A few years ago, I bought a book that was on sale at Urban Outfitters because the title made me really curious: This Book Will Change Your Life The premise is you have to read one page each day and do what the instructions say. By doing this, you will apparently change your life. (I'm crappy at describing books, just go to the link.) Anyways, I forgot about the book until I was cleaning (when I say cleaning, I mean randomly moving stuff around my room). So, I thought, what the hey, new school year, new outlook? I'm going to ATTEMPT to do this and blog about it.
The first day asked me to do a bit of a warm-up by choosing an easy task from the following list:
Do one press-up
Perform a strip tease
Triple-tie your shoelaces
Learn to play Chopsticks
Increase my typing speed by three words a minute
Jaywalk in a pedestrian zone
Set all my clocks to the correct time
Whisper a white lie when no one's listening.
Fantasize about my partner
Use a different comb
Say "yo" instead of "hello"
Hold the phone up to my other ear
Tell someone my middle name
Try a new sandwich filling
Leave work five minutes early
Bookmark a new website
Give your genitalia pet names
Decide which toe is the prettiest
Insult an insect
Go on a one-minute hunger strike
I chose to give my genitalia a pet name because it seemed the most humorous. I didn't have any good names in mind so I decided to do a little internet research to see what other people name their genitalia. I had a rough time finding anything with this particular search but I DID find that their are actually people named "Vagina". God bless them.
So I decided to do something easier and what I felt was much more worthwhile: set all my clocks to the correct time. I have my bedroom clock set ten minutes fast so I can take ten minutes to wake up in the morning. Let's hope I remember that the next time I need to set my alarm clock.
This was not a very vexing activity, but they get harder as each day goes on, so I should enjoy it now before I get uncomfortable.
