Mosaic Monday Bunday

This will be my last Mosaic Monday Bunday for a while, folks.  I can't get the Picasa Web Album to show me the images I am uploading without sharing them all to G+ and since I don't want use my G+ like that, I am forced to stop posting.  I am frustrated to tears by this, and will continue to find another way around this, but until then, MMB is on hiatus.

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  I don't think I've ever actually done this -- I usually have a theme in mind -- but this time, I had no theme!  So I took a trip through my faves and thought I'd share my favorite faves with you!  ^o^

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday! This week's theme is in honor of Pink Shirt Day, an idea that started with two high school students from Nova Scotia, Canada. They organized a protest to take a stand against bullying in their school, in particular the bullying of one freshman who chose to wear a pink shirt. Here is the story from the site:
“David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied [for wearing a pink shirt]…[They] took a stand against bullying when they protested against the harassment of a new Grade 9 student by distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their school.

‘I learned that two people can come up with an idea, run with it, and it can do wonders,’ says Mr. Price, 17, who organized the pink protest. ‘Finally, someone stood up for a weaker kid.’

So Mr. Shepherd and some other headed off to a discount store and bought 50 pink tank tops. They sent out message to schoolmates that night, and the next morning they hauled the shirts to school in a plastic bag.

As they stood in the foyer handing out the shirts, the bullied boy walked in. His face spoke volumes. ‘It looked like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders,’ Mr. Price recalled.

The bullies were never heard from again.”
I hope you'll choose to wear a pink shirt this Wednesday, February 27th, and raise awareness about the bullying that takes place in not just our schools, but at work, at home, and online too.

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  In case you haven't noticed, it's almost February!  And you know what that means don't you?  It means in just a few days we'll be celebrating Imbolc!  Many of you may also know this holiday as Groundhog's Day, or even perhaps as Candlemas!  No matter what you call it, this day always brings a bit of fun and the first hints of the coming Spring: a melting of the snow, a warming of the weather, a brightening of the day...

Today's Mosaic Monday Bunday celebrates Imbolc with a mosaic full of rabbits and lambs and candles, and if you look hard enough, the groundhog!  Do you think he'll see his shadow?  I hope not; I've had enough of winter already!  Although, as my grandma always said, if he sees his shadow we'll have six more weeks of winter, if not, it'll only be a month and a half to an early spring!  XD

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  Today we're a few days into Hannu Chanukk --- Hanukkah?  Chanukah?  Really, I am never sure what the official spelling of the holiday is!  To all my Jewish friends I am heartily sorry and mean no offense!

Anyway, I was surprised by the scarcity of rabbity Hanukkah items on Etsy!  I think many of the items I came across were just tagged Hanukkah as a gift idea, not as an actual holiday item.  But nevertheless, I did find some lovely bunny-themed Hanukkah things that I think are just perfect!  So Shalom & Chag Sameach!

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  Happy December!  What a great start to the holiday season, eh?  Snow on the ground, holiday songs on the radio, tasty treats in the fridge, and holiday movies on the TV...

This Thursday is Saint Nicholas' Day.  When I was a little girl, my mom would have me put my shoes outside my bedroom door for Saint Nick, and in the morning, I'd find little gifts and candy in them.  She told me that he'd leave coal for naughty children.  I've learned since then that in other countries, children leave hay & carrots for his horse or donkey, and that he collects the children's wish lists.

So in honor of this fun little holiday, here is this week's Mosaic Monday Bunday: Saint Nick & Rabbits!

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  This past weekend, we got our first snow-that-sticks of the winter.  Saturday we woke up to a light dusting that didn't quite melt by sunset, and as I create this, Sunday morning, the snow is falling in fat fluffy flakes blanketing everything.  So today's Mosaic Monday Bunday pays tribute to SNOW and the upcoming winter season...

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  Tomorrow is Election Day here in the United States and I want to remind you all to get out there and vote!  (I did try to find *something* with rabbits & Romney - to keep this more neutral - but the only items I got were yarns and oven & bath mitts! XD )

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday! This week, we celebrate United Nations Day on Friday the 26th. I remember getting little UNICEF boxes as child to fill with change and return to school and I vaguely remember something in the history books about the UN, but to be honest, I never gave them much thought. But the United Nations does a lot of good work "maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights." (http://www.un.org/en/aboutun/index.shtml)

So here is my Mosaic Monday Bunday salute to the UN, including pieces from or inspired by the original 5 countries to join and a few of the more recent members.  (Yes, there were other more recent members to join, but I couldn't find anything suitable on Etsy.)
