About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Another Stick Pin book

Good Morning All
Here is another Stick Pin Fabric Book I made for the fayre last week.
I found  this gorgeous (sort of runner) in the charity shop for 2 euros for two.
I thought it was so pretty and edged with some lovely lace.

So I cut one from it. I have enough left to make afew more fabric books.

The pattern is ribbon threaded through the fabric to make the lovely flowers and leaves.

I added a piece of felt for the centre pages.
all edged with pink and white lace.

I added abit more lace across the middle.

Stick Pins added.
This is the other side of the felt page.

And this is the finished book with ribbon to tie closed.

I love making these, so satisfying for some reason.

Stick Pin Fabric book

Good Morning All

I made  a stick pin book to go on the stall last week but it didn't sell.
Although, overall I did very well, others didn't do too well, but I sell my cards so cheap, just to get rid of them really.  Better getting something instead of nothing.
I have lots of lace to be used and this is a perfect way of using it.
I really enjoy making these and have been making ribbon flowers too, as you saw on Monday.
(Tutorial at top of blog)

This is the inside before I added the pins.

I did quite well though so very pleased.
And a big Thank You to my crafty friend Val, who helped out before flying off to UK.

This wont be wasted as it will be a surprise gift for someone.

*******
Did you see John Next Door on Hochanda this week?
He was storing his stick pins on a heart shaped box like this.
This is one he made for me, and I still use it.
The pins are some of the first I made, aren't some of them  awful???

This was the original post HERE when he gave it to me before he moved to UK.
He is very good at sewing but I dont think he has as much time to play now.

Also, when I got up this morning the sky was an amazing colour, the pic doesn't do it justice.
It was so pink and grey, just beautiful, it changed in the few seconds it took me to get hold of my tablet.

and this is one day last week, another beauty.

Small Fabric Book

Good Morning All
I wanted to show you this small fabric book I made for a swap group that I am a member of on Facebook.
I was abit nervous of joining in with the swaps but the lady was really pleased with what I sent her.
A theme is set and then names are drawn for our partners and
we are given a date to post the parcel by.
Anyway, the swap was for snail mail, flip book or envelope book.
So I made an envelope book and filled each envelope with bits and bobs.
But I also included a fabric book with some stick pins in and other embellishments.

This is the front, it measured about 6 x 4"

This is the back.

Inside before pins added.
Crocheted doily that I made too.

I also added some of the embellishments I made and showed HERE

My swap partner loved it all.

I will show you what she sent me when I receive it.

On countdown now for UK visit, 2 weeks.

Anything Goes for Craft Rocket

Good Morning All
My first post today is for Craft Rocket Challenge and it is a nice easy (busy) one,
Anything Goes.

This is one of the first stick pin books I made, far from perfect but it works for me.
I still use this even though I made the bigger one I showed the other day, as this one is smaller and fits on my shelf behind my chair.

As you know, I love making these pins and the danglers to embellish my items and boxes etc and this is perfect for keeping them all together.
I made it using sheets of polystyrene, covered in bits from off cuts of curtains etc.
Some doilies, I have made, others have been cut from a tray cloth on an earlier post.

I have used alot of my larger beads to make decorations for altered items (too large for cards).
This is the back, all wrapped around with ribbon so that it can be tied together to close it.

Stick Pin Book

Good Morning All
I love making these books, similar to the one I had on offer as Candy.
As my Sister makes cards I decided to make one for her and I posted it last week.
She has now received it so I can show it on here.

The tag does say Happy Birthday , which it isn't but it had Sister on it.

This is the inside with lots of stick pins and embellishments
she can  use on her cards.

She loves pink and leopard print so this suits her.

I shall be seeing her later as I think she is picking me up from the Airport.
