Hello Dolly

What's It Wednesday #87

Hello Dolly, well hello Dolly, It's so nice to have you back where you belong...

I can hear Louis Armstrong or Carol Channing singing this classic tune. It's the perfect tune to sing when your playing with your daughter's collection of vintage dollies.

Ok, truth be told, my daughter does not actually know she has a collection of vintage dolls but she will one day. I promise. I decided to start her collection with this Victorian Era doll dresser. Apparently antique doll furniture is highly sought after. This I did not know.

The wooden dresser has a tall swivel mirror. Below the dresser top are three wide drawers. The top of the dresser is a perfect place to display vintage dolls and antique lace. I store my grandmother's and great-grandmother's handkerchiefs in the top drawers.

I placed this hand painted vintage 3-inch porcelain baby doll in the bottom drawer so everyone could see her pretty laced dress. All of her delicate joints are movable.

This primitive rag doll came from an antique dealer that has unfortunately fallen on hard times and was able to let her go for a steal. I promised that I, I mean my daughter would always take very good care of her.

This little guy is only about 4 inches tall. He is a bisque doll with jointed movable parts. Although he is very fragile, he is one of my favorites.

You can't have a doll dresser with out having vintage doll clothes to put inside. One day I will pass these wonderful treasures to my daughter. But right now she is only three years old which gives me more time to play with them.

What was or is your favorite piece of doll furniture when you were growing up?
