October Diva Dare - Day 12

Hi Verve fans!  It's Julee here, wrapping up the final day of our Tag You're It October Diva Dare.  This month's dare is tags (make a tag, use a tag on a card, be inspired by a tag, etc.)!  Here's how I answered the dare:

I just love tags and have a drawer in my studio where I'm always collecting different tags that inspire me, thinking I'll add them to a mixed-media project here or there.  So when I saw these Boys Rock tags on some sweet little fuzzy hoodies my boys just got, I knew they were destined for my craft room!

I decided it would be super fun to make a little tag shaped card and hang it from a goody bag.  I used a tag I had laying around as a template for my tag, then made a folded card base 1/8" bigger all around for the card.  The brushed silver cardstock is embossed with a robot from Birthday Bots and then I took the Boys Rock clothing tags, trimmed one end with pennant ends and adhered to my tag card with dimensionals.  The to/from is stamped using the new Holiday Treats set and I cut them out with pinking circles nestabilities and hand wrote my boys' names.  The little cards are finished off with some Metal Mix Sequins on the robot tummies.

Next I decorated some treat bags using all the gear stamps from Geared Up and then made a hanger for each using Laurie Willison's Decorative Card Hanger Die and then added a bit of pewter liquid pearls for a studded look to match.

Supply List
Stamps: Birthday Bots, Geared Up, Holiday Treats (Verve Stamps)
Paper: brushed silver, basic black (SU!), white lunch sack, clothing tags
Ink: black, pewter (Mix'd Media Inx)
Accessories:  Metal Mix Sequins (Verve), Decorative Card Hanger Die (Soapbox Creations), Pinking Circles Nestabilites (Spellbinders), liquid pearls (Ranger)

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Saturday, November 2nd.  Entries must be new (posted 10/11 or later), include at least one Verve product, include a tag, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 11/02/13.

Fanspiration Diva Dare - Day 2

Laurie here, and I'm popping in here to share how I answered this month's Diva Dare!   This month, we "dare" you to show us your new creations inspired by projects made by Verve fans!  You can pick any little Verve project to inspire you, as long as it is not by one of our design team members (or yourself!) {grin}. To get your wheels a turnin', the Divas will be posting their Fanspiration creations using our newly released products right here each weekday!

To say that I had a hard time choosing just one project to use as my inspiration was difficult is a huge understatement!  Wow!  You all are SO creative!!   I finally decided on Stephanie's  beautiful Miss You Like Crazy card!  I just adore the fun, bright colors...not to mention the fab layout (which happens to be a Mojo Monday sketch)!  :-)

Instead of a card, I turned my project into a little homemade notebook.  I have filled up my other notebook that I have been using for sketches and thought it was time to make another one.  I used the Brighter Days set (along with the cute little stitches form the Borderline set) combined with the following dies:  Pennant Trim, Curvy Bookplate, Scalloped Flowers, & Leafy Sprigs.  I chose the Good Things are Going to Happen sentiment...because honestly I thought it was perfect for a sketchbook!  LOL!

Well, hopefully you've enjoyed this first day of our Fanspiration Diva Dare! Read on to see how you can win some shiny new Verve! There are two ways to win...

  1. Win a $50 Verve gift certificate! Play along with our Fanspiration Diva Dare and link up your creation to the linky widget entry form. Winner will be chosen by random draw. To be eligible, your entry must:
    • Be a new creation - posted September 7 or later
    • Be inspired by a non-design team created Verve card or project
    • Include a link to the inspiration piece you used, as well as a brief explanation of what inspired you
    • Use at least one Verve product
    • Be added to the linky widget before 5pm Mountain on Sunday, September 23.
  2. Win a Verve set of your choosing! Leave a little shout-out for the Divas in the comments section as we post our answers to the Fanspiration dare each weekday through September 20. A random comment winner will be chosen from all the comments over the course of the Dare.

Holiday Diva Dare ~ Day 9

Welcome to the Holiday Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here and I'm so glad you've stopped in for a visit! A quick rundown of the deets and then we'll get to the good stuff...

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is A Handmade Christmas! The theme is pretty broad and can be interpreted in so many different ways...from a lovingly made card, to heartfelt gifts and homemade decorations!  With the Holidays right around the corner, this will be the perfect time to get a jump start on your card and gift making!

So, we DARE you to make a Handmade Christmas card or gift!

