SBC Fest Day 2 inspiration - Thanks floral card

Hi everyone! I have a fun card to share. This weekend was the 5th annual SBC Fest hosted by Scrapbook.com. SBC Fest is a 2-day virtual papercrafting event with card making and scrapbooking classes by some of your favorite crafty instructors like Simon Hurley, Kristie Marcotte, Jamie Pate and more! The class videos are available FOREVER so if you can watch them any time at your convenience.
Here is a link to the SBC Fest page which shows each instructor, their class supplies list, and class homework. This is my 3rd year and I love to watch and play along with products I have in my stash.

As an affiliate, SBC gave me early access to the instructors cards and after seeing their projects and checking the class supply lists, I was excited to see I had the all the die sets that Erin Thompson used in her class! And you know I love me a floral die cut card. Be sure to catch her class on the replay! 💖
Here is my card inspired by her wonderful class project
SUNNY LANE FLORAL AND THANK YOU SENTIMENTS DIE SETS

I kept the basic layout of her card, sentiment and general flower placement. I changed out the papers used and I added patterned papers along with solids for my floral die cuts. I also changed the background to be white cardstock embossed by the Tiny Dots folder and went with silver instead of gold for my arches.
I think it's pretty amazing that Scrapbook.com puts on a free 2 day virtual event. I consider myself a seasoned card maker and I learn LOTS of tips and tricks with every class I watch. If you find yourself wanting to purchase any of the class supplies, be sure to use the code SBCFEST5 at checkout for 10% off.
AND add those freebies too! Here are 2 of the 4 freebies offered right now!
TIP: add the freebies one at a time. Once in your cart, add 1 freebie, then leave the cart and go back in and add the next.

Hello Floral card

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing another card using the new Spotlight Frames and Florals collection designed Lisa Horton for Spellbinders and the Bayfair collection by Rosie's Studios. I love both of these collections, you can see my other projects using them HERE, HERE and HERE.
STITCHED EDGE CIRCLE BACKGROUND AND FLORAL SPRAY DIE SETS

These lovely flower blooms are from the Floral Spray die set, and I die cut them in purples with pale green leaves and a soft yellow for the centers.
The card base and main panel are die cut using the Nested Postage Labels & Tag die set which I see as a MUST HAVE basic set for your die collection!
The fabulous sentiment is from the A Little Hello Sentiments stamp and die set which is a stamp and die set. The Hello has 2 layering shadow dies (I used 1) and there are 7 coordinating sentiment stamps each with an outline die!

CRAFT-A-FLOWER: SULFUR COSMOS DIE SET

My card uses the gorgeous Sulfer Cosmos die set which is part of their Craft-A-Flower series. I looked up Sulfer Cosmo flowers and found out they are rich yellows, oranges and red colors. They are stunning!
I die cut the flowers and leaves from Bristol Smooth cardstock and ink blended colors on them. After I inked the petals and assembled the flowers, I used glitter brush markers to give a rich shimmer and dimension to them. I also added shimmer to the sentiment and leaves.
The background is the Circle Quilt Cover die cut from black cardstock adhered to a black card base. I added a couple Amber clear drops accents.
I don't make cards with black backgrounds often, but I love how this turned out!

This card uses a few of the blooms set on some fun patterned papers from the Bayfair 6x6 pad. I chose the ink colors to match the papers. The background is white cardstock embossed with the Gingham embossing folder.
My second card adds a couple more of the blooms with small strips of the same patterned paper.
These funky blooms are so fun!

Fresh Picked Vase Just Because card

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a fun card from the Fresh Picked collection by Spellbinders. This month Spellbinders released 3 die sets to this collection, this is the first time I've used a die set from this collection and I just love how it turned out.
FRESH PICKED VASE BOUQUET

The die set is called Fresh Picked Vase Bouquet and it's designed to fill the entire card front of an A2 sized card. The sentiment is from the new Curved Everyday Sentiments Glimmer. I love the variety of sentiments in this set. I glimmered a variety of colors to keep in my stash so I can grab and adhere.
I used a color combination from the Color Cube Volume 2 and I just love how the colors pop together.
To create the detailing in the vase, I die cut a second vase then embossed it with the Leafy Helix embossing folder. Then I trimmed a strip near the bottom and adhered Champagne Glitter cardstock to both sides. For the details along the top I used the tiny flower centers. I just love the extra wow factor the glitter cardstock adds!

Supplies used on this card:
Black Glossy cardstock
Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors (background splatter)

Before I go, check out the Spring Warehouse Sale going on now by Spellbinders!  This is their BIGGEST sale of the year, so don't miss it! Deals start at $1, plus

Pretty Pink Peonies card

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing one last card from the Let's Celebrate collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders. In case you missed my other cards showcasing this release you can check them out HERE and HERE and HERE. This entire collection is so lovely you should check it out!
PEONY CELEBRATION DIE SET

My card uses the Peony Celebration die set from the collection and I used the Fluted Circles die set for the background. I added a strip of black and white stripes patterned paper edged with a 1/8" strip of black cardstock to give the peony a nice contrast.
I used vellum for my peony outline because I wanted something solid to adhere the peony die cut pieces to, and have it blend in with the background. I love the effect of using vellum! I used white cardstock for the outline and leaves and used 2 shades of pink and pieced the peony petals.
It's hard to see in the photos, but there is a touch of shimmer to the pink petals. I used a couple of my glitter brush markers. They are quick and easy with a huge impact!

