Guess what S.C. town?

Car Wash mural, S.C.
My last entry in the Guess What S.C. town? series was clearly too easy. Let's see if anyone recognizes this spot. You'd have to be very familiar with back roads because I had to check the next sign to figure out where I was myself. The cool mural was painted on the sign of a car wash.

Guess what S.C. town?

Guess what S.C. town?

Let's see who knows their small towns in South Carolina. Where is this tiny Barber & Beauty Shop? Not that it matters. There is probably one just like it in every small town in South Carolina.

Guess What SC Town?

Small town, S.C.

Can anyone identify this small South Carolina town? I took the picture some time ago with this in mind and then realized there were banners flying announcing the name of the town. I had to block out the words on the banner so it wouldn't be quite that easy for you.

What is everyone up to this morning? I just dropped my nephew off at the airport :(. We made pralines last night for him to take home so first I'll see if there any left that need to be cleaned up. Meanwhile no one has shown up to mop, vacuum or clean the bathroom for me so I suppose I am expected to do that. Blah.

Somewhere, S.C.

This one may be too easy if you live in the Lowcountry. Can you guess what South Carolina town it is?

Guess what S.C. town - Ridgeway

Ridgeway, S.C.

Caroline in the City correctly identified the location of the tiny Police Station in the "Guess what S.C.?" entry on the blog and Frankie on Facebook. My entries roll over to Facebook and there was a separate discussion there. The Police Station is billed as the world's smallest Police Station and was in use until the 1990's.

Larger resolution files here. Ridgeway, S.C. is in Fairfield County and I was tickled to see they are using my pictures on their web site.
Originally known as New Town, Ridgeway obtained its present name when the owners of the Charlotte and South Carolina Railway decided not to build the railroad on the Camden route, but rather to use the "ridge way." The railroad spurred growth of the town.

The first telegraph line was completed in the Ridgeway area in 1855 with wires being stretched from tree to tree. The telegraph played an important role in the civil war as did the town itself.

The earliest settlers of the Ridgeway area came south in the late 1700's from Virginia after the Revolutionary War. Others came north from Charleston in the early 1800's.

The light colored building houses a wonderful gift shop and upstairs Laura's Tearoom, which I was told you'd best have reservations for. Thanks to Caroline in the City whose original entry on Ridgeway sparked my interest in the first place and prompted the day trip last fall. I had a good meal in the Old Town Hall, bottom photo. It is a neat little historic town and made a worthwhile drive in the country.

Guess What SC Town?

S.C.

Put on your thinking caps, kids. It's time to play "Guess what South Carolina town this is in...?" It used to be the police station and has been billed as the world's smallest. Now it houses visitor information brochures.

I am going for a walk while you figure it out. It's been a heck of a day.

Guess What SC Town?

Guess What S.C. Town?

Okay, kids. This is the second in the series of "Guess what SC town?" photos. This one is too easy so I am not going to let you enlarge it.

Not one of you had dinner ready for me so I am making my own chicken ginger mushroom onion celery lemon garlic soup. Yummers. That's pretty much everything I had on hand.

Check out this fun picture of a seal trying to get in the photographer's shot. I grin every time I look at it.

I don't think Facebook should be able to call something an "invite" if it has a fee do you? That's called an "advertisement". I keep thinking someone really likes me and it turns out they just want to sell me a ticket. Hmmmph.
