Teenagers Scare The Living Shit Out Of Me

Oh my. I have to write a blog post for Wednesday. Uh.....shit!

Well first off, today is Kidlet's birthday. The old bat is now 15 years old. (Just kidding, chile!) I am dropping off a card and chocolate covered cherries with her breakfast on Wednesday. We are going to do dinner at my parents Friday night for her birthday party and presents. I think she wants a giant pan chocolate chip cookie instead of a cake. The girl does things in her own weird little way. Wonder where that comes from ....

Prodigy on So You Think You Can Dance. Oh my. Russell, Legacy and Ellenore are leading my list of Me Likey this season.

Oh Lord, Idol commercials. How are they gonna top The Glambert?

Let's see. Saw Mozza last night. Mozza is no where near the douche you might imagine him to be. He is really pretty freakin cool. And the opening band kicked ASS. Like Major Freakin I Am Gonna Buy Them Ass.

They are called Doll & The Kicks. They are from England and they were worth the price of admission. Doll is frickin adorable and the girl can sing her fringe covered ass off. Doll & The Kicks

Full review of said Concert coming up next week over at Music Savvy Mom. This weekend is Blog Weekend. I have to do the Morrissey write up for MSM, start on my decade in review and come up with my end of the year favorites. Although I might cheat and do that one as the post for 2009. Yeah...oh yeah, I am gonna cheat.

I have no idea what's up with my appetite these days. I just don't have one. I eat because I have to. The only thing that sounds really good is soup. And apples. The Honey Crisps and Pink Ladies are out now and they are damn good. Get this...I did not finish my pecan pie on Turkey Day. I didn't have room. WTF is up with that?!

Tonight I had Pho. 5 bucks for a huge bowl. And Jasmine tea. It was awesome.

Oh fuck me running, the weather dweeb just started talking about "very cold weather" on our horizon. I swear to god if it snows like last year I am gonna burn the building down.

I am not amused by the upcoming Glee hiatus. Not. At. All.

This has gone hell random as far as posts go :P

With this semi coherent and truly pointless post I leave you all with the Hella Random playlist. First up on the list I am sending out a wink and nudge dedication to the Kidlet for her Birthday.

j00 don't scare me, Widget!

Just Give Me What I Want And No One Gets Hurt

Oy, another Turkey Day down, now I just have "The Yule Season" to get through. Eh.

Kidlet's birthday is Wednesday and we are trying to nail down a time for her dinner and presents at my parents. Monday night we see this charming man in concert.

Mozza! I am excited.

Let's see. Turkey Day redux. Food was awesome. Pecan Pie was awesome. It is the King of Pies. Um, the Family Tattoo was fun and their baby was adorable.

Black Friday I worked and then took the soon to be 15 year old to Victoria's and let her get her shop on. Which she did. I gotta admit, they do have some purdy bras. I went for the perfume. Got me a new one and I LOVE it. I wish I could have gotten the foo foo parfume version instead of the body spray but alas it was not in the budget. But it is soooo yummy.

Saturday was of course the day of the Cat. Harley has IBD and he has chronic or recurrent pancreatitis. Long day and expensive. He is now on weekly B12 shots, a special sick fucking expensive food and all sorts of other fun meds. Yippee!!

Update on Blogfest for all of those interested. Dates are shaping up as either July 11-21st or 17th-28th. Hotel info is available on the Facebook group site. Holler if you all have any touristy ideas.

Is it sick and wrong that I am looking forward to sitting quietly at my desk tomorrow? Uh yeah.

Why is there shit on TV tonight (Sunday, I cheat and write early) and there are no decent things on Demand I want to watch. Bah and pleh. And dinner should happen but I am feeling uninspired. Soup!

Oh Snap! The Rock Hall of Fame Concert is on HBO. Metallica as a backin band for Ozzy and Ray Davies.

And U2, Bruce Springsteen and Patty Smith doing Because The Night. Damn. Bruce and Bono doing Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For was amazing. And fuck me but Fergie brought it on Gimme Shelter with Mick Fucking Jagger. Amazing performances.

