Always With The Last Minute!

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

 Hi all!

I hope you're having a nice evening?  The rain was fairly pelting it down there a while ago, but it seems to have settled again...for now!

I hope all you mummy's out there (the maternal kind rather than the bandaged up kind!) had a nice day yesterday and were suitably spoiled!  My Mummy was away for a few days in Geneva (with Daddy!) and arrived back home again on Sunday evening so didn't get her spoiling til then.  It's a good thing too, cos I didn't even start making her Mother's Day card until 5 o'clock on Sunday evening!!  I don't know why I always leave things to the last minute!!

It wasn't for a DT challenge blog this time so no info to tell at the start for a change!

Here it is...

The image and sentiment was a freebie from the lovely Teri at Delicious Doodles, I got it from her Facebook group but I think she also has it on her website.  I coloured the roses with the following copics:  R22,21,00. YG97,95,93.  I painted over the wording with a glittery ink that I got from Stampin' Up! in the colour Champagne Mist.

I used some MME papers for the background from the Up & Away pad.  I used lots of dies... Spellbinder Decorative Labels 8 and Curved Rectangles mega nestabilities for the sentiment/image. Cheery Lynn Designs; Mini Fanciful Flourish.  Magnolia; Swirl Doohickey and Impression Obsession dies for the smallest rolled flowers.  The bigger rolled roses I cut by hand.  I sprinkled some Frantage embossing powder on the papers and heated from underneath for that speckledy (new word!) effect.

I also rubbed the roses in Versamark and frantaged the edges of some of them and I used holographic embossing powder on some others.

The inside has paper from the same pad and the sentiment is computer generated using the font Penshurst, which matches the image/sentiment on the front.  It also got the glittery ink treatment.

And that's my card.  I also made a box for it, but it was so simple I didn't bother photographing it - it just had a sheet of matching paper stuck to the lid - last minute, see!
I hope you like it, I was quite pleased that it actually turned out something like what I was imagining and my Mummy seemed to like it, even if she did have to be careful cos the glue was still wet!! lol!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

All Sorts Challenge Blog: Use those dies
Crafts 4 Eternity; Special Mums
Creative Inspirations; It's a girl thing

Friday, 25 October 2013

Hi everyone!

This is my second post today, make sure you check out my earlier post of the Christening card I made for my gorgeous wee nephew!

It's a new challenge day today at the Alphabet Challenge Blog and it was my turn to choose a theme and I chose...

S for Scary!

Appropriate for this time of year!  It's also a lovely change for me from making baby cards! lol!  (there are 2 more due in the next few weeks!)

Here's my card:

The image is called Abby by Lacy Sunshine and I coloured her with the following copics:  Skin;E21,00,0000,R20. Hair;E39,33,YR21,18,14. Dress;B95,93,91,100,C9,6. Chair;100,W9,7,5,3,1. Eyes;BV31,04,0000. Floor;100,C10,9,8. Wall;E30.

The papers are My Minds Eye; Mischievous.  I used glittery black card with the Creepy Web die by Memory Box and the image is die cut with Spellbinders circle and labels 3.  I used an Anthracite Viva pearl pen for the black pearls.  The spider charm is from my stash.

The inside has been done to match the front with a Waltzing Mouse sentiment from the Halloween Party set.

So that's my scary card, I hope you will be able to join us this fortnight at the Alphabet Challenge Blog - pop over to see loads more fangtastic inspiration from the rest of the DT!

Her Arrangement Is Better Than Mine

Sunday, 25 August 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?
I had my appointment about my shoulders last week and I have to go back to physio.  If that doesn't work I'll need injections, so I really hope the physio works as I hate needles!  It's good to know what it is that's wrong though and not to think that it's just in my head!

How about a new challenge?  A new one up today at Eclectic Ellapu and the Pink Team!  Our pinkie hosting this week is Laurian and it's her birthday in a few days - Happy Birthday Laurian!  So she has chosen the theme...

