someone special

Hello!
Today I have a card using the die set Lots of Pops from Elizabeth craft designs by Karen Burniston.
This is my first card using these dies and I must say, they are so much fun!
You can build the cutest scenes with this die set.
I used the paper pad Park Bench by Fancy Pants, it matched the ink colors perfectly!
The paper ric rac was cut with the MFT jumbo ric rac die and the scallop on the edges with the open scallop die.
I used a star on the sentiment tag.
 I had this piece that I made using Wendy Vecchi's Archival reinker technique.
I thought it would make a cute background.
The stamping was done with the Crafty Secrets Kewpie's stamp set.
I went to the website and it looks like the set is sold out, but, there are more Kewpie sets for sale.
 The reinker colors are Archival dandelion, forget me not and the stamping was done with jet black.
I used Distress Markers and Copic markers for the coloring on the Kewpie's.

Thats it!
I hope you can upload your colorful creation to The Journal for a chance to win some spending money at Inspiration Emporium. Remember, you can use my discount code ieirisgarden for 10% off your oder!

and the winner is.......

..... Sheri!

Congrats Sheri, you're the winner of my give-away!

Blogger Sheri said...

I think it is a great idea. In fact, I have often thought about how to run a "rent a stamp" store somewhere. Sometimes you buy a stamp and only can use it a very few times as it is specific, like Christmas card stamps. Once you have made them, you want to make something different the next year and then this years stamp sits and gathers dust. However, someone else could use it and pass it down from there.
I'll be contacting you shortly, Sheri!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want to thank everyone for playing along.
I will be giving gently used stamps in my future give away's :)
I'm hoping to do these give away's more often, maybe in a few days, stay tuned!
A Crafty Secrets Halloween
These are the new Crafty Secrets stamp sets.
Yes, we all know how I love Halloween and all things scarey, did you know I own every Stephen King book that he's written, read them all but the Dark Tower series, never could get into those. The man can scare you and crack you up all in one paragraph. Can you believe he was an english teacher before he made it big in writing?
OK, enough about Mr. King.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 The vintage images in these sets are so fun. The labels are perfect for your bottles of brew or signs like I used on the tag. I LOVE the chain stamp, it's so perfect with this set and for little details.
For the tag I added Distress Dried Marigold and Dusty Concord with my blending tool. I dipped a paint brush in water and flicked it on the tag for the water drop look. I think that adds so much to a distressed project.I used me Dylusions Luscious Leaves stencil on the top and right edge and dabbed on paint with my pitch black Paint Dabber, let that dry and added some highlights with my Gelly Roll white pen. I stamped the cawing crow candy label and colored it with Copic markers y15, yr18, g21, bv02 and e57. I stamped the spiders and the sign arm hanger thingy, I know there's a better name for it, lol, and chain. The Spooksville and little scene along the bottom are from the Jolly Hallween set.
I finally jumped on the washi tape wagon and added a couple of pieces under the green button brads. I added black Kaiser rhinestones on the corners of the sign. The chipboard star is covered with Martha Stewart Onyx glitter. I colored the white seam binding with the Distress inks. I added a trinket pin and type charm C for candy :) through the ribbon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a atc card I made with the Jolly Halloween set.
I stamped the black cat sitting on the pumpkin on paper and did the cracked glass technique. I covered it with VersaMark ink and poured on clear embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool. I did that 3 times and put it in the freezer to harden up faster, then I bent it to get it to crack. I put it behind the Autumn Leaves silver frame. I used the Cracked embossing folder on the base paper and went over it with Distress Vintage Photo and Black Soot ink and a blending tool. I cut the strip of polkadot paper and used the lace stickers on the top and edges. I stamped Boo at the bottom and the cute little skeleton. I stapled on some black May Arts lace with my tiny attacher. The moon it covered with more Martha Onyx glitter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I hope you have some fun with the new Crafty Secrets Halloween stamp sets, they are a must have for Halloween lovers!

top dog mini

I RUFF Crafty Secrets, don't you? I just can't get enough of their stamp sets.
I just got the new Halloween sets, holy cuteness, Batman ;)
Today I'm showing you another couple of mini pages using the new Top Dog stamp set.  I'm an animal lover, I grew up with every domestic animal you can think of and not so domestic ones too, so these new sets are right up my ally!
I decoupaged the background with papers I printed from the Creating with Vintage CD's. I tore some and cut some, just random paper scraps I had printed. I used some washi tape down the center to make it clean looking. I stamped the scallops on book paper with the Artsy Banners set using Archival Jet Black ink.
I used a chipboard fancy frame, they're sold out - but any frame would do - for the pup and the embossed alpha chipboard for the xo. I colored them with copic markers b21 and r27. I also used e31, e57, e37and rv11 on the pup. I put fired brick distress stickles on the xo and waterfall stickles on the frame.
The friends sentiment is mounted on a piece of cardstock cut with a Spellbinders scalloped rectangle die.