Aww, Jagger and Bono doing Stuck In A Moment is pretty damn win too.

HOLY SHIT. I had to edit this to add that Tom Morello is a fucking guitar God. His solo at the end of The Ghost of Tom Joad is un-freakin-believable.

Speaking of Mah Peeps, guess what I got in the mail this week? My U2 tickets!! Am I excited? Why yes I am. Summer is looking good for next year. It just needs to get here already :P

Same Freakin Moore and the Boss doing Hold On, I'm Comin kicked ass as well. Then again Sam and Dave kicked ass in general. I am so going to need to buy this DVD.

Harley Update

Not well. He was on Thorazine last night and threw up 5 more times. He's still at the regular vets on IV's while we see how he is doing. He sees a specialist on Saturday. Kidlet also not well. Something about your cat repeatedly trying to die will do that.

As for me I would like to be knocked out for, oh say, a month.

Happy Out Of The Hospital Day!

We are home! Kidlet has showered, dined on KFC and is settling down to watch Talladega Nights. Her she is in all her ET Fingered Glory. Thanks to everyone for all the texts and calls. It helped me a lot =)

All Dressed In Red, Always The Bride

Yay for the weekend! Weekends make me happy. Wanna know what pisses me off? I'll tell you. First of all, Vinny and Trav....turn your heads....BASEBALL! Fuck baseball! Fuck it in it's Glee/Fringe/Bones bumping ass! HATE IT.

Better now.

Poor Kidlet's migraine stifled her first Homecoming week. And she gave up her free Friday last week to decorate the place too. Tonight is the Homecoming Game and I think her Dad and his GF are coming to that as well. There is a tailgate starting at 545 and I think we are going to that as well. Friday Night Lights!

Tomorrow night is my daughter's first High School Dance. How cool is that? I think I am the designated Taxi service for the evening for the girls. I think I am also the designated dresser and doer of the hair. Kidlet is excited. No chaperon duties for Moi. Yay!

Halloween is shaping up nicely. I have the Kidlet, The BFF and The Semi Step, plus I think my friend Hope is going to come with us and bring her nephews and nieces. All Rocky Virgins I might add. The Denton Delinquents Cabaret will be on hand performing it as well. Plus they are showing Repo The Genetic Opera after that. All in all, groovy Halloween fun. Plus I think I might take them to the Haunted House 13th Door out by us after the movie. Kidlet is going as an even more demented than usual Queen of Hearts from Alice. I found her High Heeled Red Sparkly Mary Janes. In other words...Columbia shoes!!

Now for music this week. There are very few artists who get to have an entire album on my iPod. Obviously U2 and Green Day. But one album that easily makes my Top Albums of all time and one of the few complete ones is Celebrity Skin. Courtney is cray-zay but this album is fucking stellar.

Dammit!!

I forgot to drink last night. Bah. Hum. Bug.

I did vacuum, clean the bathrooms, finish the last minute packing, take out all of the garbage, clean the cat box, pack the cat stuff, send the cats to my parents house, finish ripping 4 cd's and doing the iTunes, water the front porch flowers and water the back porch flowers. All between 6:30 and 10. Thank goodness today is only at 10 hour day. By the time I clock out I will have 32 hours for this week and it is only Tuesday!

Not surprisingly I went to bed early.

Tonight is sleepover at PDX time! I have crosswords and a book to read so I am set on that account. The final errand I have is to stop at the Mac Store and get a wall charger for the iPods. Then I swing home for a final watering of the flowers and to pull the garbage cans in and then head over to Mom's. My plan is to shower there and eat and then have dad take me to the airport. And by this time tomorrow I will be sitting in a nice Hawaiian airlines plane headed to the land of Aloha!

She's A Natural Disaster, She's The Last Of The American Girls

Cause I am one. I got to the office at 4:30 am after taking Kidlet to the airport. We slept, oh maybe an hour tops. If that. So basically I have been up now for 24 hours. Coffee! STAT!!

