Got some scrappy pages done

Whine ALERT!
I seriously brought too much stuff and while I
did get nine pages done, it was
painful.
I spent a lot of time looking for things, rearranging
things and hunting for things I laid
down 2 minutes ago.
Also, I apologize for the quality of the photos
but I have to strike while the internet is hot.

So far my decision to use up my Pink Fresh stash
has worked out.
I went to 4 Michael stores out here to pick up
my favorite pocket pages and none
of them had it.
Sigh.
It appears they're not stocking PL pocket pages in their stores.
I decided to use the campground map for this page
of my scrappy spot.
It was a beautiful day, albeit a bit windy, to scrap outside.

Picked up these free post cards and decided to pop
them in this pocket page.
They fit perfect and I'm leaving the backsides alone
so peeps can read the chockful of info on the back.

I do love these patches from the parks and I think
I've picked up one from each park - or close to it.
They also have coins too.
I had almost caught up LOL.
As if that's even possible, but hopefully I'll
get another break soon.

Had these pages done for awhile

There were issues of course.
I couldn't figure out how to photo them well and
just decided to roll with the iphone
because of the glare since I'm basically using
a variety of pocket pages and regular 8.5x10
and then of course internet- it is very sparse
out here as is cellular.
It is so not everywhere.
I am including (for now) the receipts and
pamphlets from the parks.
However, only a bit over a month into our trip
and the paperwork is overwhelming
so we'll see how this goes.
I'm also wondering why my pocket pages don't look as
cool as everyone elses.
However, they're fun and I should be
getting the hang of it soon.
I really like this particular pocket page as
things don't tend to fall out as much.

Really pleased with what I have so far.
I've been picking up patches and coins and other
do-dads from the park to include.
The embellies on this one actually came from a scrapbook
packet from Crater Lake Nat'l Park.

Washington DC photos from the wayback box

And I love them in a pocket page.
Some of these pix were mom's and some were mine she
had acquired because she liked them.
It worked out well because now I can point them to
the Road Trip album - which house a lot
of pix - starting from beginning to end of the trip I took
with Shane and Memaw.
We had so much fun traveling the highways and by-ways
together and the memories rock.

I looked at that Road Trip album and omgee it was done 14 years ago
when I thought I was "da bomb" of scrapbooking
and "heavy sigh" the pages are sooooo "at a loss for words" LOL
but the journaling in that album - NAILED IT.

Random photos in one page

Yup.
I've been getting into pocket pages and I absolutely love doing them.
Not all the time, but this past week and especially the
weekend my mojo done took a hike so
I've been reading and doing other
things because sometimes just stepping back helps.
Of course I stalk the videos too which I love too.

Anyhoo, I had all these photos chosen and printed and
they were getting overwhelming since I couldn't make a decision on anything
so then I had this brilliant
idea to just stick them all in a pocket page.
Shocking, I know, that it took awhile to think that one up. LOL.
But, I found that I had either scrapped them before
some going in other albums OR I really didn't have a story.
Not that I need a story but sometimes the story helps in the page design.
So.
Shazam.
It happened that I got all the grandkids on one page
AND my two kidlets.
How cool is that.
And I really like the randomness of the pocket pages.

I used some Tim Holtz stuff, WRMK PL cards
there is Studio Calico bits, punched hearts, QK and Mambi.

Remembering favorite things

photo 1-1
photo 1-2

Everyone has favorite things -
 things you enjoy
things that make you happy
things that bring you comfort
things passed down.

These are a few of my mom's favorite things
and some were my Gram's and then mine
and I thought it would be fun to showcase and
pocket pages worked it out the best.

Such a nostalgic page for me because some of the items
are not in my possession anymore
so it brings me comfort to see the photos of the items
especially when I see them as they were arranged
in mom's home.

Basic Grey, Bassil, various Studio Calico stuff, Doodle Bug stickers,
and thickers (which I turned the F around to make T's because
I was over finding a font that had letters I needed.

Same photos - different pages

I do little 8x8 pages for the family and I also
make pages for me....
Since I used the same photos it made sense
to post the pages in the same blog post.

I made an 8.5x11 for me of the granddaughter snowboarding
using a series of photos sent to me.
Using the Tim Holtz  coffee splatter stencil about
the page using white ink - I was disappointed when the ink
dried - as it was going on, and I layered it quite a few times
it looked like "snow." As it dried, however, it looks
like a spill. Used up an acetate ticket.
 Tucked some  QK snowflakes around
along with some bling.