I answered the dare with this sweet, vintage envelope...suitable for gift cards, holiday cards or any kind of sweet treat:

A little peek of the inside:

I used Verve's Charming Oval die for my Santa's Helper sentiment on the front and the inside stamp is from the new Bright Spirits set. The finished envelope measures 4" X 5 1/2". I took a piece of Vintage Cream card stock, cut it down to 5 1/2" X 11" and then scored at the 4" mark, twice, starting at one end. The envelope lid ended up being 3".  I wanted it to be a bit smaller because I wanted to fancy it up with a Martha Stewart French Scroll punch. To do that, I measured exactly the middle of the edge of the flap and marked it with a pencil. I then aligned my corner punch and cut. I then laid the card stock diagonally on my cutting board and cut from that first punch towards the closest score line. Next, I aligned my border punch and punched away! There are lots of perimeter pearls, sewn and distressed edges.

Want to know how you can win some fabulous new VERVE GOODIES?

Holiday Diva Dare - Day 1

Welcome to the Holiday Diva Dare!  For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. So, we DARE you to make a Handmade Christmas card or gift!

This is how I answered the dare...  I created felt ornaments to be given as gifts!  Using just some felt, dies, a sewing machine, and some minimal embellishments, I was able to create these handmade ornaments in no time at all!

These little guys are just over 2 1/2" inches in diameter...perfect size to tuck away in a mini gift bag!

For the packaging, I started with some mini notebook printed paper bags.  I then stamped three different sentiments as well as the star image from the Bright Spirits set.  The label was created by using the Curved Bookplate die to cut around the stamped sentiments.

To make the little stars, I stamped them, colored them in with Copics, then used the Winter Fun Die Set to cut them out!
Not only were the ornaments quick and easy to make, but I kept the packaging simple as well!  Perfect for mass production!

January Diva Dare-Day 6

Good morning everyone!  It's Charmaine.  I hope you've been inspired by the beautiful creations thus far for the Diva Dare!  I know I have!  :)  Today it's my turn to share what I've created.  This month's theme was Baby Love

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love! The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone! Be sure to look for the details on how you can win some new Verve goodies at the end of this post!

I created something for my "babies" for Valentine's Day.  It's funny because I always call my kids "my babies" (when I'm not calling them "my little bugs", of course) and my girls will say "we're not babies, Mom" and I'll say "you'll ALWAYS be MY baby!" and they just smile and shrug their shoulders.  It's true, though.  No matter how old they are, they'll always be my babies!  So, in keeping with this month's theme, I created little Valentine treats for them.

I started off with the Baskets and Blooms die from Stampin' Up to create the little basket.  I filled it with matching filler and some candy and then decorated the outside.  The heart was die cut using the Jotted Heart Die from Verve along with the Love Notes set.

The butterfly was also created using the Jotted Heart Die!  I cut two hearts out of pink felt and sewed them together.  Then, I added pearls for the body of the butterfly and some wire for the antennae.  The girls haven't seen these yet because I want them to be a little surprise on Valentine morning!  :)

So......will you answer the dare? If so, here are some details:

1. Play along with us and link up your new Baby Love creation (posted January 14th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY ONE Diva Dare post before midnight MST on January 29th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would LOVE to see ‘em!

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we share our Baby Love creations. One lucky commenter will win the Verve stamp set of his or her choosing! Winners will be announced on Monday, January 31st right here on the Verve blog.
So go ahead and show us your Baby Love creations...we DARE you!

Hope you enjoyed my project!  I can't wait to see your creations!

Winter Project Parade ~ Day 13

Hi there!  It's me, Laurie...and I'm here to wrap up the "Triple Play" Winter Project Parade!  Haven't the projects the Divas have shared these past few weeks been wonderful?  If you find yourself in need of some creative gift ideas, then look no further!  You will find it all - from tags and gift holders to beautifully decorated ornaments!  To see all of the ideas shared, scroll down or click HERE.

For my project, I kept it pretty simple...as I plan on making several of these ensembles to give away this Christmas!

I started by adhering buttons to a scented candle using my hot glue gun.  I then created a small box to set my candle in.  The background is stamped with the small snowflake from Glad Tidings.  The wreath (also from Glad Tidings) was stamped and colored in with Copic markers.  I then used two of my Lg. Classic Circle Nestabilities dies to cut the wreath out.  To finish it off, I added some string and a scarlet button in the middle.  I then tied it all up with some Baja Breeze grosgrain ribbon!