Quick and easy elegant sentiment card

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a fairly quick and easy card. This card focuses on the stunning sentiment from the Copperplate Everyday collection by Paul Antonio for Spellbinders.
COPPERPLATE THINKING OF YOU PRESS PLATE

This gorgeous sentiment is from the Copperplate Thinking of You press plate from the Copperplate Everyday collection. This is a BetterPress plate, but for this card I chose to foil it with Fuchsia Flower foil. I used the oldie but goodie, Labels 8 die set to die cut it out. I love the simple elegant shape of this Labels die set.
I chose a cute floral pattern paper from the Paper Rose Rainbow Twirl 2.0 6x6 pad and cut a strip. To the bottom, I added a 1/8" strip of blue glitter paper for some sparkle. The purple scallop that I tucked under the panel is from the Heartfelt Thanks and Scallops die set, I just cut off a side of scalloped rectangle and used it instead of a scalloped border die. I added a few flowers from my beloved Be Bold Blooms die set and that was it. I didn't need to add any extra bling because of the few pieces of glitter cardstock. I love how it turned out!

BetterPress Floral Background colored two ways

Hi everyone! I'm back today sharing another 2 cards from the Let's Celebrate collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders. If you missed my post from yesterday, check it out to see my cards using the Peony Background press plate. This collection features BetterPress plates, floral dies, stencils and even a wax seal! I love this collection and have a few more cards to share in a day or two.
FLORAL CELEBRATE AND LET'S CELEBRATE SENTIMENTS PRESS PLATES

My cards use the BetterPress plate Floral Celebrate and it's coordinating layering stencil set along with the Let's Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate. You don't have to use the layering stencils to color the press plate, so one of my cards uses it and the other I colored with Zig markers.
For this card, I inked up the plate with the Black BetterPress ink and pressed into Porcelain cotton card. I colored the whimsical floral background with some light colors of Zig Real Brush Markers. I just received an order of markers and they were already on my desk, so I went with it! I popped up the sentiment on a layered banner panel, and of course I needed a few flower accents, so I used my beloved Be Bold Blooms die set.
For my second card I wanted to do something different, so I inked the plate with the Black BetterPress ink and pressed into the light blue Glacier cardstock. I used the coordinating layering stencil set with Distress Oxide inks. I wanted to add some subtle shine to the card, so I added some Glitter brush marker accents to the blooms and greenery.

Supplies used on these cards:
Distress Oxide inks in Kitch Flamingo, Rustic Wilderness, Wilted Violet, Squeezed Lemonade, Bundled Sage, Blueprint Sketch

Peony Background Mother's Day cards - 2 designs

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing 2 cards from the Let's Celebrate collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders. It's a lovely collection with BetterPress plates, floral dies, stencils and even a wax seal! I love every bit of it and will be sharing cards using the entire collection over the next few days.
PEONY BACKGROUND AND LET'S CELEBRATE SENTIMENTS PRESS PLATES

My cards use 2 BetterPress plates from the collection, the lovely Peony Background and the Let's Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate. Each card uses the Peony plate in slightly different ways, which gives 2 different results.
For this card, I inked up the plate with the Black BetterPress ink and pressed into Porcelain cotton card. I colored the images with my Zig Real Brush Markers and popped up the sentiment on layered circle die cuts. I layered 2 ribbons underneath the circles to give some grounding. I needed a few flower accents, so I used the Vintage Florals die set.
This background plate has the peonies in the reverse, meaning you ink up the solid plate and the peonies are the open areas. I love this because you can get color on the background easily with ink instead of coloring the background.

For my second card, I inked the plate with CP ink All That Jazz and pressed into Porcelain cotton card.  I kept the peonies white for a fun monochromatic look. Even though I kept the layout and sentiment the same, with the turquoise ink and no coloring, this card has such a different feel!

Supplies used on these cards:
BetterPress black ink
Porcelain BetterPress cotton card
Catherine Pooler ink in All That Jazz
Black twill and black and white striped grosgrain ribbons from stash

Clean and Simple Spring Magnolia card

Hi everyone! I have a clean and simple card to share today using the pretty Spring Magnolias Press plate and die set. It's part of the new Spring Sampler collection by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders.
SPRING MAGNOLIAS PRESS PLATE AND DIE SET

I just love the deep impression that the BetterPress plates leave in the cotton cardstock. Not gonna lie, using the BetterPress can be messy, and initially I avoided using press plates. But after playing around a bit, I found a couple ways to keep the mess down. Here are my tips:
Tip 1:
When applying the ink to the press plate, go over the plate with small circle motions without tipping the ink pad. This helps to keep the ink off the platform.
Tip 2:
Before you start, gather your stamp cleaner (make sure it's a good one!), a wet wipe and a microfiber cloth. BetterPress ink don't play, so after your finished, spray the cleaner all over the plates and platform. Wipe up with the wet wipe and dry off the plates and platform with the cloth. Clean up is so much easier this way!
I wanted to keep this card mostly white, so I lightly colored the magnolias at the base of the petals, leaving the flower tips white. I added some black splatter and a few gems for the final touches.

Supplies used on this card:
BetterPress Ink in Black
Zig Markers
Black Gouache
Purple gems

Spellbinders From the Garden collection | Sparkly white layered flowers

Hi everyone! Today's card uses some of the dies in the Vintage Florals die set which is part of the new From the Garden collection by Spellbinders. It is gorgeous! I love the way it is designed so that it layers easily and perfectly. 💖
VINTAGE FLORALS DIE SET

I had some white blooms die cut and assembled left over from this white on white wedding card and wanted use them. I just got the Love Notes paper pad by Echo Park and wanted to use it. The striped paper was the perfect background to the white blooms.
To make them pop a bit, I added Stardust Stickles to the flowers along the accent die cut lines. Takes the guess work out of where to highlight.

Supplies used on this card:
Love Notes paper pad by Echo Park
Memory Box Glossy Black cardstock
