The Meaning of 'Laus Deo'

You may or may not be a religious person, but there are some interesting facts within this post. Read on...

One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington, D.C. there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument.

With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, In God We Trust from our currency and all mentions of "God" or other religious meanings, this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information.

On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.,
are displayed two words: Laus Deo.

No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn't care less.

Once you know Laus Deo's history, you may want to share this.
Those words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia, capital of the United States of America, Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say 'Praise be to God!'

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States, it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo. 'Praise be to God!'

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant...a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message.

On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore ; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6 Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848
deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society.

Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy 'One Nation, Under God.'

I am awed by Washington 's prayer for America. Have you ever read it? Well, now is your opportunity...'Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.
Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.'

Laus Deo!

When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation's capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of 'Laus Deo', its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: 'Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain.Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.'( Psalm 127: 1)

Now that you have read this post, can you believe that there have been changes made to the Washington Monument that makes the phrase "Laus Deo" non-viewable to the public? The National Park Service, which is a branch of the federal government, has censored "GOD" from the key display of America's Christian heritage in Washington.
I find this to be outrageous.

Something To Ponder

The below three sentences were sent to me by my cousin. They certainly gave me something to ponder and think about for awhile.

1. To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. Do you agree with this sentence?
I found that sometimes when your actions are not accomplishing what you want, you need to do something you have not done before or change your actions. If you have a goal in mind, you also have to do something you never did to accomplish that goal.

2. When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.
What came to mind after reading this sentence were two other sayings I hold close. One is: when one door closes, another opens. I find this to be very true. The other one is: In the Journey of life, what may appear to be the end is actually a new beginning.
If you ever blamed 'God' for something that didn't go as you planned, think about this sentence and keep the faith. Have you ever felt punished?

3. Think about this sentence...The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.I have found this to be true. I have experienced many, many speed bumps of life and somehow, things always work out.
I always look for the lesson and keep positive, even in bad times. This truly enables me to deal with a negative situation, plus I realize someone is watching over me.

So....after reading these three sentences, what came to mind? Share your thoughts

My Bucket List

Back in December, I wrote a post about Making New Year Resolutions. Right before New Year's Eve I guess we all in one way or another reflect on the past year and decide what we what to change in the coming new year.

The year 2008 opened my eyes to many things, especially after being very ill. Overcoming illness made it feel like I had another chance. So...instead of saying...'one day'...or 'someday', I want 2009 to be 'the year' to do many things.

After watching the movie, The Bucket List, I decided I wanted 2009 to be more about me. I don't mean in a selfish way. That's not me at all. I only mean that I want to accomplish things on my to-do list, do things I have always wanted, but haven't or buy something I want, but always put off or do the home improvement job that I never seem to get around to do. Before I leave this earth there are things that need to be done.

Some things on My Bucket List:

1. Get the two tattoos I've always wanted. Ok, so I did get one and I love it!
2. Go on an airplane. Can you believe at 50 yrs young, I have never flown?!
3. Connect with my soul mate
4. Go on a vacation by plane
5. Swim with dolphins
6. Ride horseback along a beach with the one I love. This has been a dream of mine since childhood.
7. See something magnificent that takes my breath away
8. Be the best person I can be
9. Get involved with an organization that makes a difference
10. Become a member of Habitat for Humanity and help build a house for someone who is in need
11. Install my new kitchen floor. I have wanted a new kitchen floor for over 5 yrs.
12. Get my motorcycle permit and license
13. Buy my own Harley. I don't always want to be the passenger on the back.
14. Ride for a cause

I have to say, I am off to a good start and I feel great. I did get my first tattoo and just have to make the appointment to get my second one. I have connected with my soul mate and we booked our vacation to Mexico for March. So that takes care of #1,2,3 and 4. Hopefully while in Mexico, I can fulfill #'s 5,6, and 7.
#8 is in on going process and I feel while becoming more spiritual, my faith is stronger and I am a good person.
#'s 9 and 10 will hopefully be accomplished when the weather becomes warmer.
#11 will be completed this year
#12 will happen in April when I sign up for my Safety Riding Class
#13 realistically, might take me a bit longer as will #14 because I need to feel confidant on a motorcycle before I can ride for a distance.