Kidlet's plane got out on time and other than needing to get a wall charger for the iPods, a refill of one of my meds and a 1 GB memory card for her camera I am pretty much packed. One duffel bag. Cause Starr travels light. I mean it's Hawaii. What do I need other than some lounge pants skirts and a swim suit? Not much.

'Cept Rum =)

I am tracking Kidlet's plan. Man do they have a killer schedule. Reminds me of Starr's European Vacation with the killer schedule. They eat breakfast every day at either 7 or 730 and then they are gone from the hotel until 10-10:30 at night. I'll update her itinerary later on. I did set them up with a blogger blog for those that are interested in viewing their trip. Hopefully they will add stuff to it when they make it back to their hotels!

DC Or Bust Blog

As for me, I am working 10 today, tomorrow I am sleeping in then redoing Kidlet's closet and doing laundry. Running my errands for the above mentioned items, and packing the cats over to my parents. Sunday I work 12 hours. Mon and Tues I do 10 hours. I have 8 hours from working Memorial Day that I get to use for my Wednesday hours which puts me at 40 hours total. Next week I get paid for a whopping 18 hours cause Kidlet's headaches kill my time off. On the plus side, I did scope out where Kidlet and I are gonna crash next Tuesday night AND Beaverton Bakery opens up way early in the morning in the airport. I was able to get coffee at 3:45.

And now I leave you with yet another of my favorites from the new Green Day. Last of the American Girls and it's Live no less from the Fox Theater.

Nude Noodle Model Parlor In The Nefarious Zone

Holy Shit. THIS is a Tango. There are often great dances on Dancing With The Stars but So You Think You Can Dance is leaps and bounds (HAR! Dance pun!) a better show for dance. These two are professionals. Every week they will feature different dance styles from around the world. Uncle Nigel puts on a damn fine dance show.

I would LOVE to be able to dance like that. More than money I think have that talent would be seriously awesome.

Got my Rolling Stone with the Glambert on the cover. That boy is Hawt with a Capital H. Not playing for my team, but hey he did fess up to possibly being bi-curious. Millions of women have new hope in their heart. His brother calls him a "glittery alien from Planet Fierce" and I agree.

8th Grade Grad was entertaining. Man her principal is a tool. Mush Mouthed Tool at that. We had dinner with my parents before the ceremony then met up with her Dad and his GF. Then we all got numb bum on those damn narrow wood bleachers. Mubble Man gave a suitably uninspired Stairway to Heaven themed "speech." Or mumble. Kidlet's Dad was rolling his eyes. I told him I was glad he was there cause I felt like less of a bitch =)

Child O Mine got two giant bunches of flowers (one from me one from her dad...and we somehow managed to color coordinate!) a brand new version of her favorite purse (she calls it precious) and the Wayfarer glasses I covet. Oh and her dad gave her a hundred bucks. I got her a couple of her ever popular band t-shirts (Green Day and a truly awesome Mozzer Posse shirt with Morrisey on it) and a bottle of French Lilac perfume. We still don't know how much she gets from the Fund Raiser. Hopefully I will get the cash on Monday.

Let's see. Weekly schedule. Dance for small child tomorrow. Saturday we are taking Harley and Gabe to visit with their "sisters" over at my mom's house since they will be there while we are in Hawaii. Mom has a house/cat sitter who comes in when we go to Aloha Land.

Sunday sees Kidlet, one of her BFF's and Moi will working with Cascade AIDS project in the Portland Pride Parade. We are walking with the CAP team. Then Kidlet goes to her dad's for the week until Thursday night when I get her back and we do our hell night. We have to be up at 2am so we can be at the airport by 4am for her flight to DC.

The Hawaii counter is now under 2 weeks. WOOT! Kidlet is taking her computer so I will blog and post some pictures while we are there. Maybe :P

I am such a Blog Tease. I leave you with Citizen Strummer an the Mescaleros and another Tangolicious song.

