This month the world's number one bedding brand, Sealy, is celebrating 25 years operating in New Zealand. As part of their celebration they have teamed up with four very talented New Zealand designers in a charity campaign for New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF).
Masters in their own fields, ASKEW ONE (Elliot O’Donnell), Denise L’Estrange-Corbet, Juliette Hogan, and LeeAnn Yare have now mastered the art of sleep by designing a bespoke fabric panel for a Sealy Posturepedic Exquisite bed. I love this concept - the beds all look so great, you definitely won't want to cover them up with valances and bedspreads. The beds are all listed on TradeMe and the auctions close 28 October, so get bidding.
LeeAnn Yare | interior designer: "Carnival" was inspired by LeeAnn's most recent bed linen range for her store, Collected. She has a thing for simple yet bold graphic shapes and really wanted to turn up the volume with her bed design.
Juliette Hogan | fashion designer: "Dalmation Silk Print" takes Juliette's love for monochrome and mixes it with the luxe revival of an animal print we all love. Her design is gorgeous, yet understated, inspired by her upcoming '15 collection.
Denise L'Estrange-Corbet | fashion designer: "Pebbles" is an eccentric and eclectic polka-dot cover that perfectly captures the essence of Denise's internationally acclaimed label, WORLD. She wanted to create something fun, so bright and bold was an obvious choice.
Elliot O'Donnell (ASKEW ONE) | artist: "Aute Uliuli" features (if you look closely) shell necklaces and hibiscus flowers that Askew has spray painted for his design. In a time of extensive digital production, he pulls back his approach to 'construct' his art, focusing more on the props and accessories.
When you bid on one of these amazing Sealy bespoke designer beds, you are not only one step closer to an exceptional night's sleep, but you are also helping to fund research and support women in New Zealand with breast cancer. Go for it, bid now!

Holiday House Hamptons
I came across the Holiday House Hamptons website in the weekend, and was inspired by it's concept. Founder, Iris Dankner, is passionate about interior design, and decided to combine it with her other passion of fundraising for breast cancer research. She created a fundraising event by inviting talented designers from across the US to transform the historic Academy Mansion on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Now an annual event, the 2014 Holiday House Hamptons is being held at Watchcase in Sag Harbor, showcasing stylish summer living and entertaining.
Each space is designed around a holiday or special moment in life that inspires the designer. These are some of my favourite rooms. Tamara Magel was inspired by European culture and the casual style of Sag Harbor. The clean and sophisticated palette reflects the beach and boating lifestyle of the area.
I love the mix of textures - the brick wall, the wooden floor and ceiling, and the sisal rug contrast the smooth marble and brass side table, and the black wall. Even the clever art piece above the bed features subtle texture. The throw and bedding add softness, and it's styled simply but beautifully to let each piece shine.
Campion Platt designed this master bedroom channeling the "straightforward sensual exuberance of a wealthy Hamptonite". They complemented the industrial nature of the room with soft feminine touches and a bold colour palette.
The floral theme carries on into the bathroom, which I adore. The same colours are used to link the two rooms, but in a much more subtle way.
This study/bedroom is the work of Bjørnen Design, and the theme, Seahorse Country, is a playful reference to the surrounding coastal sea life and equestrian culture of East End farms. The beautiful aquatic tones and patterns are quite stunning, and the rustic wooden coffee tables adds some weight and grounds the space.
The fun continues into the bathroom which is a jungle of plants bringing delicious texture, not to mention life!
This would be such a fun project for a designer - creating a space with no client, only unlimited imagination! I would LOVE it! To see more of the rooms pop over here, where Houzz contributor, and photographer, Rikki Snyder, gives us a rundown.

A Warm Welcome
Phew, it's been one busy day packaging up gorgeous Cush & Nooks products ready to send off to some lovely customers. And I'm off soon to my very first Pecha Kucha evening - very excited! Pecha Kucha draws it's name from the Japanese term 'chit chat', and originated in Tokyo in 2003, when an event was held for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It works on a simple presentation format - 20 images x 20 seconds.
It has now turned into a massive celebration with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Tonight's evening in Clive, Hawke's Bay boasts some fabulous names in the art world, I can't wait!
I'll leave you with a very cool concept store in Hong Kong called Konzepp. Filled with fun little gadgets and trinkets, you couldn't help but be drawn in by the golden yellow glow of the building itself. So cool, read more about it here.