An Oldies Birthday!

I took this to mean that it's an older persons birthday, rather than a childs.
So here's my card...

Doing Rachael's card put me in the notion of colouring Saturated Canaries, I love colouring them!  This one is called Maxine The Florist and I coloured her with the following copics:  Skin;E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair:E44,43,40. Clothes and flowers:BG49,45,B95,93,91.R24,22,21.RV34,32.Y17,15,13. Leaves;YG97,95,93. Stool;E39,37,35,29. Ground;E35,33,30. Background;B00,000,0000. plus black and brown prisma pencils.

The papers are MME "Sky's the limit" and the sentiment is by LOTV.  The flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I think I need more practice at doing arrangements of flowers, I don't do them very often and I don't really like how this one turned out.

The inside is done to compliment the front with another LOTV sentiment.

So there you go.  Please take a peek at what the rest of the DT have done over at Eclectic Ellapu and spread some love for Laurian on her birthday by having a go yourself!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion Challenges; Summer Flowers
Crafty Sentiments Challenges; Colourful
Drunken Stampers; Party Planner - a celebration
A Gem of A Challenge; Anything with a B - Blooms, bright
Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog; Girls, girls, girls
Papercrafting Journey; Anything goes
Papertake Weekly; Flower power
QKR Stampede; Anything goes
Top Tip Tuesday; Initials - S for Saturated Canary & F for Flowers

Thanks for looking - and if you haven't seen it yet, don't miss out on my blog candy!

Just Clowning Around!

Monday, 24 June 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well.  Back to work this morning after a busy weekend.  I was doing a little bit of cleaning yesterday and while I was dusting in my sitting room a very bright light suddenly shone in through my window - it totally scared the life outta me!  It turns out it was only sun had found a tiny little hole in the clouds to break through and it decided to shine on me!  Just shows you how little the sun comes out here though when it scared me so much!

You're probably wondering why I posting at this time on a Monday morning - and I'm gonna shed a little light on it for you now (do you see what I did there? Lol!)
I've joined another challenge blog design team!!  I was delighted to be asked by the lovely Mari to join the Seems A Little Sketchy design team!  I love working with sketches but don't get to do it very often, so here's my very first post!

This fortnight we are sponsored by the fabulous Sweet 'n' Sassy!

And here's the fab sketch we have to work with:

I turned the sketch clockwise for my card and here it is...

The fabby images were supplied by Sweet 'n' Sassy and I coloured them with the following copics: E21,00,0000,R20,BG13,11,10,R08,05,02,YR09,07,04,Y15,13,11,C7,5,4,BG13,11,10.  The clown was holding a bunch of balloons, but I cut them loose so as he could do a bit of juggling instead!

The papers are My Minds Eye, Sky's The Limit and Up & Away.  The circus posters also came out of the paper pack.

I used the basic sketch on the inside too, along with another Sweet 'n' Sassy image.

So that's my card.  Why don't you "roll up" over to the Seems A Little Sketchy blog and check out what the rest of my new teamies have done!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Crafts 4 Eternity; Spots and stripes
Creative Inspirations; for a child
Here Come The Boys; Let's go dotty
My Heart Pieces; Use a digi stamp
My Time To Craft Challenges; Spots and stripes
Sweetpea Stampers; For the children

Let's Call It A Mid-Week Reminder!

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?
For those inquiring about my cousin, he performed brilliantly in the final on Friday night, but the competition was so tight that he didn't win.  He wasn't too disappointed though and it was such a brilliant experience - there's no stopping him now!

We had a fantastic weekend away to celebrate my mum turning 60 last month.  She was so surprised about all the people who came along to celebrate with us - my aunt even came over from the US to join us!  And on Saturday night my little cousin (see above!) and my uncle entertained us all into the wee small hours!  We've all been knackered ever since! lol!