I am sure I may add to my bucket list as time goes on, but it feels good to know I am finally doing the things I have always dreamed about, always thought...one day.

Do you have a Bucket List of your own?

I also think this helps with goal setting. Writing it down and just saying to myself...I CAN DO IT! Wanting it bad enough to accomplish what was always in the back of my mind.

Inspiration from The Duggar Family

My friend at work was talking with me about this show she had watched. She was so intrigued by this family that she made me want to learn more myself.

I am referring to The Duggar Family. This couple in their early forites have 18 children. 18! They have a reality show on TLC and can be viewed a few times each week. Check your local listings.

My boyfriend and I went to their website and we read every word this couple wrote. The inspiration...the strength...the love...the positive attitude...the faith...the encouragement...came soaring off the computer screen.

I don't believe for one second we happened upon this family by accident. You see...my boyfriend being a full time single Dad with two young children was feeling very overwhelmed and having doubts. Doubts about his parenting... about life...questioning his routines and disciplinary actions. Questioning how he can get his children to do their homework, chores and develop better hygiene habits without the constant struggle.

After reading the information on their website, he instantly felt better. He realized he was doing the right things, but just needed to reinforce certain house rules. Maybe his approach can be somewhat different. The support I was giving to him was confirmed by reading the Duggar's website and it made us both feel better. Somehow we even felt closer and we discussed other topics that we hadn't before. I believe my boyfriend is the best Dad and am very proud of him. I admire him so greatly for the things he does.

When through reading the Duggar's website, we knew we just had to watch their show. We watched one episode and absorbed the lessons learned.

Through their TV show, they share their rock-solid faith and their overriding belief that "children are a blessing from God." They also share the family routines and guidelines they've learned through biblical study and trial and error -- ideas that can help make your home a place of peace, love, and support.

By viewing their website and TV show, you can receive lessons on:
debt-free living,Organizing systems for a clutter-free home,
Homeschooling methods and schedules,Training tips for little ones
Relationship builders for older children,
Favorite Duggar family resources, homemade laundry soap recipe, plus other recipes that go a long way.

By no means do you need to be deeply religious to receive these life lessons or encouragement or feel the inspiration. You just need an open heart. I have never before seen a family like this one. They have such strong values, the love and the faith that make them unique and very successful. We all should be so lucky! Not too many people truly believe or live their beliefs...

Something that really struck me were their House Guidelines. I've posted them below to share because more people should live by these words.

The House Guidelines
* Always use soft words, even when you don’t feel well.
* Always display kind actions and joyful attitudes, even if you have been mistreated. Have the right response by quickly forgiving others in your heart even before they ask.
* Always be enthusiastic and look for opportunities to praise others' character.
* Always deflect praise and be grateful to God and others for the ways they have benefited your life.
* Always use manners and be respectful of others and their belongings.
* Always do what is right, even when others may not, or when no one is looking.
* Thank God for how He made you, for what He has given you and everything He allows you to go through. (Romans 8:28)
* Don’t mock or put others down. Develop compassion and pray for others.
* Never argue, complain, or blame. Quickly admit when you have done wrong and ask for forgiveness (even if you were only 10% at fault). Don't wait till you’re caught. * Be sure your sins will find you out. He who covers his sin will not prosper, but he that confesses and forsakes it shall find mercy.
* Have a tough accountability/prayer partner to daily share your heart with and to keep you in line (your parents, spouse). The power of sin is in secrecy.
* Be attentive and look for ways to serve others with sincere motives and no thought of self-gain. * Think pure thoughts (Philippians 4:8, Romans 13:14).
* Always give a good report of others. Don't gossip! Never tale-bear unless physical harm will come to someone. (Use Matthew 18.)
* Never raise a hand to hit.
* Never raise a foot to kick.
* Never raise an object to throw.
* Never raise a voice to yell.
* Never raise an eye to scowl.
* Use one toy/activity at a time. Share!
* Do your best to keep your surroundings neat, clean and organized.
* Never let the sun go down on your wrath. (Don’t go to bed angry or guilty)
* Amendment J.O.Y. -
Put Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.

