The turkeys fence-sitting. It was so funny when the three jumped down on the other side of the fence and the fourth didn't know where they were!
I found the purple RD book at a thrift store and it looks wonderful in the purple half-bath!

I don't wanna make a Rednesday post! I just wanna play in the garden!

Hi everyone! I confess - it's true. The computer was the last thing on my mind today. With all the unseasonable weather we've been having this week, I truly want to just stay outdoors! But, alas, I can't. Someone's got to do the housework, and drive the kids to school (and watch t.v., lol!). But, I do have some nice indoor things to show you this week.
I have some pics of my bedroom closet, believe it or not. Not the whole closet, mind you, cuz it's a mess! We have a modest Cape Cod style "cottage" - 3 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths. But the interesting thing about the master bedroom is that it has this huge walk-in closet; and, I mean HUGE! Without taking the time to go upstairs and measure it, I'm guessing it's 8 ft. by 12 ft. - big enough to be a small bedroom.
Anyway, the wall that has my dresser against it is what I'm going to show you. Mister picked up this beautiful cabinet at a yard sale last year. I couldn't decide where to put it until a few months ago - I settled for above my dresser. I love it here! The doors are so pretty!

Open it up and there you will see my bird figurine collection. I just love the colors of the stained glass and birds in here. Especially since there are no windows.
Oh, surprise! There's Steve Irwin courting the lovely lady in yellow to the right. Haven't seen him in a long time!

Welcome to another Autumn Rednesday! Did you see on my right sidebar that I won ImagiMeri's giveaway? I'm so thrilled! She will make a statue based on a picture that I chose. Her work is awesome! Go check her out!
I did a bit of yard sale-ing and thrift shopping this past weekend. At my fave thrift shop I found these three vintage ornament boxes - and this was on Monday! Don't know why nobody scooped them up over the weekend, but they're mine now! Although I did have to do a bit of taping and glueing.
![](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/https/blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuo7X8t7RHwR6kw65PztkhruhbifXb23iXHO0vdYxXcasDF1U1dcTtt0m8ihHFQE6fWRUzS4ol0lib1qU37jnVN_kFgDjUVXkzPlOAFJ-BGAl1qxTbjRtbodZmbzqvWVGSVOfdPFtmqQHB/s400/IMG_8174.jpg)
These are the other reds I picked up ~ a length of Pokemon "Pikachu" flannel fabric for Katherine, two little elves, a 1969 Snoopy mouth harp (which will go on my Etsy), and a Meakin red transferware mug (this makes #3, so I now have yet another official collection!).
![](http://library.vu.edu.pk/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/000100A/https/blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSxbNKIwIi9Z1C_i4znxMNwfRli_W6LGTazzFsssCABY83T93AdHTDF1pFMOG6svERwOLcpAQqbQduXJK0cuzvliwJIt1DSvp6D9jzqvWUXDh-CEbF6_zru_xdP78iJtUsz1xKajQ3htz1/s400/IMG_8220.jpg)
Now, personally, I don't celebrate Halloween, but I do love all the vintage graphics! I found this through Google a while ago (forget where) and thought of all you Halloween decorators and just knew you'd like to have it for a label! (yeah, I know it's more orange than red!)

Last, I have a silly little photo of pretty birds eating out of a wheelbarrow! This is a live feed camera in Australia called Backyard Galah Cam. They have the prettiest birds Down Under! It's about 2:00 a.m. there as I'm typing this at noon EST. I took this photo earlier this week.

Hi everyone, welcome to Rednesday! February (school) vacation week - yahoo! I can sleep late all week, except for today - Jade is here to play with my niece down the street. She wanted to make a craft this morning and came up with this fantastic idea. She took a 3-oz. paper bathroom cup, cut it in half and colored the outside brown with a permanent marker. Then she decorated four "puff balls", as she calls them, with googly eyes and yellow paper beaks. Voila - baby birds in a nest! How cute is that? (Notice I put a red border around the pic to qualify using it today!)

I'm preparing this post on Tuesday and we're in for a blizzard tomorrow - 1 to 1-1/2 feet (30 - 45 cm) of snow! I'm all settled in - got my cocoa and mini marshmallows, Teen and I are making brownies tonight, and loads of craft materials at my beckon and call. It's gonna be a great day! (so long as we don't lose our power!)
I had a wonderful phone chat with Melody of Brown Gingham Creations this afternoon. She called to see if everything was okay because she didn't see my Rednesday post up yet - she thought today was Wednesday! :) So, of course, we talked about everything under the sun!
I'm loving the birds at my feeders - this male cardinal, the blue jays, juncos ("snow bird"), titmice, chickadees, etc.

I just noticed the other day that I have over 400 followers, and this is my 444 post! What a milestone! So, of course, following blog tradition, I'm going to have a giveaway - a very, cherry giveaway!
The winner gets a cherry paper fan, cherry recipe cards, cherry sticky notes, clear stamps of fruit (one's cherries), a plastic 7" (17 cm) cherry jar, and a yard (91 cm) of ribbon that I picked up today that has happy hearts on it ~ just in time for your Valentine crafts!

A BIRD IN THE HAND . . .
So yesterday afternoon I happened to look out the window and see one of the cats playing with something. I waited to see if it was a mouse or a chipmunk but then I saw feathers.
I ran out to chase the cat away and saw a Goldfinch sitting on the ground terrified. I picked it up expecting it to fly away but it didn't - thought it must have been injured or in shock. So I went over to the garden bench and sat down with the bird in my hand - sat there for about 15 minutes until it recovered and flew away. Thank goodness it was warm out!
As the old saying goes, "a bird in the hand . . ." !

There is a red-shouldered hawk sitting in a tree outside my window right now. It's been there for about 45 minutes - a very patient bird! I walked out and took some photos, but I've just got a "regular" digital camera, so with snow on the ground and a grey sky it didn't snap well.

REDnesday #3
Happy middle of the week! Snowing again in my neck of the woods. There have been about a dozen Juncos hanging out in the hydrangea tree today, beside the bird feeder. A pair of Cardinals visited also, so I snapped a photo of them. The male is in the lower left, the female is circled in the upper middle.
