INTAAS Christmas Card

Come along and join us at International Art and Soul with your Christmas Card - a theme set by design team member Christine.

My card is a 6x6 scalloped blank by Craft UK.

I used an embossing folder of cascading Christmas emblems on the front of the card but I can only remember that I bought the folder from the internet and there's no name on it. The coloured card is from Papermill and I used Spellbinder dies to cut two scalloped ovals, one red and one green. The image was stamped from a set of stamps given as a free gift with a Practical Publishing magazine. I coloured him with my Promarkers before cutting with a Spellbinders oval die. I set the image on the mat of green and red ovals and set it as the centrepiece.

Thank you for your visits to my blog over the past year - have a lovely Christmas and all the very best for you and yours at New Year.

INTAAS - Dies or Punches

This theme was set by DT member Maggie, 'Dies or Punches', come along and join us at International Art and Soul and show us what you can do.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Crafts UK and all the coloured card is by Papermill. I had to use dies as I gave most of my punches to my great niece who likes to craft. I'm sure I've still got a few but can't find them in my craft room even though I searched. Oh well.

The die on the left is by Sue Wilson and the Happy Birthday die is a Spellbinders die. Happy Birthday was generated on my computer. I love this cat image but I cannot for the life of me remember where it came from. I can remember cutting it out quite a while ago but have no idea whether it was a digi or whether it's a stamp. I've got a Really Useful Box full of cat stamps, etc so I might do a search in there and see if I can spot it for future use.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Allsorts - Use a Die
Creative Fingers - Anything Goes
Crafty Critters - Anything Goes with a critter
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Show us Your  Pussies - Anything Goes with a Pussycat

Thank you all for visiting. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Holiday time. x

INTAAS - Use mainly Yellow and Orange

Come and join us over at International Art and Soul with our theme of Use Mostly Yellow and Orange. This was set by design team member CG.

My card blank is a 7x7 scalloped by Crafts UK. The yellow card is by Hobbycraft and was cut with s Spellbinder scalloped die, The orange card which was matted on to the yellow, is by Papermill and was also cut with a Spellbinder scalloped die. These were set as the base mat for the image of the dog. I coloured him with my Promarkers before carefully tearing him out. The image was then edged with a Distress Ink before centring him on the mat. I love this image of the dog, I think it's by Bugaboo but please correct me if I'm wrong. To complete the card I added three small peachy coloured pearls to the bottom corners of the orange mat. The pearls are from Mei Flower.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

INTAAS - Birthday

Please come and join us at International Art and Soul and show us your take on the challenge of 'Birthday' chosen by DT member Chriss.

I've used a scalloped 7x7 card blank by Craft UK. I used Spellbinder dies to cut out 2 scalloped cards in turquoise and red as the mat for the white scalloped image. This image is a favourite of mine but I cannot remember who drew it - I think it's a Bugaboo but please correct me if I'm wrong. I coloured the cute little elephant with my Promarkers. This card was to be for my daughter in law's niece and she was going to be the grand old age of 18. I printed a ClipArt figure 18 and cut it with a spiky scalloped Spellbinders die before edging with a turquoise Distress Ink. This was added to the top right corner of the image. Apparently she was thrilled to bits with this happy card.

I'm entering it into the following challenges:

I Love Promarkers - Anything Goes with Promarkers
The Paper Shelter - Colour It

INTAAS - Mode of Transport

Hello again, it was time for my challenge theme and I chose 'Mode of Transport' so come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My  card blank is, once again, a 7 x 7 by Craft UK. My chocolate brown card is by Creative Expressions and was set as the mat. I used Spellbinder dies to cut the green centre piece and the yellow 'sun', both cards by Papermill. The image is from one of Joanna Sheen CDs and I set it on the green shaped card with a row of green Mei Flower gems below it. I also used a strip of green gem ribbon which is from my stash of ribbons that I bought in America quite a few years ago. The stash is still going strong!

INTAAS Off to Dinner

I'm the host for this challenge of 'Off to Dinner' so please come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

I would like to think that I would go off to dinner looking like this but I'm afraid it would never happen. lol I did enjoy going out for dinner with my husband but I never felt the need to get too dressed up, apart from the fact that we didn't go anywhere too fancy!

