dots near the top and then an Inkadinkado sentiment was stamped in brown Memento ink and cut with a Sue Wilson resplendent rectangle die. This was fixed between the image and the ribbon and had a wooden flower added as the finishing touch. Hmm.............................

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Inspiration Destination Challenge 6

I've got two cards to show you today as the Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog is being sponsored by Gerda Steiner and Robyn's Fetish. Here is my first card showing 'Elephant with Balloon Bird' by Gerda Steiner.

My card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The two shades of orange card are both by Papermill. I embossed the paler card with the Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder of pennants before matting it on to the bright orange. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut with a Spellbinders grand classic circle, leaving the balloon to jut out over the frame. One of my new sentiments from Inkadinkado is cut with another Spellbinders die and is raised in the bottom corner. I decided to add some more animal friends and so used my Provo Craft dies to cut them in various colours.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Animals
Card Mania - Use your Dies
Crafty Cardmakers - Cut it Out
Eureka Stamps - Count Your Blessings
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Partytime Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Here is my second card using 'Puppy Paws' by Robyn's Fetish.

I just love dogs when they 'smile' at me, hence the sentiment. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut it using a Sue Wilson Italian collection die. I made the backing paper by stamping a Sarah Beise dog stamp in Memento ink over white paper. I matted it on to Hobbycraft pearlescent green card and cut four Signature corner dies by Joanna Sheen. The card blank is, again, by Joanna Sheen. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado and after cutting with a small Spellbinder resplendent rectangle I used two shades of green Distress Ink on the edges.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Card Mania - Use your Dies
Crafty Cardmakers - Cut it Out
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