What's Up?

So it has been a long week. I worked concessions BOTH nights. Monday went to work, Kidlet had migraine. Tues and today Kidlet has super sore throat and a low grade fever. So today we take Kidlet in for a strep test. Yippe Ki-Yay.

I have SUCKED hard at visiting y'all and writing on this for the last several days. Call it mental overload and a rather unseemly addiction to Gossip Girl. Yes I know. Sorry but Chuck Bass cracks me the fuck up and I wish I could redo my Brit list and add Ed Westwick to it. He's adorable and plays that sleaze wonderfully.

Speaking of sleazy, Kara Di Gagmeo needs to get the fuck off of my Idol stage. She babbles about artistry and emotional connection way to fucking much. After last night the only judge I care about coming is....Paula Fucking Abdul. Dawg, Artistry Twat and Simon can go. Simon is totally capable of giving dead on criticism. He is just not very subtle at the manipulations he pulls to get his chosen finale. And I think he is bored and it shows. Paula, God Bless her, might look like a drugged out crustacean but she was with it last night.

And Adam Lambert kicks ass. I might just end up loving Adam more than Cook. Just because American Idol totally needs an out of the closet, in your face, pink staircase working, citizen from Planet Glitter as a winner. And he made me love that 4 Non Blondes Song. Which is, in many ways, far worse than Cook making me love a Mariah Carey song. What's Up is like the My Heart Will Go On of the Grunge set. But Adam in a cabaret wearing a sparkly Bowie shirt has full on won me over.

Got Sore Feets?

Cause Kidlet and I do. We had a long day yesterday. Dentist and PT and shopping for the Art Auction and then selling concessions for Kidlets DC trip at the school play. We did great! raised over 140 bucks in just one night. Kidlet and I are going the play next Friday night.

Tonight is the Cascade AIDS Project Art Auction. We have our foo foo clothes and are flip flops for walking to and from the grand shin dig. Tomorrow we go back for wrap up work and then we get to back to school and work for some rest :P

Do You Know Your Enemy?

Tonight Run Forrest Run aka Kidlet and I will be heading downtown for training in for the Cascade AIDS Project Art Auction. Auction takes place Saturday the 18th and we are working registration from 4:30 -9:30 that night. Should be fun. Getting Gimpy Girl downtown? Not as much. CAP is in a funky spot in downtown PDX and I have got to find a decent spot to drop her off so that she does not have a hell of a trek. Then I have to find parking. Yikes. But we get to eat downtown. I am feeling like Greek food so I think we may hit the Greek Taverna. NO ...The Marrakesh! Oh yes the 5 course dinner with the soup and salad and a brochette of lamb. Hell yes. I love that place. Kidlet will literally spaz out if I tell her we are going there. Oh yes and belly dancing. Beats Hells Kitchen. Sorry Gordon. Training runs from 6-730 and then it's Moroccan food for us. They have the best mint tea and they pour it in a most cool way.

On that note I am off to fine food in the cafe and I leave you with 90 seconds of the new Green Day single. They did a one off surprise concert in San Fran on Tuesday. Right after Kidlet leaves. She is not amused.

Me loves this.

Someone Call The Ambulance, There's Gonna Be An Accident

That, my friends, is Kidlet's theme song. Guess who sprained her knee and dislocated her knee cap?! ON AUCTION DAY!!

Yeah.

We finished up the auction at 5 and I checked my phone....8 missed calls. Oh Lordy. Mom got her and her dad got her medicines. She is on some hardcore anti inflammatory and vicodine for the pain. And we get to go to our favorite Bone and Joint clinic Doc on Tuesday.

It was really bad this time. She has had the kneecap slide off before, we both have for that matter. This time...it didn't go back on it's own. So she is in a big old brace for a bit.

I didn't win a thing at the auction but we will have raised over $28000 for our charities! Our CEO matches what we raise so each of our two charities will get a check for around 28k. One was a food bank and one was an intensive in patient program for severely abused pre-school aged kids.

