Weekend home cook meal 周末爱心晚餐

My better half silently spares the kitchen for me during weekends.  He has been preparing meals for us on weekdays, he got to rest on weekends.

I am not a good cook, just try the best I can to prepare meal for my loved ones on weekends.
fried eggs is their all time favourite, they complained my fried egg was tasteless, that's my cooking : less salt, no MSG.
the leftover pumpkin from the pumpkin cake, now sauteed with lean pork, my people in the house do not like it at all :(
black fungus with lean pork, carrot and button mushroom, my kids only picked on the lean pork and button mushrooms..What's for next weekend ? yet to figure out.

Mashed potatoes, the simplest method

I am impatient to handle tedious and time consuming recipes.  My girls loves to eat mashed potatoes, the easiest, simplest and fastest way to prepare mashed potatoes that I discovered is to use the packet soup as base.

I have tried Vono brand Mushroom Cheese soup
and also Campbell's mushroom soup, both are well received by my girls
in a small pot, mix water (I never measure how much water, just agak-agak (own estimation), some milk powder dissolve in water, add in some butter.  The milk and butter are optional.
bring the water mixture to boil, with small fire, add in the mashed potatoes flakes bit by bit, I have tried Western Family and Hungry Jack Brands, both are good.
stir with eggs stirrer or spatula till the mashed potatoes flakes are well mixed in to the desired consistency, if it is too runny just add more potatoes flakes bit by bit, add a bit of water if otherwise.
It is easy to prepare, usually I will let my girls to handle the cooking under my supervision
they like it plain
relaxing with a bowl of mashed potatoes.  Ideal for weekend snacks.

Shrimps Tomatoes Fried Meehoon

Weekends or Public Holidays are the chance for me to try my humble cooking "skills".  We stayed at home most of the hours on Malaysia Day means meals at home.  My theory of cooking is simple and edible.  I will definitely shun away from recipes that requires many ingredients and time to prepare. I like to get the food on the table fast,  that's the reason why I could never acquire good cooking skills but I enjoy having good food @_@

Anyway, my 2 growing up daughters' eating portions sometimes more than the adult.  They alerted me when they are hungry, I told them that I am going to fry meehoon for lunch, my eldest suggested that it would be nice with tomato sauce, there came the idea of Shrimps Tomatoes Fried Meehoon.
Ingredients :
 Meehoon,
dried shrimps (udang kering),
1 tomato (sliced),
2 eggs (scrambled)
Maggi tomato sauce
garlic
2 cups of water
seasonings :salt, light soy sauce, black soy sauce

mix all together

my serving of Shrimps Tomatoes Fried Meehoon with bambangan as side dish.  My girls just have their servings without the side dish, they have yet to appreciate this local fruit because it is too sour for their liking.

One of my favourite

This one of my favourite dish which I cooked a couple of weeks ago. I did not post it because I do not know what the brown thing called. It is made from fish, bought by Cletus when he traveled to Sandakan.

Nutritious Porridge for kids

This is one of my porridge cooking ideas for my girls; that is by mixing two types of rice, add in lean pork and shredded carrots for more nutritions and to enhance its taste as well. It is best using rice cooker with its porridge cooking mode to cook the porridge as I find it easier, faster and no repetitive checks are necessary. A well cooked nutritious porridge is ready within 30 minutes. Want to know more facts about rice click here.

All ready to eat.

HOME COOKING - FRIED MEEHOON WITH SAUSAGES & MIXED VEGETABLE

Prices of goods have gone up quite a bit these days, as a result eating out cost us dearly. I noticed that the eateries either increase their pricing or reduce the food portions, so that they have got more to sell and we have less to eat that in turn we have to buy or spend more to fill up our hungry stomach, how sad??
Cooking at home would be one way of saving money and get more for everyone at home to share. Most of the time I will ask my girls what they would like to eat for their meals then I will start to explore what I have in my kitchen to come out with something of that sort as simple and as fast as possible. Here is my Home Cooked Fried Meehoon with Sausages and Mixed Vegetable; methods of cooking and ingredient can be found here. :Q
