I've done a lot of French music bashing on the site in the past, so I figured I'd make up for it by adding this killer thrash split ep. Both of these bands played blistering fast punk that we called thrash back in the day(before the word became over used and corny as hell). I really don't know jack about the bands, other than they started in the early 80's, and both put out a slew of records, and tapes.
What I can tell you is that I was turned onto this one by an old friend/band mate from the Romper Room Rejects. Michael R. was a French immigrant who was living in S.F. illegally in the mid 80's. /he was a house painter, and a punk rock bassist who turned me onto some cool European punk music in 1987-88. I've been wondering what happened to my friend for well over 20 years now.

The french definitely were never really known for good metal nor punk,Its a sad fact. The french unfortunately are known as pussies, and everyone knows it. Every once in a while, a very rare once in a while they could surprise you with something that you might dig though. Warning and Trust were two of those early French metal bands that I can stomach, and it prolly has more to do with nostalgia then anything else. I discovered these frogs as a teenage high school burnout who liked the killer "bird" artwork...ha ha. I think I was looking for obscure International type metal, and maybe discovered these guys and Accept at around the same time. Strangely enough these guys sound a lot like early Accept, cept this guy can really carry a scream. The Vox always sounded harsh to me with a lot of these bands that sang in their native tongue, making the stuff a bit harsher then it actually was. Warning were melodic and a mid paced sounding traditional heavy metal band that still gets me singing along to the chorus's, while laughing at the singers killer accent. I love hearing the singer scream "COMMANDO", or "FIRE, FIRE"!!! It still gets me laughing 25 years later. Speed or thrash metal elitists will hate this record as it has elements closer to hardrock. Fire Fire actually has a skip in it. My apologies. I left off Speed-moi as I had some issues with the rip.

FLITOX no1 7" (1986)
1.No.1
2.Olga
3.charivari
4.tout pou plaire
Flitox were an average French punk band. France has never really been all to known for having the best music come out of the country. This is the bands debut record. They put out a LP that was good as well. Mid paced, Catchy L.A. sounding punk, with lots of melodic guitar leads is how I'd describe the bands sound. I don't think I'd ever had discovered this record if it weren't for my band mate/friend Michael Roy. Michael was a French punk who was living in the states illegally in 1986-88, working construction/painting houses. My buddy Zoran met him at a show, and brought him back to my apt in S.F. to try out as bassist in our band the Romper Room Rejects. When I told Michael that I'd never heard any good French punk, he somehow came up with this record for me, bringing it over to my pad for me to listen to. After I acknowledged that there might be a few ok French punk bands, my buddy told me I could keep the record. It is hard to believe that its been with me for 23 years now. I have no idea what happened to Mr. Roy, I haven't heard from or seen him in over 20 years. Cheers my friend!

MASSACRA-final holocaust LP (1990)
1.Apocalyptic Warriors
2.Researchers Of Tortures
3.Sentenced For Life
4.War Of Attrition
5.Nearer to Death
6.Final Holocaust
7.Eternal Hate
8.The Day of Massacra
9.Trained to Kill
10.Beyond The Prophecy
French dudes that blended German thrash style with early U.S. Florida death metal, and made a near perfect album. The guitars are simply unreal, and just straight up classic (trots galore). This is the bands debut LP, and they did 4 others after this, though Nothing else comes close of course (cept the demos). Unfortunately singer/guitarist Fred Duval died of cancer a decade ago.
My ex room mate Nick gave me this album, as he thought I'd really dig it. I'd never heard it or heard of the band before he landed this beaut on me. Thanks Nick.