Studio calico paper going on with some red things glued about too.

So below since the entire family went snowboarding
I did a 8.5x11 pocket page for them
using the same sequence of photos along with
the others.s
Used some of the Pink Fresh Christmas embellishments
scattering them about, some punched arrows
and Studio Calico stamp.

Tomorrow we're headed to the keys for a few days
of camping. Internet will be dicey but we're gonna have some fun!

I sense a pattern here

In more ways than one -
getting photos out of the box
another pocket page
using up those PL cards that seem to
mutate like rabbits.
The more I use the more I find.
Favorite eldest son home on leave and mom
caught pictures of him relaxing.
I'm also using up a bunch of bits and bobs too
which is wonderful.

Have a great weekend!

Photos from mom's wayback box

My wayback box is out of control so I decided
to plow through my mom's - it was
a mission for a photo of her and found a treasure
trove of photos of my kidlets as kidlets.
(And I didn't notice that stupid tag moved. Sigh
Says not a quitter under it).
Anyhoo, while I was plowing through the box I found a ton
of photos and these I decided to put together
as a "theme".
Nick on all of his rides throughout the years.
I thought that was pretty cool.

Of course the pix were all different sizes so putting
them on a mat was necessary.
I put a bit of journaling about his tenacity in learning
to ride, which didn't come easy.
That boy fell off the bike so many times I had to quit
watching because I wanted to make him stop.
But I had to let him persevere and sha-zam - he stopped falling.
Yay!! Go Nick.

Double pocket page spread

I have been wanting to do these pictures for a long time
but couldn't quite make myself do a 2 page
spread because frankly they baffle me.
So these pocket pages worked out perfectly.
(and my title is crooked. Sigh)

And on a somber note - NONE of these photos were marked
with the kids names (and I did know every one of them)
however since I'm just getting around to scrapping them now
some 25-some years later, I only remember a couple of names.
So mark your photos and ID them right away, just in case you
can't get to scrapping them right away.
I did round the corners and in hindsight I'm not crazy about it.
This is Nick's kindergarten class and every year the put on
a muscial/play and this year
was Jonah and the whale.
The kids and parents had so much fun and I never
laughed so much in my life.
(and yes I know Jonah and the whale was serious)
but they made it fun for everyone.

So they're lining up and the spotlight was getting into position,
well Nick wasn't happy the light was in his eyes
so mom got a picture of him pointing to the light and
waving his hand in a "move that" direction.

After they lined up to everyone's satisfaction, musical
instruments were dispensed and in the course
of that, one boy just fell off the stage - then popped right up again.
Needless to say it cracked everyone up.
THEN
there were the action moves while singing.
The entire school did a delightful job and I really didn't
want to have to pick and choose these pix.

Grandkidlets in a Pocket Page

I'm kinda getting the hang and liking pocket pages.
I've used a bunch of PL cards and
then found more 😕.
I printed a bunch of photos in different sizes.
Why? I'm really not sure.
Based on that indecision I broke out a different
design pocket page and started
laying them out.
Decision made!
It really worked out well having a bunch of
random photos - especially when
its all the same family
but hey, it could work for all grands too.

New Years Pocket Page

Last time when I was running low on page protectors
I grabbed a box without looking and wa-laa
50 project life pocket pages.
I decided to keep them because I'm seriously
running out of album storage so I may
play around with them more to reduce the amount of
albums I've been creating.
Since I create a page for 5 days each for the blog times
52 is about 260 pages a year.
About 3-4 albums sooooo....
if I want to highlight a certain photo I can do that too.
Love how this turned out for maybe my second or
third 12x12 pocket page (I have done smaller ones).
We took off camping for new year's
with some friends and camped in Fort Perkins for 2 days
and because of bad weather we left and went
back to their place (they have a nice slice of property)
 and camped out.
However, prior to the bad weather we did go on a field trip
to the Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Lighthouse.
I adore both.
It was a lovely time all around and very easygoing.

Storing different size pages in your 12x12

I have an acute tennis elbow or tendonitis in my right arm.
Let me say there's nothing cute about it.
Its keeping me from doing things I love; such as,
crossfit, scrapping, typing, any repetitive arm movements.
Extremely annoying I must say.

So therefore, I haven't done any scrapping - except minimal stuff.

I have seen this question or issue pop up in some threads
and thought I'd address it.
It appears that some scrappers love creating 8.5x11 or 6x12 etc
but feel that if they scrap in that size they would need
that size album.
I'm here to say au contraire, my friends.
I have been doing this for years - putting all sizes in my 12x12 album.
And I must say its really fun to flip through.
Not so much photographing though
LOL.

