Cocktail Emma

Happy May Day everyone, anyone got anything nice planned?  Nothing much on the cards here, I was hoping to go for a run, but yet again I have woken to rain.  Think it's set to improve though so hopefully this afternoon I'll get out.

A new stamp purchase for me today after I was requested to make a cocktail themed card for a friend. Honest, I did check through all my stamps before I headed online and found this super digi from Pink Gem.

So said image was partially coloured with Promarkers, paper pieced and then given a good dose of glossy accents, which resulted in...

Think I'll do more like this for my card box as I have a feeling an image like this could sell quite well after all who doesn't like cocktails and this is a great party/celebration style image.

Challenges;
Pink Gem - Favourite colour combo - Black/white/grey
Allsorts - With a cherry on top!
Fussy and Fancy - Female Birthdays
Through The Purple Haze - Add a number

Monica

I'm doing quite well with my card making this year - think I'm averaging at about two cards a week, which is down from my all time best, but up from last year again! (In case you wanted the statistics!!!)

This card however was made a while ago, and came to the surface when a neighbour wanted a card - I then realised it had not been blogged to here it is now!

The image is a gorgeous Hannah Lynn - although she is looking a bit pasty faced - think that's partly down to the flash but also my limited colouring skills.  Hopefully that will be resolved this year if I can find time to do a Kit and Clowder class - or two! (They are on my to-do list!)

Challenges;
Allsorts - Birthday Wishes
I Love Promarkers -Punch (Leaves) - Flower -Pearl
Passion for Promarkers - Luscious Locks
Ribbon Girls - Use any image
Lil Patch of Crafting Friends - Anything goes

Cat Scratcher

I made this card at the beginning of the week, but it has taken me all week to get it uploaded. Conflicts and unsupported program warnings kept flashing up on my computer, so hubby decided to give it an upgrade!

So it's official... I hate change!  He asked me if my computer was now running quicker, which it is, but everything else is running slower, he's moved things into folders to tidy up the desktop, he's put on a more recent version of Windows and Word, he's replaced my over heating hard drive and he's fixed the noisy fan... I know I should be grateful, but I'm such a grump, I can't do things I used to do in seconds, I can't find things and I hate change!!!

So this is my first post on the new system, here goes with uploading a photo...

assistance was needed, Microsoft Picture Manager had to be set up again, but hey, we got there!  So my card uses a Karen's Doodles image, won last year, Ooh La La papers from the Shawn Jenkins CD and a LOTV sentiment.

Challenges;
Sketch Saturday - Challenge 397 - Use an old sketch - I chose 228, but flipped the sentiment/pearls

Passion for Promarkers - Favourites - Cats/Ooh La La CD's/Layers/Pearls
Fab n Funky - All creatures great and small
I Love Promarkers - Anything Goes
The Paper Shelter - Fancy - Lots of details - fancy paper/pearls/layers - maybe not fancy enough tho?
CRAFT - Picture Inspiration
Animal Friends - Cats

Thanks The Paper Shelter for my great prize, Jx

Plain Jane

I've got a new toy - two actually all because of Sarah  (not Debs this time!!!)

It's a stepper card die used to make the card below only the die was too big for my big shot so I needed to buy the bigger plates - but plates are boring so I got the new teal coloured Grand Calibur instead and I love it!

So, back to the card - kept it simple with a few dies and paper piecing. The stamp is a beautiful All Dressed Up one which I love, well actually I love most of their stamps!  And the papers, LOVT Country Meadow.

As for what's new, well Colin is now back working at Mackie's Ice-Cream and Alan is loving working with the oil company Nexen - both just Summer jobs.  And as for me, well the phlebotomy went well last week, real blood has now been drawn and my training is ongoing.

Challenges;
All Dressed Up - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Oh so Pretty
Passion for Promarkers - No squares allowed
Top Tip Tuesday - Cut it out
Crafting When We Can - Paper Piecing
Glitter n Sparkle - Include a die cut
Crafty Calender - Fancy Folds

Stamping Sensations - Dies & Punches Jx

Tiffany

Afternoon everyone, hope your weekend is going well. Mine has been nice and lazy, just the way it should be, and the biggest bit of excitment was Merlot the cat getting outside for the first time - that was so much fun for him - bit cold for us though!  So far his outdoor adventures have been short and accompanied, but before long he'll be off on solo adventures...yikes!

So, todays card uses a lovely Tiffany digi from Milk Coffee Stamps - I don't have many of their images, but those I do I love.

Again, not the best of photo's, but that's cause it's not taken in natural light - I'll get a better shot tomorrow in day light. (Picture changed for a daylight shot!)   Papers this time are MME and Basic Grey and the pearls and green sparkly are all Hobby House thanks to a candy win from Pami - would never have bought such crazy items myself, but am so pleased I have them now as they look brilliant.

Challenges;
Passion For Promarkers - Geeks - Anything with glasses, eye wear.
Papertake - Anything Goes
SSW 231 - I so love this challenge - one I try not to miss!

Basic Grey - Sparkle & Glamour - Brown Flower - Granola
Hobby House - Pearls
Stampin for the Weekend - Autumn/Fall Colours

Happy Camping

Hands up if you were a Girl Guide then?  I was, and I loved it - especially Summer camp and a week under canvas and cooking on an open fire.  My next-door neighbour's grand-daughter also loves camp and was away recently with her local Guide Group. That's why I chose this super image from Saturated Canary for her card this year.  Papers this time are Basic Grey, grass by Die-namics & the flower - haven't a clue!

Challenges;
Come & Get It - Sketch
Papertake - Hot Hot Hot - Well that's the campfire!
LCI - Ribbon & Flowers
Crafty Sentiments - Fun In The Sun - Camping has to be in the sun to be the most fun!

Happy 18th Birthday

When I saw this Woodware stamp, I knew it would be a good one to have.  Boy's 18th birthday cards can be a bit troublesome, so I thought this stamp might make life a bit easier.

Simple card today, with the 18th paper pieced using Doodlebug paper.  The card is then finished off with candy and that's it!

Hope you all have a good weekend, it's turned chilly again here so there won't be any gardening.  I should go for a run, but it's just started to rain & my motivation is somewhat lacking... we'll see!

Challenges;
Totally Papercrafts - CAS
Cute Card Thursday - Something Blue
Little Miss Muffet - Pieced Off - Paper piecing
Lexi's Creations - Happy Birthday
There She Goes - Paper Piecing
Here Come The Boys - Paper Piecing

Top 5 2011

Well, I did my top 5 Christmas selection, so it only seems fair to pull my favourites from the rest of the year too.

So, again in no particular order, they are...

Me & My Cat - using the Lili Of The Valley stamp back in April.

Then, Goth Girl, also from April made using a Sugar Nellie stamp.

In May, this card, using the Penny Black stamp, Tongue Tied, won the Papertake challenge for me,

Moving on through the year, & October saw me making this card using a Saturated Canary digi stamp,

And finally, rounding off my 2011 selection is my new love, Bugaboo Stamps and the lovely Gus!

As well as picking my favourite cards, I've also tried to pick my favourite stamp companies of the year, so I've only allowed 1 of each make - so I can get 5 companies in too!

Top 5 Christmas Cards 2011

Debby is running a super little challenge and is asking us to select our 5 favourite Christmas card makes for 2011.

So here goes with mine - in no particular order;

Firstly one of my many WoW cards this year. Last year I hated them, but by this Christmas they were now a favourite!

And another WoW

Then for my first gate fold card and a lovely nativity

Then on to more recent cards with this great PB cat, (I do so love my cats!);

And finally, I just loved the layers on this one;