If you need a dose of inspiration, encouragement, faith, love, support etc...please do check out their website and/or watch this show. You WILL be glad you did

A Must Read Inspirational Story

Every once in awhile I receive an email containing an inspirational story with a lesson within or a reminder about life. I am sure you must receive emails simular to the one I am about to share. Do you delete them or do you take the time to read them? Do you open your mind and heart to the message?

Why is it that we 'remember' while reading something or watching a movie that touches us that we should not take things for granted? To realize things are not really greener on the other side...To remember to love, be kind, live an honest life, treat others respectively and with a kind heart. We may remember for a short time, but then we forget...until the next time something crosses our path in which we remember again. I am sure we all do this. Why? Why can't we remember ALL the time...?

Unfortunately, for some, it takes a sad moment or an illness or losing a loved one to remember. I truly wish no one must go through a sad experience to remember how important life is...that life is a gift and we should not take it for granted or our loved ones.

In case you have forgotten...here's a

Story to live by...

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected
that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to
refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her
saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before
they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't
speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone
who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone
who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who died
too early on this earth.

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who
desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or
sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your
job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning
another - Remember that not one of us is without sin.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on
your face and think: you're alive and still
around.

Yellow Roses

The other day while in the food store, I noticed an older gentleman walking through the aisles with a bunch of yellow roses in his hand. It just brought a smile to my face.

I don't know why, but any time I see a man carrying flowers...I smile. Maybe it makes me think about why...is he just bringing flowers to make someone smile, to say I love you or express he's sorry...

Whatever the reason...I see a sensitive and caring man.

On this particular day that I saw this man with the yellow roses it brought a smile to my face for a different reason. First I thought...odd...yellow roses in November? Somehow I associate those flowers with spring and summer. BUT, Hours earlier I had read an email from a friend. Was this coincidence? a sign? a reminder?

Read the email below:

T-bone Steaks and Yellow Roses

I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying groceries. I wasn't hungry. The pain of losing my husband of 57 years was still too raw. And this grocery store held so many sweet memories.

He often came with me and almost every time he'd pretend to go off and look for something special. I knew what he was up to. I'd always spot him walking down the aisle with the three yellow roses in his hands.

He knew I loved yellow roses. With a heart filled with grief, I only wanted to buy my few items and leave, but even grocery shopping was different since he had passed on.

Shopping for one took time, a little more thought than it had for two.

Standing by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and remembered how he had loved his steak.

Suddenly a woman came beside me. She was blonde, slim and lovely in a soft green pantsuit. I watched as she picked up a large package of T-bones, dropped them in her basket.. hesitated, and then put them back. She turned to go and once again reached for the pack of steaks.

She saw me watching her and she smiled. 'My husband loves T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I don't know.'

I swallowed the emotion down my throat and met her pale blue eyes.

'My husband passed away eight days ago,' I told her. Glancing at the package in her hands, I fought to control the tremble in my voice. 'Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together.'

She shook her head and I saw the emotion in her eyes as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away.

I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the store to the dairy products. There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I should buy. A Quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice cream. If nothing else, I could always fix myself an ice cream cone.

I placed the ice cream in my cart and looked down the aisle toward the front. I saw first the green suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming towards me. In her arms she carried a package. On her face was the brightest smile! I had ever seen. I would swear a soft halo encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes holding mine.

