"Akayla and Montana" More Muskoka Residents

Hello and good morning!! Another digital LO from My Memories Suite! I am loving this! I just recently had to dig through some photo CD's and now can't wait to get working on some poor left behind pics!! This is another LO from our Muskoka Wildlife Centre trip. These guys were amazing and so beautiful. They're stories are below ... have a great day all!

Akayla: He was donated to us from a zoo in Montana when he was 3 months old. In a wolf pack usually only the Alpha male and female breed, in his birth pack in Montana a younger female was fighting for breeding rights. Both of the females were bred and there were two litters of puppies born in the spring of 2000.  There was not enough room in the enclosure to sustain 11 puppies, therefore 3 were donated to us.

Montana and her 2 siblings were donated to us from a zoo in Montana when they were 3 months old.  In a wolf pack usually only the Alpha male and female breed, in the pack in Montana a younger female was fighting for breeding rights. Both of the females were bred and there were two litters of puppies born in the spring of 2000.  There was not enough room in the enclosure to sustain 11 puppies, therefore 3 were donated to us.

LMCB #70 - All About You!

Hello!! Guess what!! Lasting Memories is back with a whole new DT, awesome challenges and changes too!! This week to kick off a new DT term, it's All About You!! Sounds easy right?? Not for me!! I'm usually the one BEHIND the camera, not in front of it, so I don't scrap a lot of pages with me in them. This is part of my Muskoka album and it's strictly just me:

  • photographer
  • not much into cold (see how I'm burrowed in my coat lol)
  • love the color blue
  • LOVE digital scrapbooking now!
Was very different scrapbooking myself, but in the end, I love how it turned out. Now hurry over to LMCB and check out my new DT members (AWESOME!) You'll note a change right away - we're linking up just like you - no layouts loaded up!! You'll see all the new changes too!! Check em all out and see you there!!! Don't forget, we also have a winner for our Dec giveaway!!!

Meet "Barney" Another Muskoka Wildlife Resident

"Barney (a.k.a. Moonface) was captive born at a raptor breeding facility in Simcoe, Ontario and was hand-raised since shortly after hatching.  Barney is eagerly visited by thousands of children because of his famous t.v. role in a children's television series called "Zoboomafoo".  This little fellow plays a delivery owl called Moonface. Barney has travelled across the province teaching school children about the plight of the barn owl in Ontario."

My son LOVED Zabomafoo when he was little. It was so cool to 'meet' the delivery owl from the show!!

Meet "Blossum" Another Muskoka Resident!

"Blossum was born in captivity in Ohio to an ex-pet opossum.  Fortunately it is illegal here in Ontario to keep wild animals as pets.  This little marsupial was only 9 weeks when she became a Canadian citizen and she will now remain with us as a member of our education team. Opossums only started to make their way into our province in the last 20 years so she will help us to teach Ontarians about this relative newcomer."

Such a cool experience to meet Blossum up close and personal! Ashleigh loved it! Blossum is 9 mths old in these pics.

More Muskoka Layouts

Meet "Chocolate" and "Lucky"! Both of these amazing animals live at Muskoka Wildlife Centre. I didn't get a good pic of Lucky as she was back in the bush a little more out of the way. Each animal at the centre as a story - Chocolate is in the top LO and you can see Lucky a little in the trees in the second layout. Have a great day!

"Chocolate was born in captivity in Timmins. She was purchased by a big-screen film company to appear in a movie alongside Ray Romano and Gene Hackman, which was filmed in Port Perry, Ontario. Upon completion of the movie, she was sent here to educate people about moose."

"Lucky was born in the wild and was brought to a zoological facility at only 3 days of age after her mother killed by humans . She was hand-raised and was to be re-released into the wild when she was old enough to survive on her own. Unfortunately Lucky became too dependent on people and was deemed un-releasable. She came to us when the facility she was at closed and she will now live out the rest of her life here as a companion to our resident moose, Chocolate."

Paper Lovin' Gals #9 - Home For The Holidays ...

This week at Paper Lovin' Gals, they have a new challenge!! It's an inspirational "Home For The Holidays" photo ....

When I look at that photo I see the colors as well as winter, fun in the snow .. so, this is what I came up with. Ashleigh turned 11 in Oct, but since we were away on vacation, my mother treated her to Muskoka Wildlife Centre, a place we'd never been. Was really cool - a long drive, but worth it. I have more pages to come .. we also had some fun taking pics of each other throughout the visit as well. I don't EVER wear a hat, but man, it was cold and my mother handed me my Christmas gift, which was a hat and thank GOD bc it was COLD!! Turns out, I love these pics!! Who knew!!

So hop on over to Paper Lovin' Gals and join the fun!! See ya there!!