Here is a close-up of the wreath.  I added a bit of Stardust Stickles to the leaves!  Mmmm, mmmm...I do love me some sparkle!  :-)

To compliment the gift, I created a matching 4" x 4" square card.  I used the tag image (from Glad Tidings)  along with the Sweet Scallop Tag die as the main focal point.  I used the same color/button theme as I did on the candle & holder.

If you haven't had a chance yet to play along with us...don't worry, there's still time!!  Here are some of the details...

August Release Project Parade - Day 13!

Hi there!  Laurie here and I'm excited to share with you my project for this month's Project Parade!  The theme is "Something Old, Something New", so I took this opportunity to use one of my all time favorite Verve sets - Harvest Blessings (which just happens to be the Set of the Month right now and is currently 40% off)!

I created a little box holder to hold some mixed nuts - a perfect Fall treat!  Because Autumn in my favorite season, I just love to celebrate it (which includes giving treats to my friends :-)!

After stamping and coloring the wreath (from the Harvest Blessings set), I used the new Happy Hello set to create the inside border and sentiment!  A few embellishments, some Stickles, and ribbon later...my project was finished!

I hope you enjoyed my project today!  I would LOVE to see your projects using your favorite "old" and "new" set (and you might just win some cool prizes as well)!  Here are the details...

1. Play along with us and link up your new SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creation (posted August 25th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY 1 PARADE POST before midnight on Wednesday, September 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

July Project Parade - Day 9

Hi Everyone! Sankari here - and what a wonderful theme we have this month in creating our projects: My Hero! This project could be about anyone you see as a hero, from someone in the service, a family member or a friend. It was a suprisingly difficult theme to do a project for because there are so many people around me who are my heroes - who inspire me to be a better person.

One person who is one of my biggest heroes is one of my bestest friends - she has gone through many challenges recently and has always faced them with such a positive spirt and a smile - always an inspiration. The past few weeks has been a rough one for her and her family and I wanted to create for her something special - and for her never to forget how strong she is and how brave she is as she journeys through this intense time. This quote that Julee has in the stamp set "Blue Skies" completely inspired me to create this project for her: "Courage doesn't always roar, Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"." What a beautiful quote - and to me this is really what makes someone a hero - that even when life deals you cards that are tough and you want to give up and run away - instead - you quietly face your fears and the present circumstances. Just to be like this requires bravery and courage - and that to me is heroic. And this is how my friend is - every single day - I totally admire and love her to the very core. So I wanted to create for her something special and something that she can look at to remember her strength. I created a little gift set - a card and little magnet diorama - that she can put on her fridge/bulletin board with the "Blue Skies" stamp set:
The magnet diorama was created using a see through favor box from Martha Stewart (the box measures 2-3/4"x 1-1/4"). I covered the box with some Flower Child papers from Bo Bunny and created a little scene for the gorgeous butterfly in this stamp set which I popped up on dimensionals so that it seems like it is fluttering in the summery fields. I stamped and cut out the word "Courage" twice and adhered it to the sides of the box and finished it with a little chipboard, bling and ribbon.
The last step was adding a some strips of magnets to the back.

I created the card using this weeks beautiful Mojo 148 sketch designed by the beautiful Julee :) I simply adore adore adore the notebook stamp in this set, and created a little scalloped border and little chipboard on the bottom. I stamped the smaller butterfly and popped it up on the upper corner and finally added some liquid pearls (of course :)

I can't wait to give this to her - her heart is simply golden and she is simply my hero! I loved making this project for her - because I feel so grateful to have such a best friend who constantly inspires me. Like every stamp set, Julee always creates such gorgeousness and makes it so super easy to create the perfect card for that someone special :)

Verve Project Parade - Day Four

It's Charmaine with Day 4 of Verve's July Project Parade. . .My Hero!  Haven't the projects so far been awesome?!  I've just LOVED them!

I took a different direction with my project, and that direction came from a picture that I took.

This past weekend we had a joint birthday party for Isabelle and her cousin (my nephew) Ethan.  They were born hours apart, which was pretty funny because my sister wasn't due until the END of July!  :)  Anyway, I was taking a bunch of pictures of the birthday duo and this picture just made me smile.  With the look on Ethan's face and the way Isabelle's head is turned looking at him, all I could imagine her saying was "My Hero!"  LOL  So, that's where the inspiration came from for my project.

And as with all of our project parades, there are prizes!!!!

1. Play along with us and link up your new My Hero creation (posted July 12th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY ONE parade post before midnight on July 30th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but we LOVE to see ‘em!

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our My Hero creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (July 12 ~ July 28) will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

We can't wait to see your creations!

Project Parade - Day 12

Good morning!  Laurie here, and I am bringing you Day 12 of the Project Parade!  When I first heard the theme was "Fun with Flowers", I had an idea of making a Wildflower Seed packet holder.  Well, when I checked to see what the Divas have been creating (I'm out of town and feel a little out of the "loop"), not only was I blown away with their creativity but saw that fellow Diva Amy was thinking along the same lines!  WOOHOOO!!  I have long been wanting to be on the same creative "wave-length" as her, so this was a wonderful surprise for me!!

I used the Feel the Sun paired with some K & Co. patterned paper to decorate the front of my seed packet holder.  The wildflower quote that Julee included in the set, couldn't be more perfect for my project!!  :-)

After coloring the flower (hands down my favorite flower Julee has designed!!) with Copics, I layered it to give some added depth.  After adding a tad bit of Stickles to the center, I adhered a button with twine to the center!
The inside is where I have the seed packet.  I created a little "pocket" out of Kraft cardstock and punched a decorative border to pretty it up a bit.  :-)  To cover up the staples I used on the sides of the pocket, I added some coordinating patterned paper.

Well, that's all from me this time, but make sure to read on below to find out how you can WIN some wonderful Verve goodies!!  Hugs, Laurie

As with all of our Project Parades, we've got prizes! There are two ways to win:

1. Link up your new Fun With Flowers creation (posted March 22nd or later) to the Mr. Linky widget on Jen's post before Midnight on April 8th. One lucky stamper will win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. Be sure to leave the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our creations using this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (March 22 ~ April 7) will win his/her choice of any Verve stamp set!

March Project Parade - Day 11

Hi Verve Fans! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! I have been drooling over the yumminess that the Divas have been creating with this month's theme of "Fun With Flowers" for the Verve Project Parade that the Divas have been creating - they are simply gorgeous! This is such a fun theme because Julee really designs the coolest most unique flower imgaes that are elegant and beautiful!

I especially love the flowers in the "Feel the Sun" stamp set and I used that set to create today's project. I made this little gift set to give to one of my blogging friends who loves flowers and I wanted to share with her some of these flowers that are felt on wood that one of my friends gave me - so I thought I would create a little card for her to let her know how special she is and also create a little container to house these wooden flower accents.
Here is a close up of the card that I made: I stamped two of the big flower images and copic-fied them and then colored three of the smaller flowers and cut them out, curled them and popped them up with some dimensionls. I love this sentiment!

Here is a close up of the container both closed and opened: I created the same popped up flower accent and decorated with some liquid pearls and some ribbon).

And here is the container opened:

Project Details:
Stamps: "Feel the Sun" stamp set from Verve
Paper: Prism cardstock and handmade black paper
Ink: Tuxedo Black from Memento
Accessories: Pearls from Kaiser, liquid pearls (Adirondack "Lettuce"), ribbon from stash, Spellbinders, MS lace punch, dimensionals, copics, corner chomper and container re-purposed for this project.

I loved making this because it was made for a special friend and I loved coloring in these beautiful flowers :)

As with all of our Project Parades, we've got prizes! There are two ways to win:

1. Link up your new creation (posted March 22 or later) to the Mr. Linky widget on THIS POST before Midnight on April 8th. One lucky stamper will win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. Be sure to leave the Divas a little shout out in the comments as we parade our creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (March 22 - April 7) will win his/her choice of any Verve stamp set!

Can't wait to see your lovely creations! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Big hugs :)))) Sankari :)

March Project Parade - Day 5

Hi!  It's Charmaine and it's my day to share the project I created for this month's Project Parade, Fun With Flowers!  When I was thinking about this month's theme and trying to come up with a project.  I was drawing a real blank.  I know, flowers shouldn't be so difficult, right?  Everything I thought of, though, didn't seem to be something I hadn't already done.  Well, I've recently become a "Silhouette Junkie" (LOL) and my electronic die cut machine gave me an idea!  I've had this adorable daffodil cut file that I've been dying to use and this seemed the perfect opportunity!

I decided to create a flower tray or basket.  I used the Easter Basket tutorial on SCS and just left off the handle.  I cut two of the daffodils using my Silhouette.  Then I stamped, embossed and cut out the flowers from Feel the Sun.  I stamped the flowers numerous times on Hibiscus Burst, Lemon Tart and Certainly Celery cardstock.  I embossed them all with white embossing powder and cut and layered each flower using dimensionals.

I cut some craft wire to use for the stems and attached them to the inside bottom of the box.  Then I added the green filler for grass.  I attached the flowers to the tops of the wire "stems" I made.  I made a little holder for the sentiment too.  I used the Happy Birthday Plain Jane for the sentiment on the box.
I thought this little flower tray would make a great little birthday gift in itself, but you could also slide a gift card into it if you needed something a little extra!

2. Be sure to leave the Diva's a little shout out in the comments as we parade our creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (March 22 - April 7) will win his/her choice of any Verve stamp set!

We hope you'll play along this month!  We LOVE to see your creations!

Home For the Holidays ~ Day 4

Hi there! It's Laurie, and I'm here to share my project for this month's Project Parade - Home For the Holidays!

I have a list of friends and relatives that I will be making gifts for, but have not made very much progress yet. When I saw the theme this month (which can include gifts, cards, or decor) I knew this would be a perfect opportunity to make some headway on that list! :-) Along with sets of handmade cards, calendars, & home baked goodies, I will be giving specialized hot drink mixes (such as cocoas and coffees). It gets COLD here in Montana, and a yummy hot drink is always a good gift! :-)

I have several containers that I have collected this past year, with the intention of re-purposing them for gifts...such as this tin. Originally it held binder clips, but now is a container for some gourmet coffee mix! Using my circle Nestabilites, I created a "topper" of sorts for my gift...to not only decorate my tin, but also hold the instructions for using the mix.

I chose to use this GORGEOUS wreath from the O Christmas Tree set to decorate the front of my card topper. I just loooove how Julee includes the little extras...like the poinsettia and bow that fit perfectly onto the wreath! She thinks of everything! :-)

Because my topper is a circle, I wanted my sentiment to match. To achieve this, I added a small amount of double sided adhesive directly to my acrylic block and then positioned the stamp in an arch (the adhesive keeps it in place).

For the inside, I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment (also from the O Christmas Tree set), a coffee cup (from Delightful & Delicious), and the instructions (I printed them out on my computer).

Want to see what's inside the tin? :-)

The recipe for the mix is called Spanish Mocha Mix. The ingredients are: 7 Tbsp of instant coffee granules, 4 Tbsp sugar, 1/4 cup of Chocolate flavored powdered non dairy creamer (I used Coffeemate's Swiss Mocha flavor), 3 Tbsp of nonfat dry milk powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
I added a few cinnamon sticks as well.

So, now it's your turn! We'd love for you to play along with us and show us your homemade goodies for the upcoming giving season! Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, why not show 'em a little love? ;)

And, as with all of our project parades, we've got prizes!
To enter, just link up your Home for the Holidays creation to the Mr. Linky widget on THIS post before midnight MST on Thursday, November 26. One lucky stamper will win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve Store. And for another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout out in the comments as they parade their fabulous creations inspired by this month's theme. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade (Nov 11 - 25) will win their choice of any Verve set.

Home For The Holidays: Day 2

Good morning to everyone, it's Teresa. Didn't Jen get us off to a wonderful start with the mini gift card box for under $2? I am bringing to you Day 2 and I have made a winter wonderland scene in this hanging picture frame. I bought this frame at Michael's for $7.99, it is really gorgeous and of great quality. I like to hang something Christmasy on my bathroom mirrors at the Holidays. I thought this would be perfect, that is if I don't give it away as a gift. How can you beat that, a handmade Christmas gift for under $10. I used the beautiful SEI designer paper called Winter Song. I paper pieced the Christmas tree using the Verve set Christmas In the Air. I used SU dazzling diamonds for the hill of snow. I heat embossed the sentiment Winter Wonderland and I cut out the snowflakes that are covered with Martha Stewart snow glitter.

I made a matching card, because I adore the black, red, and blue together. I added silver beads to the tree of the card. The sentiment says Christmas Blessings and it is from the Blessed Christmas set. I hope you can play along with us, it is always fun checking out all the fabulous creations. Have fun and as always enjoy!
