December Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to this month's blog hop!  Our topic is Winter/Christmas and I have some fun projects for you!  I decided to try to use up some miscellaneous accessories I have, the Mica Flakes and Frosted Sequins.  Which means I have some fun shaker cards for you!  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 4 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Create with Cheryl. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

So here are my shaker cards, first up is a fun tree card using the fabulous tree framelit from the Santa's Sleigh bundle:

I started with a Garden Green card base and added a layer of Whisper White that had been embossed with the Falling Softly embossing folder.  I cut the tree out of that and placed a window sheet behind it.  The on the Garden Green base, I did adhere some fun patterned paper from the Warmth and Cheer DSP stack.  I filled the space with the green mica flakes and locked them in with the foam strips, which are great since they can bend around the spaces.  I added some more DSP and layered on my sentiment.

This one is my favorite.  I used the Flurry of Wishes stamp set with some non-traditional Christmas colors; Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky.  I punched the snowflakes out then stamped them through the holes.  I layered the back of the Soft Sky with the window sheets and made two sections with the foam strips for my sequins to shake in.  I added a big snowflake in the corner in Sweet Sugarplum and some additional little flurries in Soft Sky.  I also added some sequins on the card front as well.  I love how this turned out!

I was happy I got a chance to do this card.  I haven't really done too much with the bells, and this turned out better than I had hoped it would.  The gold mica flakes had me thinking about a shiny bell.  I added some holly leaves and bows from the Holly Berry Happiness bundle.  I decided to use some Warmth and Cheer DSP for the background, I love this argyle pattern.

CASE the Jars

The Holiday Catalog is chock full of CASE-worthy projects.  And as much as I want to say that all of my creations are complete Jenny G Originals, sometimes I need a little kick int he creative butt.  And that is why we CASE.  Today we are CASEing over at SSI.  Here is the card I am going to CASE:

I CASEd the Jar shaker card.  Here is my version:

I definitely swayed a bit from the catalog sample.  I used a very different color combo of Sweet Sugarplum and Mint Macaron with touches of silver.  Next time I need to be a little more aggressive with the inside of my shaker card.  I used the Frosted Sequins, which are easily overlooked in the Holiday Catalog, but are a MUST HAVE!  I also filled the jar with some glitter.  And instead of stamping on the "Merry" I used my Big Shot and cut it out in Silver Foil.  It might be hard to see, but the Sweet Sugarplum background is embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  Here is the inside:

I love the sentiment...so cute!  And I had to include that cute little snowman!  For a complete supply lisy, check out below.  Head over to SSI for more Holiday Catalog CASEs.

A Paper Pumpkin First

Today at SSI we are talking about our favorites on Friday and my favorite is the latest Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I got it on Monday and couldn't wait to do it.  In fact I did it that day, right away.  Here is a peek at the instructions:

The kit makes 8 super cute shaker cards that are super easy to make.  They will be perfect to send thank you notes for someone hosting Thanksgiving or just a thinking about you note.  Here are some close ups of the cards I made:

Cards can be made either direction and I just followed the directions.  It is hard to see in the pictures but the Very Vanilla background is slightly embossed with the a diagonal stripe which adds an elegant touch.  The rich colors of the card stock and sequins make this card perfect for the fall season.  I wish we could by those sequins because they are beautiful.  The directions to make the shaker cards were so easy to follow and now I just want to make more shaker cards!  I can't wait until the refills are available for this kit!

Head back over to SSI for more of the Design Team's favorites on this fabulous Friday!

Time to Party

Are you ready to shake it?  Cards, I mean.  We are looking at shaker cards at SSI today and I have a relatively quick and easy one to share today:

I used a very Chanel looking color palette of Blushing Bride, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.  Next time I do this, I will be sure to put more shakeables in my card, but I used some punched pieces and sequins.  Here is a close up of the shaker window:

With the Layering Square Dies, these cards are so easy to make.  Thanks for stopping by to see mine.  Head back to SSI for more shakin' fun!

Fairy Celebration Shaker Card

So my new favorite stamp set is Fairy Celebration.  I have loved playing with it so much recently!  I have now made three cards with it and can't wait to make another.  Today I am sharing my shaker card using this stamp set because we are shakin' it up over at SSI!  I am also using the sketch from Mojo Monday, check it out:

This was going to be just perfect for a shaker card!  Here is my creation:

Here is a look at it shook up a bit with Dazzling Diamonds.  So fun, right?

And here is a close up of the perfect sentiment and cool layering trick.

I used a framelit from the Rose Garden thinlits, cutting the white one and then using the framelit to trace and cut the Sweet Sugarplum one with scissors.  Another trick is to trace it on the Magnetic Platform so the framelit stays put.  Check out the inside:

This card was super fun to make, thanks so much for stopping by!  For more shaker cards, head back to SSI!

October Mystery Challenge

I love our Monthly Mystery Challenges over at SSI!  Donna always comes up with such great items.  Here is this month's:

Guess what?  I am going to go CRAZY and use all five!  Here is my project:

So I totally think I deserve bonus points because I also made it an easel card!  This was fun!  I used the Lighthearted Leaves and Vintage Leaves stamp sets along with the coordinating framelits.  I embossed the soft suede with the Woodgrain Embossing folder.  The sequins come from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot 2015 Accessory Pack.  Oh and that one leaf is totally cut from the burlap ribbon!  I think I am most proud of that!  The card base and the Thanksgiving sentiments are stamped in Island Indigo.  Check, check, check, check, and check!

So you don't have to go so crazy, pick any three of your favorite elements and upload your own creation over at SSI!

August Mystery Challenge

Welcome to the first installment of a new challenge at SSI, a Mystery Challenge.  Our fabulous designer Donna will come up with a list of five elements for you to include in your project and you need to use three of them.  This is what she came up with for August:

I am going to love these challenges!  I love the idea of putting the same elements together and seeing what everyone comes up with.  Initially I wanted to try for all five, but as my idea started to take shape, I ended up just using three elements; the colors (Night of Navy, Hello Honey, and Tip Top Taupe), the shape (star) and the embellishment (sequins).  Here is my card:

I knew I wanted to use the star from You're So Sweet and I decided to try for a shaker card to implement the sequins which are from the Metallic Sequins and the Gold Sequin Trim.  The Night of Navy patterned background paper is actually some of the Color Me Irresistible DSP sponged with Night of Navy.  Below is a complete supply list. We can't wait to see what you come up with!  Get creating and upload your project.  Need more inspiration?  Go back to SSI and check out the other designers' creations!