As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears began misting in my eyes. 'These are for you,' she said and placed three beautiful long stemmed yellow roses in my arms. 'When you go through the line, they will know these are paid for.' She leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, then smiled again. I wanted to tell her what she'd done, what the roses meant, but still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded my vision

I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green tissue wrapping and found it almost unreal. How did she know? Suddenly the answer seemed so clear. I wasn't alone.

Oh, you haven't forgotten me, have you? I whispered, with tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his angel.

Every day be thankful for what you have and who you are.

Does Religion / Spirituality Influence Your Life?

A Circle of Women Poll Results:

80% yes
6.7% no
13.3% sometimes

The idea for this poll came about after posting on my blog: Mind, Body & Soul. I was surprised by the results in a good way. It seems people do keep the faith and that is encouraging.

In what areas does Religion or Spirituality impact your life?

We are all spiritual in differing ways and to differing degrees at various times and you may not realize how your religion or spirituality is ever present.

I also think some may question faith in times of trouble, when having health issues, when we experience the loss of a loved one and then again, in happy times we may feel wonderful how our faith played a role in the situation.

9 Things God Won't Ask On "That" Day

I came across this and thought it was something worth sharing. It does give you a few things to think about, doesn't it?

Considering the poll I have on this blog right now, it was the perfect time to post this. Maybe you don't realize that your religion or spirituality does play a role in your daily life.

The Last Day

1. God won't ask what kind of car you drove. He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

2. God won't ask the square footage of your house. He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home

3. God won't ask about the clothes you hold in your closet. He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4. God won't ask what your highest salary was. He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5. God wont' ask what your job title was. He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6. God won't ask how many friends you have. He'll ask to whom you were a friend.

7. God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived. He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

8. God won't ask about the color of your skin. He'll ask about the content of your character.

9. God won't ask why it took so long to seek Salvation. He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven and not to the gates of hell.

The Three Mysteries

I received the following message in an email from Mary Jo McCabe. She shares her intuitive gifts with thousands of people through group and individual sessions. Mary Jo reads symbols and messages that are passed to her through a group of souls that she refers to as The Guides.

I know this is a rather long post, but this message may speak to you...

THE THREE MYSTERIES

When man lives in darkness it is because he has shadowed himself by his past which brings back the memories of his yesteryear. By not letting go of it, he creates for himself struggles that he does not need to experience again.

It is of truth that in your world there are many locks to the door to your past emotions. The lock that keeps you most tied to your past is the emotions that you fear confronting. When you hold yourself back to the emotions of the past, you recreate them in your future. Even though you may not understand why you do this, it creates for you a sense of safety, for you believe that by holding on to these difficult memories it will keep them from happening once again.

All of you have experienced parts of your life that you would not want to re-experience, and yet each of you holds on to these difficult memories as though they are a tomb in your heart that you can never forget. But in truth you must confront the seeds, the events, from which they grew. And, that my dear one is the only part that must remain in your memory.

When you hold on to your past, you are blinding yourself to the gains of your future. It is difficult for you to understand this because your future is a mystery, but that is the purpose of life.
It is truth that in life there are many mysteries, but to us there are only three major mysteries in your Earth. The first one is silence. Silence comes from vision. From knowing a part of you that is old and wise, having no need to change you but just accept you. That is silence. When you begin to truly hear life you hear the silence of which that is. You can then hear the voice of each other because you are not distracted by the puzzlement of yourself.

Perhaps you do not understand the power of silence. You believe that in order to find silence in your world you have to live quietly in life, but that is not silence. Silence is a knowing of you without feeling the need to change you. When you are silent within you, you are at peace with yourself. You are in comfort of your own knowing and you are able to look at yourself completely without fault, without honor, without fear, but just as you are. When silence falls upon you it brings to you humility because you truly begin to see that in you there is a world beyond you. However, you cannot find the silence within you without removing the mask of knowing you.

