There are many times that organizing ideas just happen, and this is one of those times! I wanted something to hang up the schedules for each of my kids' activities but I didn't really want it out in the open. I've done file folder and they do fine, but I changed thing around since re-doing my command center recently and wanted to keep those papers close by me in my home office.

Adorable, Organized Home Office in a Small Rental Home
I just love the start of the year don't you? After the busy holidays I am always eager to put away the decorations, clean house and get organized. I love filling out my calendar and sorting through last year's papers to get rid of everything I don't need and I especially love how much more time I have to work on these things in the month of January. Today I'm going to show you my adorable, organized home office in my rental home.
This is a post by my assistant, Tiffany, who is sharing her home office she made in her rental home! Come see the rest - it's SO cute!

How to Get Organized Without Spending Any Money!
Getting organized doesn’t have to be costly, especially since
doling out money on cute but pricey organizing containers isn’t the solution. Believe me, I understand the lure of
container shopping but urge you to hang onto your money until you edit your
stuff. It’s likely you won’t need
containers if you edit enough stuff.

Organized Creative Corner for Just $15!!
This post is by my assistant, Tiffany. Enjoy!
When I want something beautiful to hang on my walls, need someone to take family photos or want help organizing a lovely party I am so thankful to live in a house full of "creatives." Often times, however, this creativity comes with a bit of a mess. The random art supplies that my family collects and uses on a regular basis can quickly take over the house if I am not diligent to corral all of it. In this post I will show you how I was recently able to make a tiny artist studio space in our home.

OMF to the Rescue: Mona's closet
It's time for another OMF to the Rescue! I received this email a little while back and wanted to help her desperately!
Mona wrote to me and ask me this:
I am in desperate need of a closet redo and was wondering if you would mind making some suggestions. Basically I share my closet with my elderly mother (tore down wall between for more space) and it is not efficient at all. The closet is 44 1/2 inches wide, 58 inches deep, and 8 feet high. I have shelves on both sides (48 by 11.5 inches) two feet below the ceiling. The closet opens to both rooms by doors on either side. I have attached a couple of pictures so you could get an idea. I am looking for budget friendly solutions (hopefully around $100 for total redo) because I had to cut down on work to care for my mother due to some health problems. Basically, I am going to repurpose things I already own and hope to buy some low cost storage solutions (shelf dividers, storage boxes). Please help!!!
So, here are some of my ideas to help her with her problem.
If possible, I would suggest actually taking down one side of hanging. The closet is just so narrow that you can't walk through it when the clothes are hanging - as you can see above. Use one rod but add a double hanging rod. This will take up about half the side of the rod so that she can store her shorter items on top and her mom's items on the bottom - separate but still in the same space.
For the rest of the rod, where they are hanging longer items, you can divide it with simple dividers {very inexpensive}.
Across from the hanging, once you've take down the other hanging storage, I would suggest getting a narrow dresser or shelving. You can re-do one you already have OR get one at a garage sale. If you can't find anything that narrow, here is one above that is narrow and has wheels to roll in and out and is inexpensive.
Here is what you could even do with an old dresser or nightstand. They even added a little chair here next to it, but a roadside rescued dresser with no drawers can be turned into something clever for your pants and sweaters.
You can make baskets using cardboard boxes that you can fit to your shelf to hide ugly things or just leave open like above.
Above the small shelving you can use molding for something like this to hang shoes.
Or, use that wall to your advantage - as a matter of fact, use the two doors on either end of the closet to your advantage also and put stuff on the back of the doors. I have a whole post about that, but here is an example above.
And another here...You can also use command hooks to hang up all sorts of things on the walls up high or low - and even on the back of the door.
Add a laundry basket or a laundry sorter, this one above is a little more for your budget at $60 but would be a really good use as the bar can go up and used to hang clothes, as well you can roll it to your laundry area OR just grab a bag or sorted laundry and take right to the laundry room. I hope all these ideas have helped Mona AND you, too! When you have a small budget, it's possible to organize but you may have to put in a little more work to do it!
Keep your pictures coming...I enjoy trying to help solve your organizing dilemmas. Email me and send me the pictures of your unorganized spaces. Anyone else have any other ideas for Mona's closet?

