Scraplift Santa - Recording the Evidence with Debs

This season is my most favourite of all simply because I love the joy and excitement Christmas brings with it.The flip side is that it is such a busy time of year for a lot of us. And that brings me to this morning scraplift inspiration ... a few pages from my Christmas journal.
I love  that a journal allows us to plan and prepare pages in advance so that we can jot down notes and keep photos of all the moments of the season as we go along. I tend to set my journal with themed pages that feature every year:- What’s on my front door, advent calendars, Christmas wish lists from my girls, Christmas party with work colleagues, music playlists, decorating the tree, samples of this years wrapping paper and/or cards, envelope for receipts  and so on. I then leave pages to add the extras like tickets to pantomime or movies or shows, visits from friends, secret Santa gifts, BIG news this December, etc.

Our Facebook gallery is HERE  if you decide to join in any of the Scraplift Santa Challenges we have been posting. See you again on Saturday when our next challenge is up

Advent with ATDML - Day 13 - December Daily journal

Unlucky for some the 13th, but not for you as we continue with our seasonal craft inspiration and today I am sharing some pages from my December Daily journal. I try and do this journal each year and usually make it about half way through the month and run our of time/steam but this year I am determined to finish!

I have prepared some of my pages in advance so just need to print off the photo for the day, add my journaling and embellishments. I have kept things much more fluid in my album this year by combining 6x8 pages, some which came in a pack from Simple Stories with decorative edges and some I cut myself from kraft paper, with smaller 4x6 pages and also page protectors. I have also added in a couple of postbox cards that I purchased to send but loved them so much I wanted a couple in my album too!

I have also focused more on telling stories this time. Including the leaving up of last years Christmas wreath in the porch all year as I had not taken it down by 12th night and the tale of my husband having to crawl under the paperchains the elf had strung across my sons door for he would not let his dad take them down in case it upset the elf!!

I have combined several collections in my album from Kaisercraft Silent Night to Bo Bunny Merry & Bright and Simple Stories Classic Christmas to Stamping up and then added in just a few embellishments including sequin stars, a pack of star enamel dots, gems and seasonal washi tape. Learning from the last few years I have restricting myself to flatter embellishments in the hope my album will shut at the end of the holidays!

Are you doing a December Daily journal? If you are be sure to share some pages on our Facebook page, we'd love to see them!

Pop back here tomorrow for more inspiration from Karen who has an exploding box with a surprise for us.

The Sort of a Christmas Journal, Journal

When I was sent a selection from the Bo Bunny  Sleigh Ride range I knew I wanted to make a Christmas Journal with it but didn't want to make one that would join the unfinished ones from previous years. So as this year is the first Christmas that Gracia and Josh have spent in their own flat and I decided to make her a journal to put the lovely photos she keeps sending me of her home made Christmas decorations, gingerbread decorations and beautifully decorated tree.

I bought an A5 folder that came complete with poly-pockets and as these had a white border I covered that with gold or silver glitter tape.  I cut a gold title on Silhouette and added some gilding flakes to finish the front cover.

I enjoyed the challenge of making blank pages for photos rather than making the pages around a chosen photograph.

I cut a Christmas shape out for every fourth page to add a little interest as I haven't left any space for journaling  - not something I think Gracia would want to bother with.

I was able to use some Christmas themed charms, that I found in my stash, and added some extra snowflakes and sequins to the snow globe.

I made the last page similar to the first one to give the album some continuity.

I can't wait for Gracia's return tomorrow, as she plans on printing out her photos and for us to finish this little project together.

Wishing you a safe and Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
