Sleeping with Books

Couldn't decide what's the title for this post. Since I am talking about the books just by my bed side, they are as good as sleeping with me, so I just give this post title as Sleeping with Books. I like to read. One could judge by the thick glasses I am wearing.  Books are the knowledge power house for all of us. whether we finish reading the whole book, part of the book or just few pages of it, we will be able to learn something out of it.

These are the books the I am sleeping with.  About half are cook books.  I have confessed before that I love to eat but not a good cook, thus need more cook books to inspire me to be more creative in my cooking.  Other than cook books, I also like to read motivational and business related books.  Will show you my family's collection of books next time.

I realised that the Information technology (IT) advancement is too fast that my knowledge on this area is far lacking behind, I should start reading publications on IT, if not I will be just like those old gadgets becoming "obsolete" soon.   

Interest in Reading

I read quite a bit during my first pregnancy, I have lesser time to do any reading during my 2nd pregnancy because during that time I have to take care of my 1st baby and also housework at the same time.  Probably because of the time that I spent reading during my 1st pregnancy, my eldest turns out to be more a book worm than her younger sister.

Bookstore is the most frequent place that we go to whenever we go to shopping mall.  Last weekend, we ended up a Times book store after our dinner.  I usually spend my time glancing through at the cookery section...my girls would sure pick one or two of the books that they like..my eyes turned big and round when I saw the books that my eldest chose to buy..I asked her whether she is sure that she wants to read these books..She said Yes, saying that she has been reading this collection of books and this is the last one to complete her collection.  I did not know because sometimes the daddy is the one who brings them to the book store while I am at work.

 Just look at the thickness of the books that my eldest bought.  I couldn't even finish reading an English literature book during my secondary school time.

 this is another one..just by looking at the cover will scare me of.  I just could not understand which side of the reading habit that my girl inherit from..could be from me...

my younger daughter chose this comic book with pretty cartoon characters, I used to read cartoon books like this but in Chinese during school days.

I kept hide their new books for 4 days until the exam is over.  They can only get to read their books yesterday. But I am still not happy that they did not choose any Chinese books despite being reminded times and times again.

Feng Shui & Me

Half a year has gone!!

It took me half a year to open this little booklet of Feng Shui for Monkey 2013 which I bought at the beginning of the year, thought I would learn and find out ways to enhance what's good and what are the remedies can be done to block the no good stuff on the Monkeys this year.  I believe the Feng Shui (things around us) does affect our daily lives to a certain degree but I have not put much afford in practicing Feng Shui in our home. 

I read a few pages of this booklet last night for my reading pleasure.  It would be a long way if one were to to practice Feng Shui by the book.  

Though it did not mention any big fortune for the monkey this year but I will continue to buy jackpot hopefully I will hit the million Ringgits jackpot soon. ^.^ 

Borrowing books from Library

School exams is over for Crystal & Pearl. They are allowed to start borrowing books from the library again. We returned the last batch of books very late that I have to pay for RM5++ fine for the books that I borrowed, luckily there is no late penalty charges for children's books.

altogether we borrowed up to 21 books this time, 5 of them are mine on the right (as usual I looked for health and food kind of books).

Among 16 of the children's books that my girls have picked only 1 in Chinese, others are in English. I always remind Crystal to read more Chinese and BM to further enhance these 2 languages. She happily told me that she had borrowed one this time. It was Pearl who picked it, wonder they actually read it or just want to please me....:D

these are the 5 books I got this time, so far I only read a few pages of the good carbs vs Bad carbs, hard to find time to read.

A trip to the state library

Our girls love to visit the book shops whenever there is one in the shopping complex, they usually pick a number of books from the shelves and sit themselves down on the floor in the book store, Crystal would start reading and Pearl usually flipping through the pages as she doesn't know how to read yet. They always treat the book store like library.

So the library is the best place for them to do so, they can read as many as they like and borrow some home as well. The state library allows its family card member holder to borrow up to 20 books at one time, it is sufficient for each of us to borrow some books home each time we visit the library.

Nice to see them reading booksI picked some books and sat down with them as well, my choices are mostly on baking, cooking and health.

Local Female Magazines

I love reading magazines. One of my favourite is Her World Magazine. I bought the November 2009 issue featuring Datuk Yasmin Yussuf on the front cover. It comes with free sample of Shiseido Zen Eau de Parfum 1ml and a packet of May White Radiance Shower Cream. The Shiseido perfum is pretty nice, I have got 2 pieces of the same, one of it came free from a copy of the Female magazine that I bought at the same time.

The copy of the 480 pages thick Female magazine was a big disappointment, most of the pages are advertisements nothing much of interesting write up. It is very much different from what it used to be.
