Out Of This World!

Monday, 30 September 2013

Hello hello!

I hope you're all keeping well?  My flu is still here but a good bit better than I was last week.  I'm still coughing a lot, particularly at night which is annoying but hopefully it will disappear soon!

Time for a new challenge at Seems A Little Sketchy and our sponsor for this fortnight are My Grafico

They are offering one set up to $5 of winners choice

Here's our sketch for this challenge

And here is my card - we were given images by the sponsor to work with.

The cake and the little characters are all from My Grafico and were precoloured so I just had to print and cut them out.  I added the wording to the cake on the computer using a font called Sabrina.  I added some Glossy Accents to the aliens eyes - I was going to add some googly eyes, but I can't find them anywhere!  I have no idea where I put them!

The papers I have used are Bo Bunny from the Blast Off collection.  The glitter card is from a pack I bought in Tesco and the dies are Die-namics stacking stars and the shooting star is a Joanna Sheen Signature die.  I used a clear stardust pen over the sentiment so the light is making it hard to read in the picture - it says "Birthday wishes that are out of this world!".

The inside corresponds with the front with space to write on the cake.

So please take a look at what the rest of the DT have done at Seems A Little Sketchy and join in yourself!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

 Bearly Mine Challenges; Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge; Something blue
Charisma Cardz; Inside
Crafts 4 Eternity; Anything goes
Crafty Catz; Happy birthday
Crafty Creations Challenges; Split it up
Drunken Stampers; Die cuts
Papercrafting Journey; For a boy
Stamp & Create; Birthdays
The Squirrel & The Fox; Happy birthday

Thanks for looking!

Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane?...

Sunday, 19 May 2013

Hi everyone

I hope you're all keeping well?
My arm and shoulder are a lot better than they were a few days ago and I've been to the doctor about it and am getting it seen to.  Hopefully it won't be too long til I get an appointment with the specialist!

After such a lovely week weather-wise, yesterday was such a let-down!  But I made the good of the rain and had a pyjama day!  Bliss!

We have a new challenge at Eclectic Ellapu this week from the Pink Team!  It's another one for absolutely everyone - and we mean everyone, cos every craft is accepted!  The challenge is...

Anything Goes!

See, for everyone!

Here's what I did:

I made this to send off with the baby card I showed you last week, this is for Charlotte's big brother Joseph and I knew I wanted to use this image, I've had it for years and I don't think I've ever used it!  Its called Super Baby by Alota Stamps.  I coloured him with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20.  Clothes; B39,37,34,YG95,93,91,R39,29,24. Hair; E49,47,44,43.
I fussy-cut him out and attached him to the card on a thin strip of acetate, so he sits out as if he's flying!

The papers are Blast Off by Bo Bunny.  I used a Spellbinder Star Circles die for the comet (I suppose you could call it a comet!) and also cut a star out of that paper to go behind the boy.  The ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment was computer generated and stuck on with foam pads.

The inside matches the front.

And there you have it!  Go take a look at the fantastic inspiration from the rest of the DT, including all our new Pinkies, at Eclectic Ellapu.  I do hope you'll join us!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge Blog; True Blue
Charisma Cardz Challenge: No Digi's allowed
Craft Your Passion Challenge; Child's Play
QKR Stampede; Children's card
Ruby's Rainbow; Squares (my card is square)

Thanks for looking!

First Day Of School!

Saturday, 15 September 2012

Afternoon all!

Hasn't it gotten so cold?!  I can't seem to be able to get warmed up at all - I'm sitting at my computer wearing a coat! lol!  The evenings are fairly dropping down too, we're heading for winter!

I remember when I was young sitting in the classroom at the start of a new year, wearing my brand-new uniform with the stiff collar digging into my neck and the jumper that could stand up on its own and the sun beaming in through the floor-to-ceiling window and the sweat lashing me!  This September seems to be a bit different to a few years ago, the weather has been horrible for the start of the new school year.

My gorgeous nephew had his first day of Primary School last week so I thought I'd make him a wee card;

The image is by Lili of the Valley and is called Back to School Boy.  I coloured it in the colours of the Primary school uniform using the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Uniform; G99,YG97,67,Y19,17,15. Shoes; 100,W9,7,5. Bag; E37,35,33. Hair; E55,53,51. Plus W3,1,00,Y00.

The blackboard paper is from the Prima: Romance Novel pad and the green one is from the Bo Bunny: Blast Off pad.  I used Spellbinder dies - Star circles, standard circles large and petite ovals large and a star Cuttlebug embossing folder.
The sentiment is computer generated and the stars are from the Spellbinder Star Circles set - the large one is a die on its own and the small ones are some of the bits out of the mat under the image.  The name on the stars is hand written.  The SEI twiney-ribbony stuff is from my stash.

The inside is following the layout from the front and the sentiment is from LOTV.

I used this particular mat to follow on from what I made for him to give to his Play School teachers when he was leaving at the end of last year and I never managed to blog them, so here they are now:

The sentiment on the "lollipop" is computer generated and the one on the tag was hand written by Ryan himself!  The ladybirds are ones I bought in Australia and the ribbon is that most-used ribbon from my stash!

And here he is with the whole set!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:
Bearly Mine Challenges; Anything goes
By The Cute & Girly; Boys/men
Crafts 4 Eternity; Numerical Numbers
Crafty Boots Challenges; One (and I'm now singing the U2 song!)
Divas By Design; For a child

Papertake Weekly; Things that make you go aww!
Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog; Numbers
Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog; Back to school

Mother's Day

Friday, 23 March 2012

Morning all!

