Those Mesa Ladies/ October

Yesterday was that favorite day of the month
where I had the opportunity to spend the day with
those wonderful Mesa Ladies
We quilt together at the church, visit,
eat wonderful food, and have the best time.
Janet is getting ready for Halloween
with a work in progress
fusible applique
Bench Pillow
I believe the pattern is by KimberBell
 Lori found this baby quilt
she had started 8 years ago
for her grand daughter :)
Time to finish now!
Only the binding needs to be done.
And a new baptism quilt for the same grand daughter
CTR= Choose The Right
 For Show and Tell
Peg brought her
Getting Around To It
that she designed
 Raw edge circles
 Soft Minkee back
Look at the wonderful quilting!
Julie was working on a pink Chevron quilt for a grand daughter
Each month two of the ladies in the group
serve as hosts
This month Julie and Christine provided the most fun Halloween themed day.
As we walked in, one of the tables was decorated with snacks
and door prizes
 How cute is this?
Julie decorated her trifle bowl
Inside was a snack of roasted peanuts and candy corn.
When eaten together, they taste a lot like a Payday candy bar.
And for lunch Julie and Christine treated us to
the most delicious
Halloween Bag Lunches
 Quilty labels
Chicken Salad Croissants
Veggies and Dip
Fruit Cups
Chips
Homemade cookies
and of course
eyeballs and spider rings
Can you see why I feel so spoiled?
Thank you ladies  !!!

Candy Corn Snack Mix

Tomorrow is a big day for us :)
Our oldest daughter is to be married !!
We have many family members and friends
pouring in from Out of State for the happy event.
My happy happy
is that all 5 of my children will be together.
And of course, I am most happy for
Aubrey and Kevin
who are a perfect match.
I have plenty of food on hand to feed the crowds,
and made this Halloween Snack Mix
that can just sit out in the kitchen for whoever wants a little treat.
I've even left a spoon in the bowl
to make it easier to grab a bite or two.
 Kind of addictive
Candy corn, cereal, and nuts all mixed together with a sweet coating.
The original recipe called for coconut
but I opted to omit because I have family members who are allergic.
Instead I threw in a few cups of Cheerios
and it turned out fine.
 As you can see
half the bowl is gone already.
I think we have a new Halloween favorite.
From start to finish, it took less than a 1/2 hour to assemble.
The original recipe is from
Yummy Healthy Easy
and can be found

Those Mesa Ladies Summer Sewing Safari

Yesterday was my favorite day of the month
with
Those Wonderful Mesa Ladies
Peg was in charge of hosting for June
and she always makes everything so fun!
She e-mailed us in advance and said the day
would have the theme of
Summer Sewing Safari
The invitation said:
Dress in your animal print attire - if you want to...
Gonna Go Wild, quilting.
Door Prizes: Like, every half hour, just saying.
Lunch: Don't mess with me, I've got this, ladies!
Show and tell: This a favorite part. Bring your fun stuff to show.
Duh: We'll be sewing/quilting/cutting, whatever you wish

So I dressed up in my best leopard shirt...
 grabbed my zebra scissors
and
Cheetah glasses
along with my sewing machine and quilting supplies
 and headed to the church.
Peg and Candice had the room
ready for our arrival
with Safari treats and door prizes.
Music from The Lion King's
Hakuna Matata
would erupt through out the room
about every 20 minutes
and a door prize would be given.
 All were jungle themed
Peg really was creative in her selections!
Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!
Who would not love a tiger or zebra car?
I personally received some very cool
Jaguar cupcake liners
and a zebra night mask.
Renee went home with animal print flip flops.
 Peg even made
wrist pin cushions for each one of us!
I now have my very own Cheetah wrist pin cushion.
Are you jealous?
Have I mentioned before that Peg has an extensive background in catering?
She and Candice provided the most delicious boxed lunches.
Chicken salad on croissants
fruit cups
veggies and veggie dip
and dessert
Wild, Crazy, Exotic!
I loved every minute of our day!
Thank you Peg and Candice for a truly Wild Time  !!

tomorrow I will share with you our
Show and Tell from the group.

Those Mesa Ladies/ May

 As you probably know
one of my most favorite days of the month
is when I have a chance to get together with
Those wonderful Mesa Ladies
That is not their official name,
just a title I have dubbed
because most have lived by each other
in the same neighborhood in Mesa
for years and years.
We meet at their church
to work on quilt projects
and share yummy food.
Such nice ladies!
This month most of us brought
Works In Progress
Janet found a spot out in the hallway
to lay out her blocks for this bright happy Chevron quilt.
Cute fabrics!
Peg had
left over
red white and blue
4th of July blocks
and was putting together a small throw.
Steph has a new little grand daughter
and was starting a beautiful
blessing dress
Her fabric choice is a delicate white sheer
embroidered with polka dots.
Gorgeous!
Renee always makes the most interesting backs for her quilts.
Little bits of left over scraps
that make the backs of her quilts
as fun as the fronts.
Gina was sewing simple squares together
with a lovely Japanese cotton/ linen blend
fabric line:
Echino
Steph, Gina and I teamed up together
to provide the lunch this month.
We asked Steph to bring one of her amazing salads
because she really is the best in this category
Her Pesto Pasta Salad
is to die for.
Recipe can be found on Steph's blog
 HERE
Gina brought fresh Strawberry pie
And as part of my contribution
I provided
Inner Peas
because I wanted all the ladies to be able to leave
with a little *Inner Peas inside them.
(*from Trader Joes: crunchy, salty like a potato chip)
Aaaauuuummmm....

Those Mesa Ladies/ April

Once a month I meet with
Those Mesa Ladies
at their church building.
Most in the group are neighbors
and I'm privileged enough to join along.
We bring our machines and spend the day
sewing and visiting.
Everyone works like busy little bees
and I always learn something new.
When I walked in, Holly was ironing blocks
at this low level.
She says she keeps her ironing board at home
at the same height, so it's easy to reach while she is at her machine.
 Gina was working on
Scrappy Trips Around the World
made with bright, happy Kaffe fabrics.

Steph is making a large pinwheel quilt
for a grandson's birthday.
"Tate Is Eight"
Steph's companion fabrics
 Amanda had stacks of
Vintage Happy
charm squares
by my friend Lori Holt (Bee In My Bonnet)
I love Lori's latest fabric line!
The ladies in this group are big Lori Holt Fans :)
Vicki was also working away on
a Lori Holt creation.
Row Along
from the book
Quilty Fun
And as always we were treated to the most
fabulous lunch.
Karen's made a salad with
marinated grilled chicken with blackberries
from the Our Best Bites cookbook
accompanied by a
Berry Poppy Seed Vinaigrette
