Farmland #15 (with wip and detail shots)

I'm including detail pics and a couple of work in progress pics with this one. I started on an old painting that I turned upside down. I drew all my lines and shapes in with a thinned black, and then thinly blocked color in. I let it set overnight and came back this morning and finished it up.

Step one was to draw in the lines and shapes.

Here I laid in thin color.

Detroit Rock City!

I did this piece over a failed painting from a long time ago. I toned the canvas dark, burnt umber, and let it sit for a few months, then painted on top the last couple of days. I could still see the painting underneath so I turned the canvas upside down to take away that distraction.

Oak and a painting partner

I had the pleasure of painting outside with my 10 year old daughter today. It was her first foray into oils. I think she had fun. Kids sure do tire easy these days though. I went about an hour and a half longer than she did. ;) We had a good time, and I hope to do it again soon.

Waterview House and Barn

I painted under the awning of the Kountry Kitchen Store in Waterview, Kentucky today. The folks that run and work at the store are extremely nice and I appreciate them letting me set up just outside their front door. Especially since this was their Grand Opening after having moved locations. It also didn't hurt that I got a free donut. Man! Those things are good!

I'm including some detail shots.

Here's one I painted today. What a beautiful day it was. About 80 degrees with a light breeze.

Lakeside Cedar - Step by Step

Painted down by the lake again today. Pushing 100 degrees. My daughter swam while I worked on this picture. I talked to lots of folks today, and that's always one of my favorite parts of painting in public.