Cutie Cats

I have a new journal.
I got this one at Hobby Lobby, it 's 3 3/4 x 5 1/4.
Crafty Secrets stamps are mostly small like most stamps and it's harder to fill a larger journal page, the way I like to journal , anyway.
So I thought this would be perfect for Crafty Secrets journal pages.
I used the new medium stamp set Cutie Cats for my first pages in this journal. I love cats, so, this was a no brainer :)
I used Dylusions spray inks in postbox red and pure sunshine for the background, I sprayed the pages with water first. I used Dylusions 5x8 dotted flowers stencil and dabbed the dots with white acrylic paint and a paint dabber. I watered down some of the white paint and flecked some on the background by tapping the paint brush with a pencil. I stamped around the edges with a line design stamp and paw prints stamps from the set. I used Archival Jet Black ink to do the stamping. I stamped both cats colored them with the ink sprays and a fine tip water brush. I found some of my old labels that I got in a box of stuff at an auction and used this postage one.
I put some old photo corners on each corner. I love the sentiments in this set, I used 3 of them here.
I put orange peel stickles here and there on the pages. I used my Sakura micron 08 pen to do outlining.
I put the journal on this clipboard to hold it open so I could get a good picture.

fairies and pixies

Good Morning!
I have 2 atcs to show you made with the new Crafty Secrets Fairy Wishes and Pixie Dust stamp sets.
Oh my.....how cute are these sets?! Adorable!!

The one on the left is made with the Fairy Wishes set. I stamped the fairy, bird, xox and the scroll along the bottom with Archival Jet Black ink. The background papers are printed from the new Crafty Secrets  Creating with Vintage Typography CD. I colored the images with Copic markers e00, rv11, r83, bg72, g21, y17, y0000 and b21. I added glitter to her wings and Amuse twinkle stickers to her antennas and by the bird. I used my tracing wheel for the faux stitching around the edges. I used my blending tool and Distress Vintage Photo ink to distress the edges. I attached some May Arts zigzag velvet ribbon with my tiny attacher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the rectangle one I used the Pixie Dust set. I used mostly the same supplies. The Copic markers I used are g82, yg23, bg72, rv11, e57, w3 and e00. I used some mini pompom trim. I stamped one of the flowers again and popped it up with a piece of a foam dot for a little dimension.
Head on over to the Crafty Secrets blog and see what's going on, there is always something fun!
Have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!
Crafty Secrets American Beauty and a give-away!
Just think, in less than a month it'll be time to celebrate the 4th of July!
Now would be the perfect time to get started on those BBQ invites and cards.
Sandy at Crafty Secrets has the cutest new set called American Beauty.
There are so many stamps on this set including my fave little Campbells soup kid!
I used 10 of the stamps on my journal pages and I used the Artsy Banner set for the banners along the top and bottom, I stamped them with Archival Jet Black ink on an old book page and cut them out. I stamped the inside of the top banner with one of the star stamps with Archival Vermillion ink, then I put Fired Brick Distress Stickles in the center of the stars.
The page backgrounds are made with Dylusions spray inks in postbox red, london blue and a spray water bottle. I used my new Distress Markers, L  O  V  E these markers, to do my coloring on the
Campbells kid, flags around the borders and the lady.
I was looking at the pages later and decided I wanted to try some doodling and out lining like I see on so many journal pages people make. I didn't do much, but, I thought it really added to the pages. I used my Gelly Roll white pen and a black fine tip pen.
The white-ish circles are made with Dylusions 5x8 Dotted Flowers stencil. I layed it on the page and sprayed water on it, blotted the excess water and dried it with my heat tool.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It just so happens I have an extra American Beauty stamp set and I'm going to give it away to one of my readers! All you need to do is leave a comment on this post for your chance to win, I may throw in an extra item or 2 or 3!
I'll pick the winner Monday, June 18th.