My 7x7 scalloped card blank is by Craft UK. The lilac card is foundation card by Sue Wilson and I used a Spellbinder large scalloped square die to cut it as the base mat. I used a sheet of Joanna Sheen's lace paper, which I've had for years, and then cut it with  another Spellbinder die to make a strip across the middle of the mat. The image is by Rick St Dennis and I love it. I coloured with my Promarkers and then cut it with a large oval Spellbinder die. I touched the edges with Distress Ink . The finishing touch was to add three small pearls to each scalloped corner of the lilac mat. I think that the pearls were a freebie pack from somewhere.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Colour Crazy Craft - Anything Goes with coloured image NOT pre-coloured
As You Like it - Rubber, clear or digi and why - I prefer digis because they give a clear image and the Rick St Dennis classy ladies are all beauties!

INTAAS - Anything with a Bow

This challenge theme is 'Anything with a Bow' so come along and join us at International Art and Soul.

My card bank is by Craft UK and is 7x7. The orange card is by Papermill and after embossing with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder was set as the base mat. The image/sentiment is by Bugaboo and after printing it I coloured it with my ever present Promarkers in a vibrant orange with a few other colours to finish it off. I cut it with a Spellbinder die and set it centrally on the mat. Now to add my bow! I cut more of the orange card with what I think is a Memory Box die of the bow. After fixing it to the top right of the card it's ready to be posted at the beginning of January to a very good friend who will be 80 on her birthday.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

INTAAS Tic Tac Toe

The challenge this time, over at International Art and Soul, is Tic Tac Toe chosen by Jane.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK. I chose the middle row, horizontal, which is green, die and stencil. The die and stencil are both by Joanna Sheen. I made a mat of bright green card by Papermill and cut the fancy edge die in dark green Papermill card before adding it to the left side of the mat. I fixed the stencil to a piece of white paper and then used my Ranger ink pads to colour the flower and leaves. I cut it with a Spellbinder oval die and set it on a larger oval die cut in the dark green card. This was set to the right of the fancy edge. Three small green gems by Mei Flower were added to the top right, job done. My favourite colour and one of my favourite cards lately. lol

I think the photographs of my cards are getting worse. I've got a shadow across this one so I might have to investigate.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore Encore - Anything Goes
Love to Craft - Anything Goes

INTAAS to include an animal

This challenge over at International Art and Soul is to 'include an animal' so come along and join us.

My card is a 7x7 by Craft UK. I used a sheet of dark brown card, by Papermill, and embossed it with an embossalicious folder by Crafter's Companion. I matted this on to some beige coloured foundation card by Sue Wilson. The image of the cat, by Barbara Gray, was stamped in Memento ink in cocoa. I cut it with a Spellbinder die. Before adding it to the centre of the card I used a length of baker's twine to lie under the cat as if it had been playing with it. I also stamped a very small image of a House Mouse before adding it to the bottom right corner.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Gem of a Challenge - Anything Goes

INTAAS - Inspired by a Book

Come and join us at International Art and Soul in our challenge theme of 'Inspired by a Book'.

I did wonder if the card was to be inspired by a book or whether it was me who had been inspired by a book. I chose to make a card that shows a book that always inspires me. lol I love poetry and have quite a few poetry books but I go back time and time again to this one. The list on the top right of the photo shows some of the poems that are in this book. The lower list shows poems that I have loved and recited for many years. Jennie Lee is a poem that my mother taught me when I was very young. I've never met anyone else who knows it, apart from my cousins who were taught it by their father, my mother's brother. It was written during the reign of Queen Victoria but we have no idea who wrote it and I've not been able to trace it in any book. If I have trouble getting to sleep at night instead of counting sheep I recite the poems in the lower list plus Vespers. By the time I'm on to the fifth or sixth poem I'm asleep. I'd better stop waffling and get on to the details of my card.

It's a 7x7 card by Craft UK. The red card is by Papermill and the teal foundation card is by Sue Wilson. After mounting the red on to the teal I cut out a die in the teal, I think the die may be a Sue Wilson die but I'm not 100% sure. The fancy border was added to the lower section of the mat. I photographed my book and then shrunk it down to a suitable size before fixing to a teal mat. I typed the list of poems and then cut them with two Spellbinder dies before setting at an angle to the right of the photo. I added Mei Flower turquoise pearls to each list. The final touch was an Inspire charm by Craft Box that was set to the top left, tied with a little string of turquoise beads, also by Craft Box.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Gem of a Challenge: Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Try  it on Tuesday - Words or Numbers

INTAAS Tea Party

This challenge theme over at International Art and Soul was set by me and is 'A Tea Party'.  Come along and join us at our tea party.