The second mystery in life is abundance. How to conquer it, how to achieve it, how to explore it -
What is abundance? Abundance in knowing your own rightfulness - what is yours and what is not yours. You believe that in order to have something you must work toward it to acquire it.
In order to have, all you must do is ask for it with pure intentions in your heart. For if you believe you do not earn it, you will not have it and that is why you create such war zones in your life. If you believe you are not worthy of good health, you will not have it. If you believe you are not worthy of food, you will not have food. You must learn to feel abundant in order to be abundant.
You will have an abundant life if you create a positive flow in life. So, you must look at yourself and wonder: What is in you that has not been given freedom?

For instance, if you feel guilty for not exercising your mind, you will never seek to hold your concentration. If you feel guilty about not exercising your body, you will create for yourself bad health. If you create for yourself guilt in the food of which you eat, you will create for yourself abundance in fat. If you do not allow yourself to feel your sorrow, you will have more grief. Any part of your life that is denied will come through another vessel to show you who you are and what is missing in your heart. Abundance comes from the heart, dear one, not from the head. The need to create is simply abundant. It is for that reason that you seek to have in this life.
You must feel abundant in life; you must feel rich in heart. You must look at that part of you that is constantly scolded by you and then you will know what takes from you the abundance of you. It is that, dear ones, that you must see and understand.

The third mystery is the story. You create for yourself the story line of which you seek to follow. You must act responsible in order to develop the story that you want and need.

It is of truth that there are many story lines that you can follow to get to the point of death that you seek because death creates completion. It means on some level that you have acquired the knowledge, the experience, in living that will give to you the next billfold of your own journey - the value, the worth.

You must have the need to create the story for you. You are your own book. If you were to write a book about you, what would you say concerning you? What would you tell to others about you? Even if you wrote your own history and you buried it deep in the walls in life that no one else could see until the day in which you left the Earth, what would you say? Would you talk about your fears? Would you express your needs? Would you look upon your life as one that was accomplished? Or would you think of yourself as being denied? You have a responsibility to live your story. You came here with a story. It is your importance of self that must be found in that story. If you do not think well of you no one else will. If you do not love you no one else can. If you do not know you no one sees you. It is important that you begin to understand those truths.
You have a story, a story to tell, a story to live out, a story to pass on. Your impact in life will be shown to many beyond your life, by the roots that you provided, the anchor that you offered, for those who you loved and adored in your heart and through your heart. And, so it is of importance that all of you learn about your story.

What do you believe your purpose is on this Earth? You already know. Do not ask us. You know your purpose. It does not take you long to look at the falls that you have experienced. It does not take you long to find the greatest joys in your heart. It does not take you long to find the feet on your legs, but you must know the direction your feet are pointing. If your feet are pointed in the past, you will experience life over and over and over and never move forward.

If you want to know if that is the way in which you are standing, look at your life today, what is the message of it? Are you bored with the lessons in life that are given to you? What do you like about your life? What don't you like about your life? What do want to repair in life? These are necessary steps in order to understand the value of letting go of the past. Remember the past is important only if you can see the seed that was sown for you from it. What did it start you out in? What did it create for you? What is it offering you today? Only you can identify that.
So you see, dear ones, everyone has a part of them that is not yet pure in spirit. But you must know that in coming into the physical life there are many things that you must learn in order to find life. The first one is silence, the second is that of abundance, and the third is your story.

What is your story? What is the story line in which you are following?

Let us tell you a story. When man came to the Earth, he looked upon the different waters of the Earth. He saw the waters that had salt in them he saw the waters that were clear and you could not find the difference. And so he comes back into the spirit world and he asked that of his teachers, why are there 2 different types of water on the Earth? And the great teachers of time said, "So that one can remind you of the wounds in which you still hold and the other can remind you of the clarity, the sparkling of life when the wounds are no longer there."

And so it is your choice today. Do you want to live where things are not clear? The water is of purpose but you cannot drink it nor can you see the salt that is in it. But here you have water that flows gently that has a beautiful flow about it, its clarity its taste a wonder. You see water is the substance of man. It is what provides for him the cloak that he needs to wear. Without water, man cannot survive in his Earth. And without the need for water, man cannot find himself in life.