pre-school grad gift

Good Morning!
Today is graduation day for Jasmine, she's going to kindergarten next school year!
She's so excited to start school!
I made her a little gift filled with tags with pictures on them and we'll stuff some cash in there for her.
I used the new cd3 Creating with Vintage Typography from Crafty Secrets. See the little streamers hanging from the flower? I printed those from the CD and I printed all the tags too.
It so super simple to make a quick gift, like I did here.
I used some supplies that were already on my table, the Artsy Banners stamped book page, flower and lace. I love when it works out like that.
I can't remember where I got the bandaide tin, I've had it a long time.
Since I took these pictures, I've punched holes in each tag at the corner and put them through a binding ring. I thought she would keep up with the tags better that way.
I punched various pictures of her into 1 1/4" & 1 1/2" squares and adheared them to the tags, I distressed around each one with Distress Vintage Photo ink and a blending tool, then I added the ribbon and buttons, so easy!

See all the tags, they are gorgeous!

Sing for Joy

Good Morning!
I have another journal project to show you today, are you getting tired of them? I sure hope not because that's all I want to do!
It's Linky Party time again, post any sample you have created with any of our products at our 2nd Linky Party starting this Monday, May 5th and it runs for a week. A random.org winner will be chosen from all the entries to win a $50.00 Crafty Secrets Gift Certificate.
That's a great prize and it's so easy, just post your sample at the Crafty Secrets blog!

 For these journal pages I wanted to use Crafty Secrets Sing for Joy stamp set. I LOVE it, there are SO many cute images to use. One thing about journaling you have room for tons of stamps if you want to use them.
The background was sprayed with water and then sprayed with Dylusions bubblegum pink, squeezed orange and vibrant turquoise spray inks, then dried with my heat tool. I used the 5x8 dotted flowers stencil and my snowcap paint dabber to go around the the edges. I used the same stencil and my aqua paint dabber here and there for the dots. I used my Archival Jet Black ink to do my stamping and my white Gelly Roll pen for the little dogwood flowers. I colored the images with the spray inks and my fine tip water pen.
There is baby blue and cotton candy stickles in the flower centers and on the black stamped edge.
I put Glossy Accents in the bird bath to look like water.
That's it, I hope you play along in the Linky Party, you never know, you could be the winner!

dahlias & sunflowers

I'm back with a couple more art journal pages, they make me happy :)
I felt like I was in such a rut until I took Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 class and happened on some videos by Dyan Reaveley. Something just clicked for me, learning to use ink in different ways!
Now, I'm an inky mess when I go to work every morning, LOL!

I used the Crafty Secrets Sunflower and Dahlia stamps for my pages, they are so pretty watercolored!
I stamped them with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and used my fine tip water brush and Dylusions spray inks for the coloring. The background pages were done by spraying them with water and the Dylusion inks and letting them run together and I dried them with my heat tool. The white leaves around the edge of the pages were made with the 5x8 Lucious Leaves stencil and the snowcap paint dabber, I outlined them with a black Sakura archival ink pen. I dabbed some Rock Candy Distress Stickles on the flowers, I wish you could see it better.
If you haven't got all inky, I urge you to give it try! I love the idea of art journals, all your pretties in one place. You only have so much wall space and so many cards to send :)

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Art Journal & my anniversary give-away

Happy Tuesday!
I've got something to show you today that is totally different than my normal paper crafting.
I'm taking Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 online class and I have learned so much about the different Ranger inks and all the ways to use them.
I've also been watching Dyan Reaveley's videos from CHA on YouTube, I love her style of art! I was amazed by her art journals, just gorgeous! I was on a mission Saturday, going to flea markets looking for an old journal.and I found a small one with black suede covers, perfect! I spent most of the day Sunday trying my hand at a journal page, I have never been so inky in my life. One thing stuck in my head from Dyan, you never mess up, just go with it! This was really hard for me, usually everything has it's place and the ink has to be stamped perfectly, etc.

