THRIFT SHOPPING

I've been out and about recently and here's a few things I brought home with me.

I was so happy to find another little English Cottage item. This is a small canister that's only 3-1/2"/9cm tall. It's about the size of a coffee cup so I don't know if it's from a child's set or not.

I was surprised to find these hadn't been sold before Christmas. And I was very happy to find them at 25% off!

I've been (inactively) looking for a toy iron for years and stumbled on one last week. My toy ironing board finally has a mate!

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

I love my vintage Christmas decorations! Here are some of them displayed.

I moved my pretty white sideboard into the living room and brought the console table into the kitchen. I am so loving having the extra window "open". I only have four large windows and a french door in the kitchen so I have LOTS of light! So this table gets my egg nog set and extra egg nog mugs.

I like to line my kitchen window ledges (in the middle where the locks are) with my vintage tiny houses!

I love pulling out my vintage Christmas records each year! My favorite is the 78rpm of White Christmas.

The hutch is all lined up with a variety of figurines:

A LITTLE THRIFT SHOPPING

My goodness, where has the time gone? I haven't posted in three weeks! I do have a good excuse, though . . . I think.

About mid-October all-of-a-sudden I had an urge to start making Christmas crafts! Boy, I don't know what got into me, but I couldn't stop. I haven't even been outside to clean up the yard before winter sets in! Then, all-of-a-sudden again, I decided to clean up and re-organize all my craft supples. So I've been doing that off-and-on for the past three days.

But Mister had yesterday off from work so we slipped out to the thrift shop. I'm so glad we did - got some great stuff: a nice Christmas table runner that looks vintage but is not, a Valentine and a Christmas hankie, a nice green planter that says "Brush, USA" on the bottom, a glass bell jar, a cool vintage sugar dispenser (which I'll use for a pencil holder as the red lid is cracked), styrofoam tree, 'brass' bells, an angel figurine, and an old bottle with a 'Mavis' logo.

Here is a close-up of the sugar. It has a great pattern on it.

Also, a close-up of the angel. The colors are so pretty!

Last, a close-up of the Mavis label. I have a very dear friend from Canada named Mavis, so I'll send this to her. (I hope she doesn't read my blog!)

THRIFT SHOPPING

Mister had yesterday off from work, so we went over to one of our local thrift shops! I got some great vintage items - all with red, of course!

I couldn't believe these Red Riding Hood S&P's were there! Of course I had no intention of getting my hopes up that they're genuine. When I got home I looked up on line and discovered that because of their height and the size of the filling holes they are the reproductions. Who cares! They're adorable - real or repro! Might sell them, haven't decided yet; but, if anyone's interested, email me.

This figurine is so animated! I just want to hug it! It's in excellent condition. Look at the original price! Wish I could buy figurines for that price today, but I was lucky and got this for $6.00.

Couldn't resist this chic overnight bag. Has a few "dents" but, hey, I'm a dent-kinda-gal!

Last is this awesome Wilendur square tablecloth with four napkins. Needs a good cleaning and, again, not sure if I will keep or sell.

I think I hit the jackpot yesterday! Good stuff cheap!

A BLUE REDNESDAY!

I'm getting ready for Valentine's Day in a blue fashion this year - on one shelf, anyways! And there's just enough bits of red to qualify for Rednesday, too! This is the shelf above my craft table.

Some vintage Avon Here's My Heart containers, two Lefton girls, and a few other pretties!

A FEW FUN ITEMS FROM MY AUNT + REDNESDAY

My sister and I went over to my deceased aunt's house to see if there was anything we would like. On the larger scale I will be getting my maternal grandmother's curved-front china cabinet, and what was my aunt's father-in-law's round dining room table - with claw and ball feet!

On the smaller side I took some wood thread spools, ribbon rolls, and a few other small items from her craft room. Unfortunately, we didn't have the same craft styles; she sewed and quilted. In the upstairs there was a box of figurines that I got excited about and took almost all of them. My nephew (her grandson) who lived there with her said there's another box in the attic. I hope I can get those, too!

A few Rednesday items to start with: an S&P set in the shape of cardinals. Two girl figurines, the one on the left is a Lefton.

This is an older candy tin in a pretty winter scene. You can see that the top was cut out to use for a bank.

Now for the non-reds! Love these little birds! They are S&P shakers, too. But, check this out - see these odd things in the bottoms? They are noise makers! You know those small round cans that, when you turn them upside down, they moo? These are like that . . . except these don't work. What a novel idea!

I was so excited to see this Shiny Brite box but, unfortunately, it's empty. It is in excellent condition, though.

Last, I'll show you these adorable mouse figurines. Love the chains! My grandma had a chained set of deer way back when. Their expressions are priceless!

REDNESDAY

Welcome to Rednesday! And - welcome to Spring! Finally! (even though we, and others, still have snow on the ground!)

You never know what's going to happen from week to week, or even day to day. Yesterday, after we'd been home from school for a while, I found this on the kitchen counter:

Becky had a microwave accident - with her pretty red polka-dotted B mug! I love the note!

Here is my knick-knack shelf with a few St. P and Easter items on it.

Have a good week!

REDNESDAY

Well folks, we have St. Patrick's Day and Easter both in March, so I decided to combine the Rednesday pic to include them both!

I'll be frank with you guys this week - life sucks! Or a good part of it anyways - financial problems, Asperger kids problems, insurance problems, car problems, sometimes health problems - you know the drill. But, I'm not ready to bow out of the human race just yet. God will take care of me, "His eye is on the sparrow"!

That's why I look forward to the blog world. Bloggers inspire me so much! Whether it's in faith, emotions, crafts, home decorating, or just plain old humor. You guys are the best!!

Now, in keeping with that last word, humor, look what I found at the thrift store this week. The most adorable trio of Lefton angels! They are beat up but, boy, do they have personality!

The store had them priced at $8 each, which shocked me for the condition they're in. But when I questioned the dear Sister clerk about it, she lowered the price to $4 for all three - I'm glad I spoke up!

This first one is my favorite. What an expression of mischief! And with that slingshot behind her back - priceless! (Now, she reminds me of Angela from Free Spirit Haven. I wonder if she takes a slingshot to WalMart? LOL!)

Don't wake the dolly!

This one looks serious. I think she might be the "big sister", trying to keep the other two in line! Good luck to her!