My card is a large 7x7 scalloped card by Craft UK. I used a sheet of paper from a freebie pack in a Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and cut it using a Spellbinder scalloped die. I used another larger scalloped die, again by Spellbinder, to cut a sheet of pale lemon card from Papermill. I matted the  teacup paper on to the lemon card. The image of the cake stand was a stamp, again a freebie. I've had this sheet of stamps for years, given free in a magazine years ago. I stamped it in Memento ink in cocoa and then coloured with my Promarkers before cutting with a scalloped oval Spellbinder die. I set it to the upper left and then using another of the freebie stamps I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment. This was cut with another oval scalloped Spellbinder die before being set at a slight angle to the lower right. I added three small lemon pearls by Mei Flower under the words.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore Encore - Anything Goes

Thank you all for popping by, hope to see you again soon.

INTAAS Christmas card based on Christmas carol/Christmas song

A Christmas card based on a Christmas carol or Christmas song is the theme over at International Art and Soul so please come along and join us.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK, The white paper is embossed with a Crafter's Companion ambossalicious folder. I matted it on to silver card, from Hobbycraft, as the base mat. I've had the little Rudolph reindeer for a while and I'm not sure where it came from. I've got a feeling I got is a prize along with other charms. After sticking him to the centre of the card I used red Card Candi on some of the embossed dots, two of them were metallic just because I could. lol I generated the 'sentiment' in red on the computer before cutting with a Spellbinder die. I edged it with Distress Ink in Barn Door colour and then backed it on to a scalloped Spellbinder oval in red card from Papermill.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

INTAAS - Tiny Things

Our challenge theme is 'Tiny Things' which could be fun, I thought, so come over and join us at International Art and Soul.

Oh my goodness, I think I'm getting too old to get my brain in gear with these challenges. I did think this would be fun but then couldn't think of anything tiny. lol I asked my son and daughter in law and they suggested an Alice in Wonderland design, which I had thought about and then discarded. I was making some Christmas cards last week, sitting in my craft room and after seeing the challenge theme under my nose I started to sing 'Twenty tiny fingers, twenty tiny toes' and that was IT.

My 7x7 scalloped card blank is by Craft UK, surprise, surprise. The pale blue paper and the pale pink paper are from a pack that I've literally had for about fifteen years. I have no idea where I got it and who even designed/made it. I used Spellbinder dies to cut the blue scalloped square and pink oval. The 'Congratulations' is again from the same paper pack and was alongside lots of other sentiments on one sheet. I had thought of generating the word Twins on the computer and then thought people would know it was for twins so congratulations would work just as well. The tiny fingers and tiny toes are stickers that I bought from Create and Craft a loooong time ago.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

INTAAS Under the Sea

Come along and join us at International Art and Soul with our challenge theme of 'Under the Sea' chosen by Chriss.

My card blank as usual nowadays is a 7x7 by Craft UK. I used an image from the internet of some of the beautiful creatures that live under the sea. After printing it off I matted it on to some bright blue paper that I've had for years and never used - I have no idea where I got it. At the bottom of the bright blue mat I added some netting, plastic, hemp and some cling film to show the types of items that are discarded carelessly by some of the population of our wonderful world. A little star fish charm by Craft Box is entangled in the net and plastic. I generated the sentiment 'Stay Safe' on the computer and after cutting it with a Spellbinder wonky die I added it to the netting.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

INTAAS Humorous

The theme this fortnight at International Art and Soul is 'Humorous' and the challenge was set by me. Why do I think of the theme before I think of what I can do for these challenges? I'm sure I get a perverse sense of pleasure from the struggle. lol

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK  The brown and pink card is by Papermill. I embossed the brown card with an embossalicious folder from Crafter's Companion before setting it on to a pink mat as the background. I used a Clip Art image of a question mark and printed it in a large size in pink before cutting with a Spellbinder die. The quote is a stamp by PaperArtsy and I bought it a few years ago at Ally Pally and have never used it until now. It was stamped with Memento ink in cocoa which seemed appropriate. I cut it with another Spellbinder die and matted it on to pink card the same shape but slightly bigger before setting it an angle in bottom right.  My daughter in law spotted the stamp at Ally Pally and thought it was funny which prompted me to buy it - she loves chocolate! So - guess who is getting this card for her birthday?

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

IAAS Flowers and Butterflies

Our latest challenge is Flowers ans Butterflies so come along to International Art and Soul to show us what you can do.

