Pagerize This Challenge # 7 by Joni

Joni's Happy December is our 7th layout to be pagerized in our "Pagerize This Challenge. Joni was chosen by Gemiel as the winner of the Pagerize This Challenge #6.

When Joni found out she was chosen as winner she said:
I am so honored to be sharing the next Pagerize layout with you. I had a hard time deciding which layout to "challenge" you with.. In the end, I chose this Christmas layout that I did recently. I really like the stitched grid and all the "little" embellies that were placed in the grid and also that I used a "not perfect" photo ....so here it is....enjoy and I can't wait to see what you do !!!

Each month on the 15th we will post a new layout for you to "pagerize" (plagerize, copy, lift, steal) whatever term you want to use. The idea will be - to use the posted layout as your inspiration to create your own layout. You can "pagerize" as much or as little of the original layout as you choose. You may want to make a layout just like the one posted - or you may just want to use something about the layout as your inspiration. It's totally up to you.

Once you've completed your layout - email a picture and brief description to scrappinpsycho@live.com. All entries will be posted here at Scrap Our Stash. The challenge runs through midnight central time on March 12th. The "Pagerizer" (in this case Joni), will then choose a winner from all the entries. The winner will be announced on March 14th. Then the winner will be asked to submit a layout for us to "Pagerize" starting on the 15th of March. Then on the 12th of April - the winner will be chosen by the winner of the "Pagerize This Challenge #7" and on and on it goes.

Pagerize This #6 - Winner

Pagerizer Gemiel provided this layout for us all to Pagerize. Now it's time for her to pick a winner from all of the submissions. She said:

"I didn’t realize it would be so hard selecting a winner. There were so many fabulous layouts that it was hard to choose.

I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s take on my layout. It was exciting to see which design element was pagerized and how the layout turned out with each person’s own style added. But I did have to choose a winner, and that winner is ……..

Joni Parker!!!!

The patterned papers that she used complimented her photos perfectly and I really loved how she accented her title by placing the letter blocks on a postcard and adding some hand written journaling.

Thanks Gemiel for the great layout to pagerize and thanks to all those who participated in the Pagerize This Challenge.

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see Joni's project for You to Pagerize in The Pagerize This Challenge #7.

February Challenge by Wendy

Here is my February Challenge layout. I used the word Love as my title for this layout of Stephanie with her new baby sister. I really dug into my stash for this layout. I think the patterned paper may have been from the Target Dollar Spot at least a year ago, the scalloped baseboards are from when a local scrapbook store closed years ago, and the eyelets and brads are even older. The rick rack is from a bag I found at a rummage sale!

I am not one for empty space on a layout or just plain cardstock so I filled the white cardstock space with heart-shaped eyelets to create my own patterned paper. I painted the chipboard border with a pink base topped with a coat of specialty glaze.

Now, let's see your Love-themed layout or card!  See all the details on how you can take the challenge HERE!

February Challenge by Missy

I have loved these little mailboxes for years, but I was always too late to get them out of the dollar bins at Target. Not this year!! I just so happened to be there on the first day they put some out, and I bought one for each of my kids. I decided that I needed a couple of more, so I went back just a couple of days later, and they were already gone!

All of the printed paper and some of the cut-outs are from the We R Memory Keepers Be My Valentine kit. I had to use some Wonder Tape to attach the paper to the mailbox. My flag could not be removed. So to get the paper around it, I marked where the flag base was, and punched a couple of holes in my paper. Then I cut a slit from the side of the paper to the hole. You should be able to slide the flag through the slit and then glue the paper around it.

I also used my EK Success Slimline punch and a heart punch. The letters are cut from my Lyrical Letters cartridge.

Show and Tell Sunday -Finding Inspiration on Ebay

Be sure to scroll down the page - Scrap Our Stash posts something new everyday.

This is my first year participating in LOAD211(aka Layout a Day 2011). The theme this year is to find inspiration. On our challenge for day two, we were asked to go onto eBay and to do a web search for our name(or the name of a loved one). Then choose something on page one that inspired you to make a page.It was something I never thought to try before. I honestly did not expect much to appear with my name in it. However, a variety of novels and DVD's appeared. I settled for the cover of an Agatha Christie DVD. I could envision it as a sketch for some of my photos.

Amer. Crafts Cardstock, Cosmo Cricket Snorkel papers
Colorbok arrow, Basic Grey Brads,
Colorbox Chestnut Roan Ink
It ended up being a simple yet satisfying page. I invite you to try it out if you are missing a little mojo in your life right now.

