Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Day and Fox in Socks Day!

We created our own Cat in the Hats and graphed our favorite color. We liked blue the best and yellow and purple the least and no one liked orange!

On Fox in Socks Day we wore silly socks and created our silly socks on paper. Then we sorted our silly socks and created a graph to show whether we wore them or not.

Dr. Seuss Story Time in the Library!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday today, our wonderful librarian/instructional technologist dressed like him and read some of his books to our Kindergartner's. She is awesome and the kids love her!

What is You Favorite Dr. Seuss Book?

To end our study of Dr. Seuss, we created a real object graph using our bodies to tell which Dr. Seuss book was our favorite.  Then we created a graph on paper to show the results.

A Great Day for Up

To begin our celebration of letter U, we read A Great Day For Up. Then we created a bubble map of things that can go up. The students created their own hot air balloon and completed the sentence frame A ______ can go up using the bubble map for ideas. Can is also one of our word wall words this week so it worked perfectly.

Dr. Suess ABC's

We read Dr. Seuss' ABC's. I assigned each student a letter or letters and they wrote and drew things that start with their letter.

Wacky Wednesday

To continue our Dr. Seuss Week, we had Wacky Wednesday. We read Wacky Wednesday and To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street. We dressed wacky and we drew what we could see on the way to school on Camp Wisdom Rd.

Dr. Suess Green Day!

Today we wore green clothes and read Green Eggs and Ham and Bartholomew and the Oobleck. We made green eggs and tasted them and constructed a graph to tell if we liked them or not. Surprisingly to me, we only had 2 students that did not like them. Then in the afternoon, we made Oobleck with our 2nd grade reading buddies in the Science Lab.

Dr. Suess Hat Day!

We started our Dr. Seuss week this week. Today we had Hat day. We read The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. To review and identify nouns, we made a tree map of people, places and things from the book. Then, I had the students illustrate one of the nouns from the story. I thought they did I great job and this activity kept their attention better since this is one of Dr. Seuss longer books.

For Math today we enjoyed reading One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and using rainbow goldfish to sort count and add the colors together.