We have about 30 minutes to tear down the stage and clean up before the next event rolls in and then we headed upstairs where our CEO and our COO -who is also our executive sponcer for the auction AND the poor woman we dress up every year - have an after party for us. Finger food and beer and wine and of course we talked shop. This year our theme was "It's a jungle out there, people" which happens to be a favorite saying of our CEO. Whom we adore. OH...and he gave the committee folks 8 hours of vacation time =)

Next year is our 20th auction. We are thinking Roaring 20's.

Next up, Kidlet aka GimpyButt aka Danger Prone Daphne and I go for training for the Cascade AIDS project Art Auction at the convention center later this month. Training is this Thursday and the Auction is the 18th. We get to get all purdy'd up in black and white and register people and run their cards to register them for their auction bids. Should be fun =)

Just for kidlet....this is my ringtone for her :P

There's A Ringing In My Ear From When I Called You

I have shot my wad creatively speaking rather than semenally that is, over at MattMan's House of Bagwine.Good discussion going on in comments on the nature of God.

Let's see. Got a gloating phone call from Kidlet with a review of their fun filled day including food and Gerard Depardo's chauffer. Got my pasta on last night courtesy of a recipe ala Mama San. Watched Lost In Austen and loved it. Well the end annoyed me but we got a Hot Darcy and an even Hotter Bingley so that was fun. Then watched Castle cause I am fully hooked on that show.

Today I have more data entry, I am HOPING I finally get a meeting with marketing, I have a charity auction meeting this afternoon and then home where to laundry. I live the high life, I am tellin ya.

Speaking of Castle, this band had their song as the opening scene last night and I LOVE IT. I am pissy though cause much like Cage the Elephant I can't buy them in the States. Grr. Check them out, Two Hours Traffic with Jezebel.

Edit to add you can listen to this entire album at their website here and you can find the album Little Jabs at CD Baby.

Kidlet Has Bronchitis

Hence my absence from my blog and others. Been home taking care of her. She is doing better but she is very tired. Cough is much worse at night so neither of us sleep much. Even on codeine she coughs, the poor kid. Hopefully by Friday she will be back at school and I will be back at work.

Over and out until then =)

Kidlet Is Old!

In her words, half way to 28 which is close to 30. So yes, 14. Going on 28 easily. Took her for Wu-Cakes before school today. Marionberry syrup is the win. Her dad is taking her to dinner tonight since this is his year. Not sure on a party. She is inclined to do the Hot Topic, Fondue and Twilight Saturday party with just me as her friends are being, well, 13 :P

Why Does It Always Rain On Me?

I am grounded. I am grounded to my room and all my books (specifically the Twilight Saga) are to be turned over to my mom. Yes, Gentle Readers, she is hooked now too. I am gonna buy her a ticket to the Sunday show Kidlet and I are going to.

Kidlet's appointment went well. I LOVE her doctor. They are sending her to PT to start off with to see if loosening her up will help. Once she has done that for 3 months or so we will go back and see if the Doc wants to do more diagnostics.

Today is her Gastrology appointment to see if she does indeed have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Which I would bet my hat on since she woke up in the night puking after stressing about friends and a guitar performance in front of her entire school. Seems one of her (MANY) guy friends volunteer her to play guitar with him and a bunch of her other guy friends. She be tweakin. And her best friends are acting up a bit and that is freaking her out. Poor girl. She has reached the point in time where she gets along WAY better with guys than girls. Just like her mom. Girls hated me. Guys adored me.

I Don't Ever Want To Play The Part Of A Statistic On A Government Chart

Yay! It is vacation weekend!! Well tomorrow. Today it is Saturday at work day again. I be am sad. I took a 4 day course of cortisone for my exema and the lovely side effect was that my knee finally stopped hurting! It's been on my ass since the day after the AIDS walk. So two days after I stopped taking the cortisone? Boom. Knee fuckage again. I am going to have to make an appointment when we get back and go see my doc and get an xray. I am pretty sure it is bursitis. Better not try to give me a shot in my knee or I will hurl on her. I swear.