There are many things that man questions before coming into his world. The first thing he questions is justice. What is the purpose of it? No one in our world will give to him that answer, because he has to first find the answer within himself in order to endure the life path.

Do you know the purpose of your life? Why do you think you are here? Everyone is given a tree to decorate, but everyone chooses to decorate it his or her own way. The tree has no life to it when it is taken from its root. Then why do we decorate something that is dead? Because many souls on your Earth live dead, they are living in memory of the past. And yes, you can decorate it any way you want, but it is still dead there is no life in it.

So, why do you continually pursue that of the past when there is no life in it? You decorate the past by holding on to it, by clinging to it. You have to determine how you're going to decorate it. If you light it up it will let you see the gain of it. If you decorate it with heavy ornaments it will only pull you down. Light it up. See the sparkle of life that awakened you to you, the seed of which it gave to you. By lighting your past, you begin to light your future.

A Little Inspiration

God's Cake

Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this", or
"Why did God have to do this to me". Here is a wonderful
explanation!

A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going
wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her
and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her
daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says,
"Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."

"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.

"Yuck" says her daughter.

"How about a couple raw eggs?"

"Gross, Mom!"

"Would you like some flour then?

Or maybe baking soda?"

"Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad
all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right
way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He
would let us go through such bad and difficult times. For God
knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they
always work for good! We just have to trust Him and,
eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

Always remember, God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in
the universe, and He chose your heart.

Now I hope your day is a "piece of cake!" After all, Life may
not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might
as well dance.

The Interview With God.....

I realize everyone is of a different religion and their beliefs may differ, but this email I received contains some life lessons I thought worth sharing...

I dreamed I had an INTERVIEW WITH GOD.

"So you would like to interview me?" GOD asked.

"If you have the time," I said.

GOD Smiled.

"My time is eternity...what questions do you have in mind for me?"

"What surprises you most about humankind?"

GOD answered....

"That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again."

"That they lose their health to make money, and lose their money to restore their health."

"That thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that the live in neither the present, nor the future."

"That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they have never lived."

God's hand took mine and we were silent for a while.

And then I asked, "As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn?"

"To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves to be loved."

"To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others."

"To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness."

"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them."

"To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least."

"To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply do not yet know how to express or show their feelings."

"To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently."

"To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves."

"Thank you for your time," I said humbly. "Is there anything else you'd like your children to know?"

GOD smiled and said......

"Just know I am here."

"Always."

Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:
"I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.
Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?
Would there be abandoned children?

If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.
I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.
He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
"You know what? Barbers do not exist."
"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber.
"I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"
"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because
if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me."
"Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist!
That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Merry Christmas!

Today Christmas Eve day, I am finally done with all my baking. I think I gained a few pounds just from sampling the cookies I made, but I tell you...it was worth it! ha...You have to taste what you're baking, right!?!

I just posted on my other blog something you might find inspiring.
Teach The Children the Symbols of Christmas. In case some of us forget the 'true' meaning of Christmas.
Do you know what the Symbols of Christmas mean?

I hope all of you have a peaceful holiday, filled with Love, Happiness, Faith and Hope.

The Sky Angel Cowboy

Logan is a 13 year-old boy who lives on a ranch in a very small town in Nebraska. Logan listens to Christian Radio station 89.3FM KSBJ which broadcasts from Houston, TX. Logan called the radio station distraught because he had to take down a calf. His words have wisdom beyond his years.

Out of the mouths of babes we are reminded...out of the mouths of babes we are inspired.
Thank you Logan for sharing this with us and giving us a very special message.

I know what you had to do was extremely hard, but you did what had to be done.
Many Blessings to you and your family.

Be Your Own Life Coach

I recently posted about "Thinking Outside The Lines" and how choosing a different thinking process can change the outcome of situations and/or dilemmas you may find yourself in. I wanted to share with you how easy it can be for you to be your own life coach.