But fun to have them in my albums and mixed in between because
 A. There's no rhyme nor reason to my albums
(very freeing) I scrap whatever photo or story as the mood moves me
for my every day stuff. Therefore
 B. there's no matchy matchy (which I can
do in matchy matchy in like baby or heritage albums)
and also means there is absolutely no cohesive-ness to my albums
which I know that will drive some of you crazy.
I'd say welcome to my world - but I'm okay with it.
I tend to let some things dictate what size I will scrap, such as:
A. Size of the photo
B. How stinkin awesome the papers are on both sides
and do I want to use both sides somehow
C. The size of any leftover and/or hoarded paper I deem awesome again
and still want to use.
D. The size or lack thereof of the journaling, embellishments and titles.
So as I complete pages they get tossed in in random order.
As you can see here, I found some different sizes
that could use another page in them.
I love that -
Also you can see I have assorted sizes, 8.5x11, 8x8 (which you
usually have to punch a hole for it to sit right in the book) and
6x12. I'll soon have some 9x12 - can't wait to try that size.
Pocket pages are totally fun to add in
especially when I think I have so many amazing photos (in my head)
that I want seen and a windy story to tell.
I also have some leftover pocket pages that are random sizes from
my last travel trip that I'll be tossing in too.
Just because I can.
I love not being bound to the same size all the time.

Road Album - Completed!

My poor neglected blog. AND.....
I RAN OUT OF DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
Seriously.
There's a page on it - so there was that, dicey internet
and quick overnights.
Those are my excuses and I'm sticking to them. LOL.
Now I need new ones.

So....I thought I'd complete the book in one or two pages,
mostly because I seriously slacked in
picture taking the last couple of days and I just wanted
to get home.
However, I had more stories to finish than I thought.

This page is about our ride into Silverton and Ouray
that I did blog about and now its official.
I photo'd this 3 times and had issues with
the pocket pages glaring and then focusing. Arrghh....
Our ride into Santa Fe which was by the way a beautiful ride
however, parking a big rig with a tow in a historic district is a bit
tricky - as we found when we got caught up and
did a drive-by on the narrow streets, full of foot traffic and
no parking......so I think the let's move on bug
hit us both and we that's what we did.
So the pronghorn photos didn't come out well but
I used them anyway because I feel they
came out cool enough and it's my album. LOL.
And part of moving on were those ribs calling our
name from Blues City Cafe in Memphis.
I ate way too much.
The other stop before heading home was my dad's
in order to check up on him because
he's pretty active and I need to see what he's up to.
This year was the annual fish fry in the 'hood - where
peeps in the 'hood get the fish, fry it up and invite the entire
'hood to feast. I was busy eating, so lack of pix.
I am getting so lackadaisical by this time.
And there's my lament of double-sided tape - that happened
right after the snow photos from the last post.
We ended as we began checking in with favorite
youngest son. He's doing really good.
Ate at his restaurant - and it was de-lish.
Had brunch the next day and took the long ride home.
As we were riding, Tommy Traveling pants and I
were going over the stats and I thought
it'd be fun to include them.
And it was really - because wow - we did a lot when you
see it in black and white - or various colors.
And I have been waiting to use that card.
When we arrived home, I really don't like messing around.
I like to get the RV cleaned out and things put up.
Yesterday, I got back in my routine and worked out, then
had visits from my neighbor Gladys and friend Holli,
took a nap, and finished the book because
I have a ton of grandkidlet photos to scrap - so get ready.
The RV needs to be really cleaned inside and
readied for the next trip will be sometime in July.
So strap up your seat belts - we're gonna do it again.
I have a smashbook that needs to be used.
Thoughts on that?

Finally internet!! More scrapping on the road

I actually dithered about a bit with the Grand Canyon
pictures because I wasn't sure how I wanted
to roll -
I wanted to include the tickets and they fit perfect
in the pockets.
The "we're off" pocket pages fold over....
So this is how it laid out.
 And folded on the backside.
A 4x6 and 3x5 worked perfectly and honestly the
canyon is so beautiful its hard to capture or do it justice.
The train ride was a lot of fun and I'm glad I was
able to catch a photo on the return trip.
Then included some drive-by photos on the
landscape and some from the
 Natural Bridges and Cliff Dwellings.
Of course it wouldn't be complete with
the snow and the deer.