Another Friday has come to greet us all too fast!  But as well as the weekend, every fortnight it means we get a new challenge at the Alphabet Challenge Blog!

Thanks to everyone for joining in with my challenge last time!

This time we're at the letter D and my ex-teamie, Janet, chose the theme

D for Dry Embossing!

So get out your embossing folders, boards or maybe even your light boxes and get creative!

Here's my card - which I gave to my mum for Mother's Day

The image is from LOTV called Teddy With Bouquet.  I coloured it with the following copics - Flowers; RV06,04,02,R29,27,24,B02,00,0000,YG07,05,03,97,95,93.  Wrapper; RV13,11,10.  Paper; E43,41.  Bear; E37,35,33.  I added swarovski crystals to the centre's of some of the flowers.

The paper is K & Co - Gothic Rose glitter paper, which I've had for ages, and Bo Bunny Love Bandit Bee Mine.
The sentiments are also LOTV from the Postmarks set.  I triple embossed them with UTEE and added a Swarovski to the centres.  They were cut out with a nestie.
The panel across the centre is a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the gorgeous flower is a Prima one.

The inside mimics the front

So head over to the Alphabet Challenge Blog to see what wonderful creations my teamies have come up with!

Thanks for looking!

Paper Roses

Sunday, 10 April 2011

I went to a pub quiz last night – my second pub quiz ever, and the first one was years ago! The rest of my team was made up of my mum, 2 sisters and my friend. With extremely low expectations, we were delighted to come third! And with the top 2 teams breaking the rules by having 7 & 8 people on their teams :O – rather than the 5 in the rules – we really won!! As it was for charity though, they were allowed to keep their positions, so we were gracious in defeat. To their faces anyway! Lol

I then got up early this morning to watch the grand prix in Malaysia. It was a really good race and I was delighted to see Nick Heidfeld on the podium – He’s one of the drivers that I met a couple of years ago, so I have a wee soft spot for him!

Anyway, I was asked to make an anniversary card, I think I may have mentioned it before, but I struggle with anniversary cards for some reason – I’m putting it down to the fact that one half of the recipient is a man! So totally ignoring that fact, I went very pink with this one!

Photobucket

I used the fabby Rose Heart from Sketching Stamper, coloured with my copics. I added some Swarovski crystals for a bit of bling.

Photobucket

Just a wee note here, I don’t know if it’s just me, but sometimes I love the effect you get on the back of an image after you’ve coloured it, I thought this one was lovely!

Photobucket

The papers I used were Bo Bunny, Love Bandit and Pink Petticoat, pretty doodles. A few pink pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts some pink satin ribbon to finish off.

Photobucket

I brought the fancy tags element from the front through to the inside along with the same papers.

Photobucket

I don’t usually make cards to stand like this so thought I’d do it this time to be a bit different. Then I discovered that it was too heavy and kept collapsing! I was just about to tear it off to re-do it when I had an idea – I ran some power pritt stick down the edges of the card where it would be standing. I let it dry before I stood it up and it gave the edges a rubberised sort of feel, so it didn’t slip when I stood it up. It worked a treat! So there’s a wee tip for you!

Photobucket

Quite a few challenges this time:

Anything Goes Challenge Blog; Pearls

A Spoonful of Sugar; Tons of Texture – the ribbon and the card – also I think the roses on the image give the effect of texture.

Charisma Cardz Challenges; Weddings/Anniversary’s

CLP; Sketch

Creative Inspirations; Punches & Dies

My Partner in Crafting Crime; Layer it up

Papertake Weekly Challenge; Anything Goes

Happy Mother's Day!

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mummies out there! I’m a little late in saying it here, but it’s been a busy day. My brother, sisters and I got a lovely pamper day for my mum and my sister got one as well, I came up with the idea to do that so I could go too - genius or what?!!

I had a busy weekend tidying my craft room and I didn’t realise just how overdue it was for a good tidy up until I came across my Christmas papers! Lol! To be fair, I purposely didn’t put them away cos I thought I’d make some Christmas cards, but I just don’t have the heart for it at the moment so they're all away now!

Anyway, this is the card I made for my mum...

Photobucket

I followed a fab tutorial on Heather’s blog on how to make shadow box cards.

I filled my box with hand-made wound-up roses, which I added a Swarovski crystal bead and some glitter. The glitter went on a little gloopy, but I think I quite like it - it looks a little like rain!

Photobucket

You can see the depth of the box here

Photobucket

The paper is Bo Bunny from the Vickie B paper pad. The sentiment is from a Kraftin’ Kimmie set and I added some Wild Orchid Crafts pearls to the corners.

Photobucket

I used the same papers on the inside

Photobucket

And finished it off in a matching box (I’ve been practicing tying bows, but I’m still not very good at it! And I have trimmed the ends of the bow since I took the photo.)

Photobucket

This card fits the following challenges:

Allsorts; Blooming Blossoms

Charisma Cardz Challenges; Bling & Sparkles

Delightful Challenges; Flowers

Oh La La Creations; Mother’s Day/ Special Friend

Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog; Spring Blossoms

Stampin’ for the Weekend; For Mum/Mother’s Day (not too much stamping on this one – just the sentiments on the front and the inside)

ABC Challenge; R is for Roses
