Shark Week at Comic Con!

Shark Week is a big holiday at Pixar and my friends and I usually exchange cards. Since the world's greatest animal-themed holiday is just around the corner, I figured I'd print up a bunch of cards to share with Comic Con attendees.

If you love cold-blooded oceanic killing machines as much as I do, swing by Booth 1943 and pick up a set!

CosPlayoffs at SDCC Booth 1943!

Everybody knows that the best things about Comic Con are cosplay, commissioned art, and free stuff. So Bobby Rubio, Everett Downing and I decided to combine the three! Stop by 1943 to show-off your costume. If you impress us, we'll each do a free caricature of you in costume and you'll get a complimentary Cosplayoff postcard for participating. You can't beat the price!

Please, no Shreks.

Darth Vader 03

Do you want to know how he got those scars?  Unfortunately, you'll have to watch a shitty movie to find out.

SDCC 2013!

I'll be sharing a booth with mi amigos, Everett Downing & Bobby Rubio, at San Diego Comic Con next week!

Thanks to Bobby, we have an amazing location: right across from Sideshow Collectibles! I'll be staring at life-sized T-850s all day long.

We have so many goodies for sale that I'll be high-lighting a new item each day till Comic Con. Wherever there are back-issues, you will find us. Wherever people are camping out for a film panel, we'll be there! Olé!

TR!CKST3R 2013

TR!CKSTER 3 is a go! Anyone attending the San Diego Comic Con this Summer can find respite from the nerd hordes, refuel with a cocktail, and slap the ten-pins with us at East Village Tavern & Bowl. We'll be at 930 Market St, San Diego CA July 17-20th.

For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, TR!CKSTER is a retail space specializing in creator-owned properties including fine art prints, toys, clothing, and limited edition books. The most recent of which, I am proud to say, is the brainchild of Everett Downing (365 Supers), Bobby Rubio (Alcatraz High), and myself: CHILDHOOD HEROES.

Childhood Heroes is a graphic novel anthology exploring the earliest creations of professional artists from the comic and animation industries. The volume will include my own childhood hero, Fryd, so be sure to check it out!

TR!CKSTER will be open late into the night, long after the convention hall closes, so swing by and join us for a round! You can also follow TR!CKSTER on twitter at @thetrickstore, or subscribe to their website, trickstertrickster.com!

Chades Challenge LXVI: Time-Traveling Comic Con Attendees

Sorry for the delay, folks. My flux capacitor was jammed. If you have any fourth-dimensional SDCCers, let me know and I'll post them below. Everyone and anyone is welcome to contribute! If you missed this week's challenge, you can join us August 10th for...

CHADES CHALLENGE LXVII:
SPIDER-MAN'S NEW SIDEKICK
(This month Marvel is giving Spider-man his very own sidekick, Alpha. Guy's got a pretty generic design, if you ask me. I think we can do better--what say you??)

And one more from the "Rejection" story challenge a couple weeks back, from Martin "The Martian" O'Neill:

Bravery at Comic Con

There isn't a Brave comic (yet), but that didn't prevent our little movie from having quite the presence at the world's largest comic convention! I did my best to snap a pic with every Merida I crossed paths with, and even spotted a wee Merida from the film's prologue!

I even took a moment to enjoy a Kilt Friday at the local Tilted Kilt!

If you have any Brave pics from Comic Con, please leave a note in the comments below!

SDCC Yearbook

I brought a moleskine to Comic Con this year.

The initial idea was to sketch the local wildlife.

When I ran into Doug TenNapel, I offered him a sketch trade.

Doug happily agreed! I asked him to illustrate the theme "Comic Con". This beauty is what he came up with:

I loved the sketch so much, I decided to offer my moleskine to other friends/heroes of mine to see their take on the theme. Before long, I had a yearbook of amazing artwork. Here are a few samples!

Cory Walker's sketch wasn't actually in the sketchbook, it was a commission my girlfriend got for me. Between the yearbook and the commission, it was a damn good year for SDCC souvenirs!