And as I was away for the weekend I didn't get to post about the new Pink Team challenge at Eclectic Ellapu, so I'll add my DT entry now and call it a mid-week reminder! lol!

The lovely Dawn is hosting this week and she has chosen the theme of...

It's In The Stars!

A difficult one I think with a brief of signs of the Zodiac/Horoscopes/Astrology.  Well, I found it difficult anyway!

Here's what I did:

I didn't know where to start and then I found this fab image - Catleya Tangleberry by Lacy Sunshine - and I thought she looked a little mystical!  I coloured her with the following copics:  Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair: E29,39,37,35. Clothes: YG97,95,93,91,V17,15,12. Books: E37,35,33,31,30  And I used a gold metallic pen for the rims of her glasses and on the books.

The papers are MME Mischievous and Basic Grey Eerie.  I used lots of starry dies: Spellbinder Star Circles (plus a plain circle), X-Cut Nesting Stars & Dienamics Stacking Stars.
The sentiment is computer generated with the oddly named font: Kingsthings Flashbang.

I hand-drew the symbols of the Signs of the Zodiac onto the different sized stars following this chart that I got off t'internet.

The inside is done to compliment the front and using the Stampin' Up! Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set for the sentiment.

So go take a look at what the rest of the DT have done at Eclectic Ellapu and have a go yourself - I'd love to see what you do!

There is also a DT-Call open at the moment for another week or so, so why not put your name down and join in the fun?!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles Challenges; Colour combo - brown & green
Movie Magic Monthly; Harry Potter - I'm thinking of Professor Sybil Trelawny here.
One Stitch At A Time; Use a digi stamp
Paper Crafting Journey; Use a sentiment
QKR Stampede; Punches or dies
Stamp & Create; At least 1 die-cut

Tequila!

Tuesday, 19 February 2013

Hi everyone,  I'm late again but I didn't get time to schedule my post last night and have been at work all day so just getting to it now.  I'm even putting off playing with a few new Copics that arrived today so I better get cracking!

Another challenge at the Creative Card Crew and another sponsored by The Scrapping Center

They're offering one lucky winner a $15 gift voucher for their fab store!  To be in with a chance all you have to do is enter the easy peasy challenge of...

Birthdays!

Probably the next easiest challenge after anything goes, so I can see a busy fortnight of commenting on the horizon!

I actually made my card a while ago but here's what I did

I used the fantastic image from Bugaboo called Tequila!  and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Dress; B05,02,01. Hair; E39,35,33. Boots; YR04,02,01.  I left a bit of a border around her when I cut her out as I didn't fancy cutting around those stilettos!  I attached her to the card at a wonky angle to emphasise the effect of said Tequila! lol!  Oh, and I added a few swarovski's to her hair as she's obviously dressed to be out on the town!

The papers are MME Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink.  The banner was made with a Stampin' Up punch and the same papers, and I threaded some Typo bakers twine throught it.
The sentiment is a LOTV clear sentiment and I added the 21 with some wee cheapo stamps I've had for ages and it was cut out with nesties.

The inside has more papers from the same stack and compliment the front and I've also used the fab sentiment that came with the image!

I made this card for my cousin and it turned out to be quite an accurate representation of how things went! lol!

So go and take a peek at the rest of the DT's fab creations at the Creative Card Crew and I'm sure I'll see you there!

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Bearly Mine Challenges: Lace, Ribbon, Twine

Tickets.... Grrr!

Friday, 15 February 2013

Good morning!

I've just spent almost an hour trying to get tickets to see the Scottish comedian Billy Connolly.  I thought I was doing well to start with as I got onto the site, got my tickets selected and entered my payment details.  And then... CRASH!  The flippin site went down!  And then it was impossible to get back on it, even to find out if my purchase went through.  So after 45 minutes of refreshing the page with one hand and re-dialling with the other I finally got onto the page and got tickets booked for another night.  So at least I know I'm going now, maybe even twice!