The background isdone with Ranger Distress Stains in Broken China, Spun Sugar, Sage Shadow, Peeled Paint & Fired Brick. I also used my Copic Opaque White and black & white Enamel Accents. Everything was stamped withArchival Jet Black ink. All of the stamps I used are by CraftySecrets, I used ABC Tophat for my letters, Flourishes, Mini Memories and Antique trims. SWEET Campells Soup painter girl is from a new set called All Dolled Up, Sandy said it will be available this Thursday in the store, I adore this set, it's a sweet paper doll set, ahhhh, the sweet memories of childhood! I thought she went perfect with the art journal theme!
In Tim's class he taught how to use the  Ranger inks in so many different ways. For my background, I misted the page with water and then I went to town adding my stains everywhere, I sprayed on more water, wiped off the excess and dried it with my heat tool. Then I misted some water in my hand and flicked it on the page for the water marks and dried that. All of the stamping was done after I did the background. The little girl is paper pieced with paper from my Crafty Secrets Creating with Patterns CD.
Sandy showed me a video yesterday by Diane from New Zeland. She uses Tim's ticket die and Distress inks to make the coolest embellishments, you gotta check it out.
So, what do you think? Remember, it's my very first journal page, please be gentle :)
I've really been in a stamping slump lately, I feel so into it now with a new way of creating for me. Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 class and Dyan Reaveley work have opened a new door for me, I'm pretty darned excited about it!
I'm waiting on a HUGE order from Inspiration Emporium, oodles of Dyan's goodies and the Distress Markers.
If you place an order from Inspiration Emporium don't forget to use my coupon code ieirisgarden at check out for 10% off your order.

Anyway, I'm doing a give-away for my blogoversary!
I've got 2 bottles of Glimmer Mist, 2 Crafty Secrets Image and Journal Booklets, 2 Copic markers, 3 pages of lace stickers by Crafty Secrets and a Creating with Vintage Patterns CD by Crafty Secrets.

Easter tag candy holder

Ahhhh, Spring is finally in the air!
It's supposed be in the 70's this week, close to 80, YAY!

I decided I wanted to make an Easter tag candy holder with the sweet little bunny die by Sizzix for Alterations. It comes with the bunny and the bow, cute, huh?
I had fun dressing him in his bunny Sparkly Fluff, Cotton Candy, Distress Stickles and a pom-pom tail. I attached him to a mini rosette.
To make the tag holder, I used a 8x4" manilla tag, scored it at 5 and 5 1/2", covered it with paper from the Vintage Shabby Paper Stack. I cut some paper lace with my Vintage Lace die and attached it to the front of the tag with about 3" hanging off each side. I folded it around to the back of the tag and stapled it to the back with my tiny attacher. This way it holds the front of the tag in place and open so the candy will go inside.
I used an office supply tag to stamp the sentiment on, it's from the Crafty Secrets Happy Easter stamp set.
Look at the white chocolate bunny with the pink bow, just perfect for my tag holder!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, that's it! I hope I've inspired you just a little today to make a candy tag holder of your own!
Have a great day!
Crafty Secrets Valentine Kit
Hello friends!
I've got some Craft Secrets to show you today. Everything is printed from the Crafty Secrets Valentine Kit., the card box, card, cupcake wrappers and cupcake picks.
I had fun with this set, isn't the little girl sweet? I found this bouquet of heart lollipops at Walmart for $1, I knew they would be perfect for this card and to use on the cupcakes. I punched the holes in the card to slip the sucker through. I don't have the long reach Crop-a-dile, so I used my awl to make the holes where I wanted them.
This is the card box. You print it on white cardstock, cut it out and its ready to use, so simple. I cut out the cupcake image and put red Damask vintage glass glitter around the heart. I adhered the cupcake with foam squares and made a bow with Martha Stewart ribbon and a vintage button.
This is the back of the box,  I used a rosette for the closure and a velcro circle. The center of the mini rosette has Cotton Candy Sparkly Fluff on it.
This Valentine Kit would be cute for a little girls birthday party too, the invitations, everything you need for a party! You don't have to add the sucker, just print, score and fold the card, simple.
The back of the card.
The inside. I cut out the heart image to cover the holes and stick.
Another little image for the cupcake pick.
There is so many images in this kit, they are so vintage and so fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are supposed to have some winter weather moving in tonight. If we are going to have snow I wish we would have a bunch of it, 12-18", I don't want to mess around, LOL!
Y'all have a great day, and a lovely Valentines Day,  thanks for stopping by!
