Healing Bath Salts

HEALING and SENSUOUS BATH SALTS
As we approach winter there is nothing more fab then a hot seriously relaxing bath with all the goodies.
Bath salts replicate the healing minerals found in natural springs.
Making your own bath salts, is really the easiest thing out, no need to ever buy bath salts again.
FOR THE KIDS
I put bath salts in my kiddies bath every evening - about a teaspoon or so. Salt is a natural healer for all those cuts and scratches kids seem to get from all that play time.  In hers - I also add chamomile, and lavender for a good nights sleep and healing!
SENSUOUS RELAXING BATH SALTS
You can add whatever essential oils you like.
Some recipes include baking soda in the bath salts as a gentle cleaner for your body.  I find that this tends to make the bath salts clumpy.

WHY THE INGREDIENTS USED:
Himalayan Salt
Himalayan Pink Salt is one of the purest salts available for culinary, therapeutic and cosmetic uses. This delectable salt has beautifully formed crystals which range in color from off-white to a lustrous pink, it has a quantifiable amount of 84 trace elements & iron. The benefits are endless but Himalayan Pink Salt is primarily used for gourmet cooking and in bath preparations.

Epson Salts
Epsom Salt is a truly luxurious product, often overlooked for its therapeutic benefits, and is principally used in bath salts to sooth, relax, and relieve sore muscles. They can be used as a stand alone salt for soaking, or may be blended with essential oils for a truly splendid bathing experience. Aside from cosmetic use, Epsom Salt has numerous medicinal benefits and supplies the body with magnesium and sulfates.

Frankincense
Is used for: Anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent. Blemishes, dry & mature skins & scars.  Helps with coughs, colds and flu.  Eases anxiety, nervous tension and stress.  Slows breathing for meditation.

Lavender
Has loads of healing and relaxing benefits, and is probably one of the most versatile essential oils, as well as smelling gorgeous.

Ingredients:
2/3 cup (165ml) Coarse Sea salt
1/3 cup (80ml) Coarse Himalayan Salt
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
5 drops Rose Essential Oil
Method:
- Put the salts in a bowl, mix together.
- Add the oils and give another mix.
Tips:
- 'Nature's choice' (found in major supermarkets and pharmacies) has a nice pure rage of salts.

Magical Moringa tree

THE MAGICAL MORINGA TREE
I was very recently down in Durban, and coz you can't get country living out of me (even in a city) I had to take the opportunity of waking early and visiting the Shongweni Farmers Market in KZN.  It is only open from 6:30am till 10am!  What a wonderful experience.  Lots of adorable dogs, laughing children, people in gumboots, hay bales, and the smell of wonderful fresh produce.

Whilst strolling the market I came across a stall selling Moringa trees.  I was given the spiel all about how fabulously miraculous the Moringa tree is.  Well of course with my complete fascination in healing plants I just had to get one, then Google it later to see if what they say it is is actually what it is....  Jenny at the stall encouraged me to taste some leaves... and mmm.. yummy, a bit like baby spinach.  They can be added fresh to salads or to soups etc.  Jenny also made a tea from drying and crushing the leaves, which can then be put in a coffee plunger to get a very nutritious tea.  Then low and behold when I get home to the bush, one of the blogs I follow: Faithful to Nature  has a little write up all about this tree that I had only just heard about.