On another note, I've been in total shock about Oscar Pistorius.  You may have noticed that I have pictures of him in my side-bar as I've been a fan for a long time.  I just hope that the right result comes from this terrible incident.  There are just so many questions.

Anyway, it's time for another challenge at the Alphabet Challenge Blog and the challenge for the next fortnight, which was chosen by our lovely Jan, is...

A for Anything With Wings!

So back at the start of the alphabet with a fab challenge!

Here's what I did:

The image is Daisy Butterfly by Whimsy Stamps and I coloured it with the following Copics: E55,53,51,40,39,37,35,YR24,23,21,16,14,RV34,32,10.  I then used Glamour dust around the edges of the butterfly.  I used the out of the box technique to cut out the image with a Spellbinder die and I twirled some wire to add to the top of the wings.  Lot's of Swarovski crystals to bling it up!

The papers I have used are MME Indie Chic.  I used Grand Nestibilities - Grand Labels 23 for the card base and Fancy Framed Tags 1 for the sentiment.  The sentiment is a Waltzing Mouse stamp from the Fancy Phrases set.  And I couldn't resist a few more Swarovski's and pearls!  I didn't take a pic of the inside as it is quite plain.

So pop over to the Alphabet Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the DT did.

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

613 Avenue Create; Sketch
Bunny Zoe's Crafts; Flowers & pearls
Charisma Cardz Challenges; Anything goes
Daring Cardmakers; Fly fly butterfly
Deep Ocean Challenge Blog; The letter B - for butterfly
One Stitch At A Time: Anything goes
Southern Girls Challenge Blog; Bling it on
Sweet Stampin'; Pearls & swirls

Twice In One Day!

Sunday, 6 January 2013

Well, it's 11:30pm when I started typing so I hope it'll make it into today!

I was lucky enough to be picked as a top 3 in one of Quirky Crafts challenges  before Christmas and got the opportunity to join them as a guest designer!  I jumped at the chance as I was disappointed that I wasn't able to join them when the same opportunity came up just when I had my accident.
Imagine my panic when I switched on my computer on Saturday after it being off for 2 weeks to see that I had an email from the lovely Cazzy with the details of the new new challenge and I was already late submitting it!
So I fired off an email to see if I was too late and Cazzy replied nice and quickly and was lovely about me being late and I was still OK.  So I printed out the fabby image she supplied from one of their sponsors for this week - Bugaboo stamps no less!  And the challenge is:

Some Thing New, with Pink!

Like a busy bee I coloured and cut and stuck and glued and this is what I came up with:

The image is Just Married by Bugaboo and I coloured it with the following promarkers: Skin: Sunkissed pink, Oatmeal, Blush, Pastel pink.  Car; Pumpkin, Amber, Apricot.  Bumper & suit; Petrol blue, Marine, Turquoise.  Heart etc; Cerise, Baby pink, Pale pink.  Tyres etc; Black, Ice grey 5,3,1.
I printed the image out 3 times and 3D'd it up for lots of dimension. (and the glue gel seems to have seeped through the image unfortunately :(  )

The papers are My Minds Eye, Tickled Pink.  I used a Spellbinder lg circle die to cut out the image and I then used a small circle punch to punch out lots of cerise and blue circles for the border around the image, finishing it off with a few gems.  The sentiment is computer generated and highlighted with a clear Sakura Stardust pen.

The inside compliments the front with scalloped dies and Memory Box Simple Banner die-cuts to match.  Again, the sentiment is computer generated.

So that's my card!  A huge thank you to Cazzy for putting up with me and to the Quirky Crafts Challenge blog for having me as a guest designer!  Short and sweet but I really enjoyed it!

Flowers Always Make You Feel Better!

Friday, 16 November 2012

Morning!

Hasn't it been very mild over the past few days?  I was roasting at work yesterday, but I'm sure it won't last too long - we'll be shivering before you know it!

