Wednesday 27th of July

A lovely summer day with auntie Ank & her dachshund Billie.

After lunch we went with the orange Mini Cooper to the countryside.

We made a beautiful walk in the Biesbosch and ended up on the waterfront at De Zuileshoeve, where you imagine yourself in France, chilling in the hammock under the trees.

We had lots of fun and adventures.

Ank brought the cutest presents for Liam-Novi (and for me a very funny hand-painted sign from Marrakech)

It was great to meet again!

in the countryside

wednesday wednesday wednesday wednesday wednesday

Wednesday 18th of May.

On this sunny morning we went with Liam to De Zuileshoeve, a rural and magical place outside town, recently created by our friends Hans & Lia Hilkmann.

Hidden among the greenery of De Biesbosch National Park, a unique tidal river delta. Land of willow forests, islands and creeks. A dynamic and adventurous natural and recreational area.

We had coffee, chocolate cake, some drinks and a bottle of milk on the terrace and we were lucky to meet the shepherd that came over with his flock so they could graze in the orchard. So there I stood with Liam-Novi on my arm in the middle of all the sheep and it almost felt like I was in the countryside somewhere in Morocco.

Restaurant and B&B de Zuileshoeve is located on the waterfront in an old barn that has been restored and transformed into a bed & breakfast with four rooms with a view. It's is all about peace, nature and hospitality and a perfect stopover during a walk or bike ride through the area. You can enjoy a drink or lunch on the terrace or in the restaurant.

If you're ever happen to be in the area of Dordrecht, it's a must and I can assure you it feels like instant vacation.

there's a new place outside town

Friday 11th of March.

This afternoon we went to the opening party at De Zuileshoeve, a new place outside town created by our old friends Hans & Lia Hilkmann.

Hidden among the greenery of De Biesbosch National Park, the Zuileshoeve is located on the water side.
A quiet place near an old orchard. A barn that has been restored and transformed into a bed & breakfast with four rooms with a view. It's is all about peace, nature and hospitality. It's a perfect stopover during a walk or bike ride through the area, to enjoy a drink or lunch on the terrace or in the restaurant.

And soon you can also book a room.

Kingsday 2021. An orange kinda day.

Second lockdown kingsday. Orange is popping up everywhere, however still no traditional 'Orange' parties, no free-markets, no festivals.

For the second time in history the Dutchies are celebrating kingsday mainly in and around the house.

We made an Orange mini cooper tour to the Biesbosch including a picknick in the grass.

Great sunny weather for a lazy afternoon and dinner in the backyard.

Sunday morning - 29th of July - Nationaal Park De Biesbosch, Dordrecht.

Delta of rivers, cultivated land, willow forests and polders.

The Biesbosch is the largest freshwater tidal area in Europe. It's a river delta, where the tide still has free play.

Urban jungle around the corner. Wonderful to live close to nature, it's less than 5 km from our house.