Kidlet had her back xray and it shows some funkiness with her lower vertebrae. So we get to take her to a Ped's rheum to have that evaluated. Cross fingers it is not a spondylarthopathy. Day after she has the Rheum appointment she has the Gastro appointment. Since IBD goes with some of those SA diseases the time is good. She is not amused. I am not amused. Stupid autoimmune crap.

After the Gastro appointment we are going to be greeters at CAP's Red Ribbon Event. That should be fun. We gotta remember to wear bright red. The charity auction is starting to ramp up and so is my fundraising work for Kidlet's trip to DC.

But first we get to go to the coast this weekend. Back to the Overleaf Lodge. My friend Hope and I are going halvsies on a suite as it ended up being all of about 10 bucks a night more than single rooms. Plus we have a Jacuzzi in the corner window right over the ocean. Monday we are going into Newport for Girl's Spa Day. Hope is doing a salt scrub (very oceanic of her) while Kidlet and I are doing massages and soaking our less than pretty feet in peppermint soaks. We have a kitchen so we can avoid eating out. We are gonna get crab and fruit and cheese and watch a lot of movies and hang out.

LOL! Need more coffee. Just published this before I was done. Durrrrrrrr......

I am gonna MAKE that child of mine upload her damn photo's to flicr so I can set her up an albums. Oh...note to self, buy batteries for Kidlet's camera.

I am pondering making soup and taking it with us. Potato cheese sound dee-lish. Mine is deeee-lish. I could make it and we could have some tonight and then take down the rest for tomorrow night. Hrmm. The Lodge feeds us Breakfast so we just need to cover lunch and dinner. Maybe the Adobe for dinner one night. We shall see. We come back Tuesday. I am looking forward to a nice relaxing trip.

Music time! Ya know I can't leave you without some sort of music. I am pondering my mood musically today. Hrmms. Time for random shufflage. AH hah!!!

The Police and Bono - Invisible Sun circa 1986. It's Hatman and Wonder Nehru (watch the vid) together at last! I always thought those two didn't get along. Guess not. Here is a bit of Starr trivia. Synchronicity so not my favorite album. In fact I damn near hate it. Well not hate but much like Stairway to Heaven if I never have to hear Wrapped Around Your Finger, King of Pain or Every Breath or Synchronicity again I would not weep. Although I do love Walking In Your Footsteps. It is the only one that sounds like it could have dropped off of Ghost In The Machine. Which is my favorite (by a smidge over Regatta) Police album. Oh and I like Tea in The Sahara as well.

Walking In Your Footsteps - Live Montreal 1983.

More 80's for you, my second favorite Furs song, All That Money Wants

Oh my god, I am old. The Plimsouls - Million Miles Away live 2007.

And finally my favorite Bob Marley song, Lively Up Yourself. You gotta be lively, y'all. Happy Weekend, Peeps!

Abashed The Devil Stood And Felt How Awful Goodness Is

Stole that from the Kidlet, who stole it from The Crow, who stole it from Milton of course =)

Happy Hallows, All!!! My favorite Holiday.

Tomorrow Kidlet will be hosting her Hallows Bash at her dads. I am getting her and her friends and a bunch of cupcakes and then I am going to drop them off. Kidlet has my copy of the crow though. Oh wait!! I have vhs as well! Hot damn.

I had planned on putting up more of Kidlet's pics for Thursday Thirteen but I totally spaced out that we had a fund raising meeting last night. And then this morning we had a repeat on the whole back pain, throwing up routine. This time though Kidlet had some symptoms that could mean a kidney infection. Which she had a shit ton of as a baby and toddler. That said here are a few of em.

And finally I gotta leave you with a song or two for the occasion. First up one of my favorite covers and from The Crow as well - nice tie in, eh?

And of course Ministry -Every Day Is Halloween

And finally a shout out to the coolest of Goth Chicks AND the coolest of Black Cats, Peepers.