OMF Headquarters: the organizing
I can't reveal my fabulous office and leave you hanging, can I? There is so much in the office to show you that I purposely had to have a separate post on JUST the organizing!
So, last week I revealed the whole office in all its glory! Now, up close, I'll show you how I keep my desk and everything else organized in there. My desk is very important and must do a lot. When I got ready to paint it - the beast - I decided I was getting rid of anything that wasn't necessary. That meant that my hubby's stuff in the desk was going to need a new home, too!
I'm going to start with the middle drawer. I've used small ramekins to hold my pretty paper clips and small binder clips and other small but important things.
I have my pocket digital camera and it's components in a box lid and then my other baskets holding necessary cards in one and my picture hanging strips in the other - which, by the way are AMAZING and I used them exclusively for hanging everything in this new office.
The drawers on the top left are organized simply - the top, with basic office needs {stapler, scissors, hole punch, tape, etc.} simply lay in there neatly. The drawer under, I have a drawer divider that I used to divide up my "bill paying" drawer, which holds my checkbooks and deposit envelopes {and a cute owl wallet for use here and there}.
My file drawers are the two least exciting drawers. But, I fit a small filing cabinet FULL of files into my two bottom drawers. I got rid of all kinds of stuff so that I could get rid of the cabinet and keep it all in the desk. The best part: I now file much better because it's right next to me. I hate filing, so I need as few excuses as I can get!
My right drawers hold my label holder and some more binder clips - the other one holds all my stationary for writing cards and such, using an acrylic hair accessories organizer.
On the top of the desk is the large hutch. I use the back of the door {of course} by putting cup hooks on them and using a binder clip to clip things. I have one door that holds invitations to things I don't want to forget and the other door holds my daughter's "art of the day" {yes, she LOVES to draw constantly and give to Mom}. By the way, she knows that she has to take down the old stuff and get rid of it so we don't get overloaded with too much.
So, next we move on to the middle of the hutch. I got these beautiful office storage boxes in turquoise to add a pop of color while organizing all my camera equipment discreetly. I need to get at this stuff frequently and hide it in here, or I can throw it into my camera bag easily.
On top of my hutch, I have cardboard magazine files that I've covered with the same fabric I used on the magnetic bulletin board. Then, I asked seejanework.com to send me some of their pretty organizing goodies for my office and they sent me these fantastic clip-on label holders - which you can use for these magazine holders and for binders, too.
Other areas around my desk that I organize are some magnetic clips from See Jane Work, a pretty "ocean" basic binder also from SJW that I'm using for a family binder, vintage wire wall pockets from SJW filled with garden delight file folders they sent, also. I finally got this cord wrap to keep my cords neat, too.
The last area I have organized is the printer stand. You may remember that I mentioned that we had to make this from two pre-fab bookshelves screwed together. My list of needs for this room, was to have a place to fit my printer, shredder, receipt scanner AND my laptop and camera bags. Well, I did it with this printer stand! The handbag storage bin I got is large enough to fit these two bags. Whew! That's pretty much IT for all the organization! I hope you enjoyed it and got some great tips or ideas for organizing your office or drawers!

For the love of organizing!
Sometimes I just have to share the times when I find simple organizing so much fun - for the pure love of organizing!
So, this simple and easy tidbit is purely for my own enjoyment - that I hope to spread to you! I bought the above containers at Ikea. It's a pack of six different storage boxes and they come in a flat pack like this.
Pretty neat, huh? I like that they have zippers to zip them up!
I was inspired when I was at my friend, Nicole's, house and her girls' drawers were full of them. {see above}
OK...so, in my excitement I decided to use them in my daughter's drawers in her closet. Remember this Elfa drawer system?
Well, it works great, but it needed a little tweaking! Her pants look nice when I placed them in the drawer, but as soon as she would take out the one on the bottom {kind of like the shirt dilemma} the stack was a mess! So, here's what I did!
First I took her pants and folded them in thirds. I do this in my own closet drawers and my hubby's closet too.
But, it didn't work in the storage boxes right. So, I tried folding them in quarters and that way worked just how I imagined it!
Now they are stacked nicely for her to pull out {without messing up the rest of the pants}, and look at all that room left in the drawer!!
I also organized her pajamas and swimsuit drawer - yes, it's a weird combination of clothing in one drawer, but it works for her! Well, that's it for the fun! Hope you are inspired...have you had any fun organizing a drawer lately?
