There were 20 ice sculptures around town.

Back to the Sherwood Inn for lunch.
We ate onion soup and chili and had

sharon springs, ny harvest fest part I

A few months ago I discovered the show "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" on the Planet Green channel.  I immediately became a fan.  The show follows the lives of Josh Kilmer-Purcell, a writer and  his partner Dr. Brent Green.  To read all about the show and the Beekman Boys go here and here.  One of the episodes is about a harvest festival they started in the small nearby town of Sharon Springs, NYSo, my friend Tami and I had to go to the this year's festival hoping that we would be able to meet one of the Beekman Boys.  The weather was perfect for a drive on scenic Route 20.  Within a half hour of our arrival in Sharon Springs we were on the porch waiting in line to get into the Beekman 1802 Mercantile.  Once in the store we bought Josh's book the Bucolic Plague, a Beekman 1802 shirt and some Blaak Cheese. We made our way outside to meet the very charming Dr. Brent.  We chatted for a moment, he signed our books and posed for a picture with us.  What a wonderful day.  PS - we heard Rosie O'Donnell was at the festival - didn't see her though.  I did see a picture of her on Facebook  taken on the porch with Dr. Brent and Josh.  Maybe next year Martha Stewart will be there. Wouldn't that be Fabulous!!

Our day started out with a good breakfast
at Quacks in Madison, NY.

Look at the line of people waiting to get into
the Beekman 1802 store run by the Josh and Brent.

ladies night

Last night I saw Kool and the Gang at the Great New York State Fair.  For the price of $6.00 (fair admission) I got to see this legendary band.  The band was jumping, the people were jumping and I forgot my camera.  So, let's get into the way back machine and listen to Kool and the Gang singing of my favorite songs to dance to....

lavender fest

What do you do when a friend asks if you want to go to a lavender fest?  Why, you say yes! After a wonderful drive along scenic Skaneateles Lake we arrived at the Lockwood Farm Lavender Fest.  The sun was shining and the skies were blue with white puffy clouds. The smell of lavender was everywhere. Upon arriving we went straight to the tent of our friend Cindy from Hidden Pond Farm to say hi and see her way cool handmade jewelry.  I wanted to buy everything but once again tried to restrain myself.  Well, her jewelry is so beautiful I had to buy a necklace and a bracelet.  So much for restraining myself.  So, I'll have to be frugal the next two weeks until my next paycheck.  After we were done cutting the lavender we walked down to the barn and watched the sheep coming in from the field.  The owner of the farm Karen Lockwood went into the barn and came out with a black baby lamb.  How cute!!  I'm so glad I said yes to the Lavender Fest invite and look forward to next year!!

The doors on the farm house are painted purple.