My card is a 7x7 by Craft UK. The pale yellow card was embossed with an embossalicious folder by Crafter's Companion. I used Spellbinder dies for the bright yellow card and for the red mat to the image. All the coloured card is by Papermill. I coloured the image, by Sarah Kay, with my Promarkers before cutting with a smaller Spellbinder die of the red mat shape. After matting the image on to the red mat I set it against the  yellow circular diecut. The large yellow butterfly is also a Spellbinder die and that was set to the upper right of the image. The tiny butterflies are out of the bright yellow circle die and I scattered them on the pale yellow embossed card. Usually I don't use these but they were perfect for this challenge. I was finished, or so I thought. When I looked at it again the next day the  pale yellow card wasn't showing very well against the white. I decided to use one of my Promarkers, in Poppy red, to outline the yellow card. It looks much better now.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday - Use Dies and/or punches
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Paper Minutes - Butterfly
AAA Birthday - Things with Wings
Use Your Stuff - Flowers and/or butterflies

INTAAS one word sentiment used numerous times

Come along to International Art and Soul and join us in the challenge theme of 'One word sentiment used numerous times'.

My card is a 7x7 by Craft UK. The pale blue card is by Papermill and it's embossed with a Crafter's Companion embossalicious folder. The image is called Flowerpuppy and is by Bugaboo. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then matted it on to bright orange card fro Papermill. The image and the orange mat were cut with Spellbinder dies. I generated the word Hello in various fonts in orange before cutting each one with a Spellbinder die. I decided on different shapes for each Hello. I hope my great nephew likes this year's birthday card.

My favourite animal is a dog hence my card. We had cats for almost 50 years but after my husband died my sons persuaded me to get a dog for company. My last two cats died not long after I got the puppy so I was pleased that I'd ventured into the dog world. Every time I walk the dog I meet other dog walkers and they invariably speak to me. Lily is so friendly that she stops everyone so that they'll pet her and they all fall in love with her. She is my best friend.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - Anything Goes
Digi Choosday - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes
Alphabet Challenge - A is for Anything Goes

INTAAS Use Green as your main colour

Come and join us at International Art and Soul and show us what you can make for our theme of 'Use Green as your main colour' which was set by Maggie.

My card blank is a 7x7  by Craft UK. I have to admit that I have no idea where I got the bright background paper which I matted on to the sludgy green card as the mat. The image is called  Grotesque Cupid and is by Teri Sherman. I coloured the image with two green Promarkers and a Sakura glitter pen. His teeth look really nasty with that glisten. lol After colouring the image I cut it with a large Spellbinder circle die. I used a green Distress Ink to colour the edge of the circle and then added a light green 50, again cut with Spellbinder dies. This card is for my 'baby boy' who will be 50 in June. Where did those years go? I had a freebie stamp of 'Happy Birthday' which I inked with another Distress Ink in a darker green and I stamped it above the head of the cupid.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Through the Purple Haze - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
I Love Promarkers - Anything Goes with option of using sentiment

INTAAS -Use a Photo

It was Sall who set the theme over at International Art and Soul and it's 'Use a Photo'.

My card bank is 7 x 7 by Craft UK. I must apologise for the quality of the photo - it doesn't show the colours very well. The green card is by Papermill. I used a Spellbinder die to cut the background for the photo. The pale blue card is also by Papermill. I wanted to use a photo from my garden but they didn't really 'speak' to me. I got my camera out and braved the cold to take a photo of the Green Man plaque that hangs on the side of my garden shed. He's now keeping an eye on my garden for me. To me it looks greenish blue hence the choice of colours for the base. I fussy cut the image leaving the dark shadow round the edges and then set it on pads to raise it above the background. I'm sending this card to an old friend of mine who is an avid gardener.

I'm adding my card to the following challenges:

Creative Knockouts - Die Cuts/Punches
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread - Anything Goes

International Art and Soul- Monochrome

Come and join us with our challenge of Monochrome over at International Art and Soul - the first challenge of 2020.

I made a card with this sentiment just a few months ago but I decided to make another as I love this sentiment so much.

My card blank is a 7x7 by Craft UK and the red card is by Sue Wilson, the dark red card is by Hobbycraft. I embossed the red card with a Crafters' Companion embossalicious folder before matting it on to the dark red. I printed the sentiment on the computer and then cut it with a Spellbinder oval die. I used another Spellbinder die for the dark red mount for the sentiment. The butterfly die is by Joanna Sheen and I cut it in the dark red card and then added red mirri card behind each butterfly. The butterflies now look as if they have glistening wings. I set them to the left of the sentiment.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Brown Sugar - Anything Goes
A Bit More to Craft - Anything Goes
A Perfect Time to Craft - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore - Anything Goes
