Switching up to 8.5x11

Because I liked both sides of the paper and
I wanted 2 photos on the page
and because this is for Jill's album and I usually do 8x8.
Love the snow capped mountains and the "snowflakes"
that came in the Studio Calico December kit.
And when would I ever use Winter Wonderland.
And there's new snowboarding jargon that has been
reflected in the title that has snowy glitter on it.
How perfect is that.
Love that title.
Anyway the grands love the snow.
The love snowboarding which looks to be a lot of fun.
Maybe when I was younger.
Nope Nope Nope - don't like heights.
But its fun to watch.
And the #1 biggie - I am NOT that coordinated.

Same photos - different pages

I do little 8x8 pages for the family and I also
make pages for me....
Since I used the same photos it made sense
to post the pages in the same blog post.

I made an 8.5x11 for me of the granddaughter snowboarding
using a series of photos sent to me.
Using the Tim Holtz  coffee splatter stencil about
the page using white ink - I was disappointed when the ink
dried - as it was going on, and I layered it quite a few times
it looked like "snow." As it dried, however, it looks
like a spill. Used up an acetate ticket.
 Tucked some  QK snowflakes around
along with some bling.

Studio calico paper going on with some red things glued about too.

So below since the entire family went snowboarding
I did a 8.5x11 pocket page for them
using the same sequence of photos along with
the others.s
Used some of the Pink Fresh Christmas embellishments
scattering them about, some punched arrows
and Studio Calico stamp.

Tomorrow we're headed to the keys for a few days
of camping. Internet will be dicey but we're gonna have some fun!

Scrapping on an 8x10 and a video

I have done this before because I really love
doing it when the photo rocks.
This cluster is the only embellishment going on
and I love how it turned out.
So either the sentiment or the #dreambig
can be the title.
Love this photo of Amelia overlooking the mountain
prior to taking off downhill on the slope.
It almost looks 3-D.
At 5 years old she's quite the snowboarder.
Below is a short video of her rockin' the slope.

Stamping, Stamps, Stamping

I'm beginning to love stamps and Studio Calico
started a new thing and this month I was
able to pick between 2 stamp packages prior to receiving the kit
and I picked this one.
And once again, I used most all of them
several times.
I found it seems to make more of an impact using
them all - several times and adds
a cool background layer - I got this idea from Kitty Scrapper.
If you haven't seen her stuff - look her up.
She's fun.
I did get carried away a bit with the snowflakes.
Okay a lot carried away.
In my defense I live in Florida so seriously how often will
I get to to use it.
Of course what's snowflakes without a bit of sparkle
and shine - not to mention different colors.
Got some layers going on - don't layers make you swoon.
And that little stamped kitty is a whimsical twist.
I also used the stamp to put a border around the page it kindof
looks like my sewing so.....
it sort of worked out well and it was
really an afterthought.

Forgot to add a title

Titles are important - if they're good they draw the reader into your page.
For some reason I didn't title this page
and as of this minute my mind is blank so I'm
gonna just roll with that because...
well, the photos are pretty obvious and I kind of like
it without a title being that in the
design especially as there's not a lot of room leftover for one.

Trying to use up my Basic Grey stash - and there is
a ton as well as a bunch of PL cards.
That swirly thing and splat are from my new
Tim Holtz die cuts - love them and as promised I'm
using them a lot.

I'd ask for a title but I have sent this off.
Oooopps
But I'd love to hear what your title would be.
I can always jack it for the next snowy one LOL.

Found a collage template maker

Of course its been out there so long its free now and
while it has a variety - some of what I'm not really looking for,
there are some collages that I can use and below is one of them.
It is Picture Collage Maker 3 and it works on Macs.
It really wasn't too bad on the learning curve - I had a couple of moments
but I worked them out. It doesn't like changes and after you make
a change manual sizing is required.
And we all know how well I do lining things up.
Since it was an 8x10 collage I whacked the excess down and adhered it
to an 8.5x11 Recollections cardstock.
Black.
Mostly because black makes the photos pop.
I adhered it more to the left side to leave more room on the right
for embellishment clusters and of course
the way the photos came out - there was also room on the photo
to embellish.
Broke out my Paper Issues Swag Bag goodies and pulled
a bunch from there. They fit perfectly.
Love how it looks and I love getting alot of pix on one page.
Creatively.
The way they landed allowed for some embellies.
And journaling.
And a title - which of course is a snowboard term.
The crew - its peeps you snowboard with - and that's my crew.
And doesn't that 5 up there make you swoon.

Oh and when you save - save as a jpg NOT a pdf.
Why I went there I dont' know but it was an easy fix.

Created a title using a snowboard term

Yes there is a snowboard glossary.
Who knew.
I did because it seems to be my son's family's
favorite pasttime and I can't keep using the same one over and over
and over and over again.
There are alot of snowboarding photos.
Love these 2 pictures and I wanted them on the same page
therefore I went to a tried and true design for me.
Because they were two difference sizes its easier for me and my hair
pulling to mat them on one mat.
Also, the bottom photo had alot of white space going on
and being the brave scrapper that I am - I put the majority
well okay all of my embellishments on the photos.
Love how it turned out - although I wish I would've noticed
the strip was crooked before the glue dried.
But no matter - it works out mighty fine.
So the title "crunchy kid".
Crunchy in snowboard speak means "cool."
Therefore Miss Amelia is a "cool kid."

Snowboarding terms.....perfect title

And that's how I got the title.
CREW.
Defined as the people you shred with.
And it fit perfectly.
Literrally and figuratively.
I love it when a plan comes through.
Which means you actually have to have a plan and normally I don't.
However, you can't ever go wrong with a great family photo.
So this is mostly Studio Calico stuff
except for LYB and the bottlecap that I purchased at this
cool antique mall and I only have a few left.
I'm gonna be so bummed when I run out.
So this time I used the cardstock as a b
igger than normal mat
because again, it popped the photo out.
But I loved the pink striped paper that I felt worked for
snow because it was well pepperminty looking which just screams winter
right?

Some snowboarding terms for your viewing pleasure and you never know
when you can impress kidlets with your knowledge.

CRATER

A term used to describe a crash or fall.

DEATH COOKIE

a big snowball in the middle of a run frozen to the ground.

EAT SNOW

Same as face plant.

KRUNKED

Someone that gets so messed up they cant move for like 45 seconds.

SHRED

To tear up the terrain.

Future Olympic snowboarders

Otherwise known as shredding.
And they got game.
Waiting to conquer the mountain.
If you'll notice there's a gocam on Q's head.
I need to figure out how to view them.
Although as the Grammy I probably don't want to look.
Like we need more adreneline junkies in the family.
I'm not one of them, although from
the photos it does look like fun and maybe
one day I'll give it awhirl.
Mom did say that an eagle eye and bungy cord was necessary because
they were feeling the need for speed.
Again, like I needed to know that
LOL.
Broke out my new Studio Calico kit, along with some Simple Stories
and thickers. Its 8x8 which means mom'll do the journaling and I wanted to have the
three of them on one page -
and none could stand still long enough for one photo of three.
I have more.