The main one is Fancy Pants, I also used Design Originals and Karen Foster. Fancy Pants stickers complement the colors and the jewels are from Craft Designer. Thanks so much! February Challenge by Sarah

My page is on the theme of 'Sibling Love':
The quintessential Love/Hate relationship.
I've plans to pick away at our Wedding Album through 2011
(Read: Expect more Wedding Pages!),
it seemed the perfect time to Scrap these 2 pictures.
That's my Husband: Greg with his 2 younger siblings: Joey & Alicia.
During the photo shoot Joey decided to get sassy and grabbed Alicia,
so Greg grabbed Joey aaaaand...
so the story goes. Picture Proof!
Pattern Paper, Stickers and Journal Block are all Little Yellow Bicycle: Lucky Me. I bought a TON of this so the album will be as consistent as I can make it.
Rub-ons and 'enjoy the moment' stamp are Daisy Bucket.
Other Stamps are 7 Gypsy's: Family.
Ink is Stampin' Up!
Bling is $1 store leftovers from the wedding. We put 1 big Gem in the Middle of each Program, leaving me with quite a few sheets of extra Bling in the other sizes.

$$Frugal Friday Tip$$

Design Team Member Missy had the following Frugal Friday Tip to share:

I don't always pay attention when I am cutting out stuff with my Cricut. I forget to adjust the blade depth alot! If a cut won't punch out cleanly, turn it over to the back side and use some sandpaper to thin out the paper. You may have to do it a couple of times to get it punched out, but it will save you alot of time over using a craft knife and the chance that you will ruin cut!

Do you have a frugal tip you'd like to share?  Just email a picture (if possible) and your tip to scrappinpsycho@live.com .  Your tip could be featured as a future Frugal Friday Tip.

February Challenge by Ren-Yi

Scrap Our Stash's February challenge is to do a Love project. Go read all about it! With February and Valentine's Day just around the corner, this is the perfect project to put some color and warmth into our icy, cold winter days. I'm ready for the ice to just go away - every where I look at our flat New Jersey landscape, I see a bunch of snow mountains. Time for them to go away.

So here is my contribution by celebrating "Love" :)

I Love You

The heart is crocheted from my stash of scrap yarn. Here an up-close look:

I Love You

I used the same frame concept, inspired by the lovely Princess Belinda but instead of it being stamped, I drew mine out with pencil, pierced the frame, and back-stitched the entire thing with black thread.

Design Team Member Christy took Gemiel's Pagerize This Challenge.  Christy said:

I have had these photos for years. I guess they have been waiting for the perfect paper to scrap them with. At first, I was saving my Echo Park " Life is Good" papers for scrapbooking our current home. However, I reminded myself that new papers will come along shortly and I will inevitably want those...so therefore, use what I have now. Especially if what I have now inspires me.

I have been working on a family album for my son (and for future generations). Documenting the view from our first home seemed a perfect fit for this album. I think it will be fun to compare these photos, taken around the time we moved in, to photo of the day we moved out. When I saw Gemiel's page, I knew it's layout was a perfect fit for these photos showing the view from our front yard.

I also shared the story of how we bought this house. Would you believe our down payment was just $10? The market was pretty hot at the time. If you saw a house, you made an offer. This house was the third home we had looked at on our first day out. We knew it was a good investment. It had been a model home and the builder wanted to sell quickly so they could move on to a new community. I did not have the checkbook with me and the agent needed some sort of down payment to hold the home. So we gave her my husband's lunch money. It was the only cash we had on hand, but it did the trick!

February Challenge by Mary Pat

Be sure to scroll down the page - Scrap Our Stash posts something new everyday.

Hi everyone,
Mary Pat here bringing you my layout for the February Love Challenge.  I had so much fun with this challenge.  This fall I was able to capture this awesome picture of my hubby.  He usually doesn't like his picture taken, and he didn't know I was taking pictures--hehehehe.  I have been wanting to scrap this picture for awhile now, but I didn't know what I wanted to do.  So I dug deep into my stash and pulled out this old line from Basic Grey.  I had enough paper left that I was able to layer all the different designs. I love to do that!  I then got out my Silhouette and found this perfect title, and cut that out.  I then stamped my own journaling tag using an Ali Edwards stamp, and I listed all the things I love about my wonderful hubby!  If at all possible I love to stamp on my layouts!

Supplies
Basic Grey
Ali Edwards Stamp
Hero Arts Stamps

Now that you have seen my layout how about if you get started on yours!  All you have to do is make a card, layout or altered item about something you LOVE.  For all the details for the February Challenge click HERE

Is it bad that I am fast approaching my twelfth wedding anniversary and I still haven't scrapped a single one of my wedding photos? I thought about it for this challenge and then couldn't find any of my photos ( it was the the time before digital) so instead I have a LO about my daughter called "Love at first sight" I have used a Hambly doily paper for this LO - I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Hambly products- I love their papers but becaused they are so hard to get my hands on over here I hate using them! So it is a rare occurrence to see one of my LOs using Hambly.  Back to the LO- these are the first few photos of Nancy after her birth- it is her fourth birthday in February then she starts school- time flies so quickly.

Pagerize Gemiel by Sarah

I'm glad I finally found a few minutes to pull this together.
Being in Canada I have lots & lots & lots (did I mention lots?) of winter pictures...
most of which are sitting in my laptop unscrapped since winter is my least favorite season.
I was inspired by the color in Gemiel's LO and dug out and unopened Fancy Pants Kit: Happy Together, I'd been hoarding. It has similar colors and um... was not doing anybody any good gathering dust. All papers and Rub-Ons are from the Kit.
Snowflake Brads are Martha Stewart.
WOOF Chipboard Title was the last piece of Dog Kit I used up yeeeears ago.
Lace is from my auction lot of Vintage Lace.
~Sarah~

Journaling:
Winter 2009...
Big Snow Storm in January
Boys had several snow days...
the Dogs however were just

February Challenge by Kimmarie

Two Hearts One Love
I enjoyed making this layout of my daughter, Sara and her boyfriend, Travis. They have been dating for 2 1/2 years now. I think he is "the one". They are a sweet couple. My daughter is in college to become a vascular sonographer. She has it all planned out: graduate, start a career, marriage and children at a young age. I pray it happens for her. She is 19 today! Happy Birthday to my baby.

Design Team Member Christine E. submitted this layout for the February Love Challenge. She said, "I've had this photo of my youngest son, Elliott since last Summer, he had just turned 14 and was in full swing teenage mood but still loveable! I've used a heart as a mask and sprayed the kraft paper with Chalkboard White Glimmer Mist. All the other papers are My Minds Eye - Be Loved and the embellishments are bits and bobs from my odd box. The puzzle piece is actually from an old jigsaw we had in the house which I've covered. I still could not resist adding a butterfly or two!

Many thanks

February Challenge by Malina

Design Team Member Malina submitted this 2 page layout for the February Love Challenge.  She said:

A Design on Love:

With the theme of LOVE as this month's design challenge I decided to scrap LOVE for my beautiful young daughter as there is nothing I love more than both of my children. For me St. Valentine's day or rather that day to celebrate your love for another takes place just one week prior to February 1st. On the occassion of my first-born daughter's birth, when we could meet face to face rather than her foot to my rib :) I fell in love for the first time for real and as each year passes...this one being the 14th actually...I thank God for BOTH of my babies and then I thank Him for not allowing my heart to burst as it seems to just keep growing full.

I am certain if you are reading this you, like me, have a pretty nice scrap stash on hand, and perhaps like me you are frequently digging through thousands of patterned papers or cardstock to find just the right piece for whatever project you are working on only to keep finding the same stack of papers in the way! And while beautiful, they just won't go away!!!. Thank goodness I now had the perfect photos to compliment the papers who complimented each other so perfectly but apparently nothing else till now. I used photos of Taylor which I had taken this past fall and for the first time saw a young woman staring back not a child. I moved forward with that theme of love and growing up as a way to journal her a Happy Birthday. The journaling which can be read on the face of the design was written by an unknown author, however the green half circle punch below contains the remainder of my journalling which is written by myself to Taylor personally as a continuation from the front. As my hand journaling could be hard to read this poem begins "When I held you in my arms, for the first time, I thought I couldn't love you more..but then you grew. In those precious baby times through your first smile, your first tooth, your first steps, I thought I couldn't love you more...but then you grew." For readers interested in the remainder of the journaled poem, particularly my original portion written for my daughter as a gift to her birthday I will post the entire poem on my own blog site 3-5 days after this design is revealed here at Scrap Our Stash. Visit my blog or connect through Facebook at www.facebooks.com/MalinaofReflections

I have hand stitched the heart on a piece of heavy paper that has journal lines making a perfect addition to the page, especially as this is true scrap because I don't know what it really is or where it came from to begin with. I complimented the large flower patterned paper and small flower paper with various heavy paper textured flowers and button centers. I broke up a perfect yet boring green paper with a flower patterned vellum and then added more visual interest and texture using my Fiskars scallop edge punch and a zig zag machine stitch around all the coordinating paper edges except where I tore the bottom of the lighter paper and then inked it for additional depth. My mystery journal paper already had the notebook torn look on the left so I balanced it using a Martha Stewart edge punch but keeping things subtle by using a cardstock just a bit darker than the paper direclty behind it. I knew I would place a title in the middle of the heart but again I didn't want to overpower the design or take away from my focal point with is my beautiful daughter so I used metal letters tinted green that were not very large but still stood out.

Pagerize Gemiel- By Joni

I used the design of Gemiel's layout to create my version using Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 papers.  I really like the clean lines, minimal use of embellies & white space that helps showcase what I consider mediocre photos...(this is the 3rd layout I've done of this boat trip, so these photos are the "third" best choices from that ride).