You are after all, responsible for your own happiness and fulfillment and there are ways you can be successful in bringing about peace and happiness to your life.

Pick a challenge you are currently facing. By asking yourself a few simple questions you will be surprised what your inner wisdom reveals to you.

By asking yourself:

Is this good for me? Instead of making a snap decision, think...don't ask friends, make the pros and cons list. Just simply ask yourself is this good for you...physically, mentally and spiritually. Will your decision be the same today, tomorrow, next week, next month. Will you still be happy with your decision down the road?

What would your role model do? Frequently thinking what your role model would do in your situation will give you time to think and tap into your wisdom of your role model and you for that matter.

What are my values? Do you regularly act on your values?

What am I not seeing? Are you like me and occasionally wear blinders? Sometimes we don't see something because we simply don't want to see it. Step out of the box and look at the situation like you're an outsider. Things may look differently to you. I know sometimes when I am directly in a situation, I do see things differently then when I suddenly find myself out of it.

What really matters? It's not really just about right or wrong. It's about knowing what's important. Do you find yourself with a to-do list of like 10 things and start to feel overwhelmed? Do you feel disappointed in yourself when you didn't finish doing all the things on your list? What's really important? If you do what's important to you and allow the others things to wait, you will be more relaxed and feel successful

Where Should You Act or When You Should Step Back? Do you sometimes feel confused over what is yours to do and what isn't? Have you acted too soon or made a decision or judgment without knowing all the information or stepped in where your input wasn't really necessary? When asking ourselves what our part is, when we should wait and let things work out for themselves, we'll get a clear picture of what our role is.

I am learning this last question rather well. I recently spoke and acted too soon about something and luckily I caught myself before it bit me in a negative way. Thankfully the person has a heart of gold and a beautiful soul and accepted my apology after I explained why I did what I did. We all are still learning in this life, aren't we?

What would Make me happy? Have you ever made a list of all the things that would make you happy? How many did you do? Think about being happy NOW...don't concentrate on something that you know you cannot obtain immediately. Getting to be happy everyday is a wonderful feeling. If you're facing a challenge, ask yourself...what would make me happy.

Who Could You Turn to if You truly Need Help from Someone? Knowing who you can trust and turn to if you really needed help in a situation will help you manage better.

Got Milk?

"Try to imagine your soul as a coconut and the rewards of life as the milk inside it. The more skilled you are at cracking the shell, the more milk you'll retain for greater nourishment. Your life provides you with the lessons you'll need to break open that husk~the more you live your life in a spiritual manner, the better you become at cracking open your own self and savoring life's rewards" ~ Mary Jo McCabe

Have you ever thought about finding your true self? We spend so much time trying to hide our shortcomings or imperfections, we fail to see our true self. We have a spiritual self and a physical self.. The spiritual self , your soul, is hidden from the naked eye. It knows what's best for you and knows how to help you receive from life what you really need. I believe we all can communicate with our soul or that inner voice. How many times have you caught yourself hearing that inner voice? How many times have we listened?

Your physical self is what others see and is open to the outside world, including your (negative)emotions. Mary Jo McCabe considers this to be the outer shell of a coconut, which protects the milk and nourishment in the center.

Have you ever felt off kilter? Balancing between the spiritual and physical can be a challenge. Life is about creating a balance. Getting in sync so you can experience the fullness of your life.

Is there an area in your life causing you distress? Do you overspend, over eat, over react, over work? Make it a point to change this one area of concern for just one week and notice the improvement that happens. If you can do it for one week, you can do it for one month and then for one year. It'll become a positive pattern leading to a positive change in your life. It's all about small successes and realizing you have the ability to change how you treat yourself inside and out.. you'll gain confidence along the way...

Life can be an uphill battle at times with struggles to overcome, but with dedication, persistence and hard work, you can obtain success in what you want in life. You will be rewarded with the milk of life....