I was back at the physio yesterday and had another session of acupuncture.   It hurt a bit more this time but it really worked wonders last week for my trip to Birmingham so fingers crossed that it will keep working!  I also asked her if there was anything I/she could do about the Bells Palsy.  She said I could keep on doing funny faces - I wasn't aware I was doing funny faces before that! lol!  Apart from that I just need to ride it out.  So I can only hope that it won't last too long.

Anyway, it's time for a new challenge at the Alphabet Challenge Blog and this fortnight the challenge we have for you is...

U for Under the weather!

So it's that time of year again for sniffles and coughs or even any other ailments (like whiplash and Bells Palsy!) so we want to see plenty of cards that make people feel better!

Here's what I did:

My image is Teddy with Bouquet by LOTV which I coloured with the following Copics: Bear;E37,35,33,29. Flowers;R39,37,59,RV34,32,10,E41,40,YR02,YG67,45,41,W7,5. And Dark brown and Black Prisma pencils.

The papers are MME Indie Chic and the sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse.  I used Spellbinder dies to cut all the shapes including the pretty corners which are made by quartering a die cut and inversing the shapes.  I then used a corner rounder punch on the corners.
A few Swarovski's and two different ribbons from my stash finish it off.

The inside mirrors the front and the sentiment verse is by LOTV.

So let us see what you make by entering the Alphabet Challenge Blog and you'll be able to see loads more fab inspiration over there too!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Divas By Design; Anything goes
Dream Valley Challenges; Anything goes
Fab N Funky Challenges; Lets see those bears
My Heart Pieces; Anything cute
Oldie But A Goodie; Anything but Christmas
One Stop Craft Challenge; Anything goes

How Arrrrr Ye Doin'?

Tuesday, 14 August 2012

Morning everyone!

Can you believe I'm on to my second challenge as a DT member on the Creative Card Crew challenge blog?!
And can you believe the Olympics are over?!  A thoroughly enjoyable couple of weeks and I can't wait for the Paralympics!  I'm looking forward to seeing the yummy Oscar Pistorious again anyway! lol!  That's not the only reason I've loved the Olympics though.  I think it's amazing what some people are able to do.  I watched the women's mountain biking on Saturday and it's astonishing how fit they must be to be able to go non-stop, on that terrain, for an hour and a half - and still have the energy to lift the bike over their head at the end!  Amazing!  I can only imagine how astonishing the Paralympics are going to be!

Now, back to the challenge...
We're being sponsored this fortnight by the fabulous Simon Says Stamp

They're offering a $20 gift voucher to the lucky winner!

And to win that fabby prize all you have to do is create something using...

Maps/Newsprint or Sheet music!

So I'm looking forward to seeing some gorgeous works of art this fortnight!

Here's what I did;

The image is by Kraftin Kimmie and she's called Alicia Strawberry Pirate.  I coloured her with my promarkers (which are available at Simon Says Stamp): Skin; Sunkissed pink, Oatmeal, Blush, Pastel pink. Dress; Midnight blue, Petrol blue, Marine, Henna, Terracotta, Cinnamon, Mulberry, Fuchsia pink, Rose pink. Hair & Sword; Black, Warm grey 5,4,3. Skulls; Morning mist.  And some clear stardust pen to finish.

The papers are DCWV, "Treasure Map" from the Once Upon A Time set, a Daisy D's paper and "The Spiders Web" by MME.  I used a distressing tool around the map to get it well worn looking and used Walnut Distress ink around it to dirty it up (also available at SSS)  The sentiment is computer generated and the font is "Black Adder".

The ribbon, charms, gems and metal corner are all from my stash.  The image was cut out using a Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles die.

And the inside looks like this:

And thar's me carrd!  I hope's ye be likin it.  Arrr!

Ahem...Go and have a look at the rest of the DT's fantastic work and join in with the challenge at the Creative Card Crew.

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:
