About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Christmas for Challenges

Good Morning All

Both challenges are Christmas this month.

Moving Along With The Times is just

Christmas

Chosen by me.

I use my Favourite ever Groovi plate and I managed to buy it when someone was destashing their Groovi plates.

I glittered parts of it and backed it onto pearlised green card.

Quite a quick card to make but I think, very effective.

************
Next is Crafty Friends Challenge and their theme is

Tradition Christmas Colours.

I chose Green & Gold for another CAS card.
Snowflake Embossing on Centura Pearl card and one of Johns sentiment diecuts.

Head on over to the challenge blogs and play along.

More CAS

 Good Morning All

We are not at Craft Club today as one of my ladies is 80 next week, Pat, so we are going out for a meal to celebrate.

So here are a couple of  CAS cards I made for the charity boxes.

The first one is  JND die cuts and embossed lines on the card blank.

This is a Creative Expressions die cut and it makes a very quick effective card.

Thanks for visiting and see you Sunday.

Christmas Crackers

 Good Morning All

The Cracker die from John (JND) is probably the most used of all my dies, and I have lots!!!!

Each year I make about 20 crackers using it to give all my class ladies and neighbours.  I fill with sweets which I buy when I visit UK as we like Heroes or Quality street etc and alot cheaper in UK than here.

I have used plain card for most of them and left one end open ready for the sweets.

I used Johns Poisettias too for decoration.

Now the die is being passed around my craft club ladies who all want to use it.

AG Christmas for Crafty Ribbons

 Good Morning All

Well my cold is getting better but not totally there yet.  Living life as normal and I have a Junk journal class this afternoon and we are making a Christmas notebook .

*********

I have this lovely card to show you today, another one using items from my stash.

For the sentiment I used a Word ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.

I think I am now at the end of using all my old Christmas papers, toppers and card.
Yeyyyy I can buy new next year!!!!

This year, to add to all my Craft ladies Christmas gift bags, I used John's (JND) Cracker die and made these.  This is so easy to use and just tie the ends with organza ribbon, easy and very effective.
I filled them with a little surprise nibble!!  Although I didn't add a snap so there will be no crack when they pull them, just something nice.

Good Morning All

So here goes.

Something Old - Stencil
Something New - Johns Mosaic die
Something Borrowed - Johns Blossoms die (borrowed from my Crafty mate Val J)

I inked the blossoms with Tim Holtz Distress  pads then sprayed with Izinks metalic spray so they look like I have used pearlised card.

Prize

Have fun.
**************
While I was out walking Rico the other morning the sky looked lovely and it got me thinking about the saying
'Every cloud has a Silver lining'
The photos dont do it justice, the silver lining was very prominent

I think the lockdown situation is getting to us all at present, it is for me.
I,m going through a spell of, not depression, but anxiety I think.
I cant settle to anything.  I go in my craft room and cant get inspired, so I half make a card then leave it.  I know I should do some more housework or clean some cupboards out but I cant motivate myself.
I know it will pass, the sooner the better.
Anyway at least the weather is getting better here, we have had alot of rain the past couple of weeks.

On a more cheery note, here is Tess learning to write her numbers.

It was nice enough to have a BBQ on the roof terrace yesterday, I even had to go and change into a pair of shorts!!!!!
We normally have a BBQ outside on the community space outside our kitchen window but that is not allowed at present.

Take care everyone

Dies Challenge Day 46 & CE Quilted block striplet & Mr & Mrs & JND Gerberas

Good Morning All

I have mentioned before that I dont make many Congrats cards - Wedding - Anniversary etc.
So this is one to go in the box.
This one came about as I wanted to use Johns Ribbon Threader die.
There are many variations to this die, circle, rectangle and square or where your imagination takes you.
I first used it for my very first Crafty Ribbons DT card HERE.

I threaded pale pink seam binding from Crafty Ribbons.
Used CE Striplet to cut into the card and matted onto Gold Mirri.

I added two appropriate charms where I tied the seam binding into a bow.

The Mr & Mrs is CE too.
I cut it twice, once in pink, once in Mirri.

I cut The Joanna Sheen Heart in pink.
Dies Used  -----
91.   JND  Ribbon Threader JNDMM008
92.   Creative Expressions  Striplet - Quilted Blocks - CED1607
93.   Creative Expressions Shadow Box Accessory - Mr & Mrs CED9304
94.   Joanna Sheen Signature Die - Love Heart - SD214
******************************************************

Another two cards using Johns Gerbera Die and stamps.
I absolutely love Johns flower dies and stamp sets.
They are so easy to use and line up, an ingenious idea.
A nice, bright, happy card all in yellows.
I stamped the Gerberas with Izink Miel.
Used the same ink for the edges of the embossed mat.
Added three of the flowers to the corner.
The vellum sentiment is an old one I have had for years.

My second card is a topper from Joanna Sheen I think.
It didn't really need much adding so I just stuck the last flower in the corner and added a sentiment tag.

Dies Used ----
95.   JNDGD010 - Gerbera Flowers

Emboss Folder Used ----
19.   Crafts Too - Sweet Lattice

A confession  I gave in and ordered Johns Pansy and Daisy dies yesterday, they are just gorgeous.

Dies Challenge Day 38 & Crafty Ribbons Spots

Good Morning All
Crafty Ribbons are having a Spots Week and I have made three  cards featuring two types of spotty ribbon available in store HERE
If you go on the FAcebook page of Crafty Ribbon snad comment on their post today, you will be in with a chance of winning a ribbon bundle.

When I was in the UK visiting Mums in January I bought John Next Doors Honesty dies.
This one is the Leaves which I cut from black card, rubbed with Mica Magics and then slotted back into the aperture.
I used Organza  1" wide spotty ribbon and narrow Grosgrain spotty ribbon too.

This one is the Honesty flowers, again coloured with Mica magics.,
This is a topper that was on a card I received from someone, waste not want not!!!!!
I think the colours on the flowers show up more on this first pic.

I used the smallest flowers to top the bow

Dies Used  -----
72.   JND065 Honesty Leaves
73.   JND066 Honesty Flowers

As I loved the ribbon so much I made another card.
I love this cute fairy image on very thick parchment.

I used the same spotty ribbon as on the previous cards, but in different colours.

*******
Another card using an LOTV topper which I cut using an XCut set of dies.
The backing paper is Phill Martins and I used a negative cut from Pierced Rectangles.

I used offcuts for the inside and a Pierced Oval diecut.

Dies Used -----
74.   XCut - XCU503044 Nesting Dies

Dies Challenge Day 22 & JND Advent Pop Box

Good Morning All

I love this box die from John.
It is a good size and you can decorate to your hearts content.
I did mine very quickly and just used afew of the dies that are included.
See the pic below to see how many dies you get in the box.
I used sturdy white card and the coloured card is some I bought whilst in New Zealand in 2007.
It is Paua Shell card, which is a shell native to New Zealand.
Very beautiful and they make jewelery from it.

You could even decorate the inside to make it really special.

This is the die, well worth buying if you can get hold of it.

These are all the extra dies you get aswell as the box die, obviously.

Dies Used  -----
45.   JND147 - Advent Pop Box

Dies Challenge Day 17 - JND Christmas Sentiments

Good Morning All

One thing about this Dies Challenge I am doing is that I am making quite afew Christmas cards.
These are using two of Johns Sentiments and Snowflake sets.
On this one the papers are from DOcrafts, topper from LOTV

This set from John has three sentiments in and they are all attached to a snowflake - so pretty.

I added afew gems to this one.
This is a Groovi Christmas tree and I added green glitter to parts of it to match the backing card.

This set of Johns comes with separate snowflakes and just one sentiment of
Happy Christmas.

This is another LOTV topper backed onto freebie papers from Making Cards magazine

Dies Used  ----
32.  JNDCC002 - Festive Greetings
33.   JNDCC003  -  Happy Snowflakes

Dies Challenge Day 9 & JND Heart Box

Good Morning All
John Next Door die today and it is his Heart box,
I initially bought this because you can make any shaped box with it as that is the way John designed it.
I cut it in Black and then a floral patterned piece for the top.
I must admit, it is a little bit fiddly but I am going to watch Johns Tutorial again and try making it a different shape too as I make lots of boxes for my Craft Club ladies.

The leafy swirl is one I got in a swap I think and then added some Spellbinder flowers, some twine and a sentiment tag.

Here is a link to Johns Craftalong on Hochanda when he demoed this die along with others.

Christmas Flowers for Allsorts.

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge time again and Mervi has picked a theme of

Christmas Flowers

I think this card looks quite opulent with the gold Mirri.
the Border die is from Crafters Companion I think.
I hid the join with some lovely sentiment ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.
I used Johns Poinsettia dies and stamps from last year and added a lovely gold centre to each one.

The Paperbox £15 store voucher is the prize on offer this week.
