family

My aunt, my mother, another aunt, my grandmother pregnant with my uncle.

Working on my family tree. Discovering things about my family I did not know. I love it. I feel like a detective. What excitement to discover something that you did not know. My mother is the only one left that remembers things so I have been asking and writing down everything she tells me. I did not know that my grandmother lived in Iowa. I did not know that her mother my great-grandmother and my great-great grandfather are buried in Iowa. My great-grandmother died in 1918 at the age of 38 of the great flu epidemic that killed an estimated 50 million people world wide.

snow gently falling

Just checked my visitor map - I  had many visitors and I haven't posted in about 2 months. Wow!  Thank you visitors.  Please check in with me again. Today in Central New York has been like living in a snow globe.  Snow has been falling gently all day.  I like days like today. It's so peaceful and quiet outside.  Good day to hang inside, curl up on the couch with a cup of hot tea  and watch an old movie or a football game.  Is that what I did?  No, I went to a birthday party for my nephew Brad.  Brad 6 years old, full of energy and a smile as wide as the grand canyon.

A Toy Story shirt and matching sweatpants.
That's my head peeking over Brad's shoulder.
 Camo was the theme.
Unknowingly (is that a word) I was dressed
appropriately in a green sweater and green jacket.
A cake made by a good friend.
How clever and delicious.
The frosting made our tongues
and teeth turn green.
Thank you Brad for inviting
us to your B-day party!

PS - I borrowed these pictures from his MOM.

family

Last night I had a wonderful evening with my family.  We gathered to have dinner and look over some old photos. The photos belonged to our Aunt Mary and Aunt Susie who have recently passed away.  We visited a newlywed couple's new home that will be the start of memories for them. We celebrated a birthday. We planned a trip.  The evening was filled with a lot of good food and a lot of laughter.

Aunts, uncles, cousins,
my grandmother and me as a baby.

My grandfather.

My parents.
