Tim Holtz Gift Name Tag

 Good morning!

I love Tim Holtz stuff!

I don't always feel like I do his stamps justice but they are so fun to work with!

I used the Stamper Anonymous Tim Holtz Department Store Stamps to create a couple of gift tags!

I stamped the wreath twice.  I stamped and embossed with green and then added a bit of green distressed crayon.  I stamped in red using the Ranger Distress Ink Pad - Lumberjack Plaid then embossed with Ranger Distress Embossing Glaze - Lumberjack Plaid colored it with a marker then glued it on as well as the "Merry Christmas" that I embossed in vintage gold.  I added some baubles for the little berries!

I stamped the bells 3 times, once embossed with gold, once in red, and once in green.  I then fussy cut and assembled then added some small beads for berries!

Tim Holtz Christmas Stampers Anonymous - A Festive Collage Card

Hello, Lisa Hoel here and welcome to the current Product Focus! We are taking a look at Tim Holtz's 2022 Stampers Anonymous Christmas stamps. There are some great new sets released this season and I used one of my favorites (Festive Collage) to create a Christmas card.

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Boutique - Product Focus on Tim Holtz 2022 Christmas stamps! #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkieboutique

I created lots of layers for this card! Let's take a look:

Step 1 - I used the new Pinecones stencil to create the background layer. I used Heavystock as my substrate and did one piece with Opaque Crackle Paste and one piece with Translucent Crackle Paste. I wanted to compare the two and wasn't sure which I wanted to use in my card.

Step 2 - I spritzed each piece with Antique Linen, Old Paper and Tea Dye Distress Stains as well as Fresh Balsam Mica Stain. The Opaque paste resists the stains more than the Translucent. I decided to go with the Translucent piece for my card.

Step 3 - The next layer was a piece embossed using the 3D Tree Rings Folder. The next was a Heavystock Tag to do my stamping on. I prepped it by smooshing Oxide Iced Spruce and Antique Linen onto the tag.

Step 4 - Stamping! Using a stamping platform, I first stamped my image with Archival Black Soot ink. Then I used some of the Seasonal Pearlescent Distress Crayons like watercolors to color the image in. (Scribble on a craft sheet and use a water brush to pick up the color and paint.) When the crayon was dry, I stamped again over the top with Black Soot to make the details of the stamped image crisp again.

Step 5 - I used the Vintage Labels Die Set to make a little label to stamp the sentiment on (from the Darling Christmas stamp set).

Shimmer & Shine - Tim Holtz Christmas Idea-Ology Inspiration

Hi!  Suzz here.  I loved the shimmer and shine found in the Christmas release from Idea-ology Tim Holtz and used that to inspire a few different projects.

The droplets had me thinking of different ways I could use them on my Christmas themed projects.  I decided to use them first to create a Christmas wreath.

I used a circle die cut to trace a circle in the center of the card and then I applied tape in the circle.  I then pulled out the color combination of droplets I wanted to use in various sizes. (light blue, silver, white).

I placed the largest droplet size in one color and place them equally spaced around the circle.    I repeated the process with the next color until all the large sized droplets were placed.  I then repeated the process with the next size down.  I ended up having to shift some of them at the end with the smallest ones.

To finish off the card I stamped a sentiment in gray ink and sprayed a shimmery ribbon with mica stain spray to blend with the colors of the wreath.

Next I started to play with the glitzy deco sheets.

To cut out my images with the deco paper I used wax paper in between the die and the deco sheet.  This will help loosen up the release of a die.  I also used the metal shim to get a clean cut.  The thinlets required the extra pressure to help keep the edges cut with all the details.  I also ran them back and forth a few times to get the best cut.

I used two different sized stars laid together on the cutting board to get my star outline.  I then cut a piece of the deco sheet as the background layer of my tag.  I accented with a few droplets and the sentiment.  I finished it off with some died ribbon and a shiny bell!

My final tag highlights the shimmery snowflakes.

The background was stamped with a silver ink using the beautiful renaissance stamp.  Then heat set the ink before adding an edge of silver embossing and a sentiment embossed in gold.  The snowflakes were cut and added with a touch of bling using the droplets.

The ribbon was embossed using silver tinsel embossing powder.  I used versamark ink  to sponge the ribbon and then dipped it in embossing powder and heat set the embossing powder.

I hope this has you inspired to pull out your idea-ology and start embellishing!

Tim Holtz Christmas Idea-ology Assemblage

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. I'm really getting revved up for my favorite making season, Christmas time! Our Funkie Junkie Focus this time around is on Tim Holtz's Christmas Idea-ology which I am a big fan of. All those fabulous bits and bobs. Love it! I created an assemblage in a Festive Tin

Lisa Hoel for The Funkie Junkie Blog - Christmas Idea-ology assemblage #creativejuicefreshsqueezed #tim_holtz #thefunkiejunkie #thefunkiejunkieboutique #frillyandfunkie

Bottle brush trees, tiny lights, snowman… these definitely fall in the "a few of my favorite things" category.

Let's take a look at some of the building process.

1) I cut some styrofoam blocks and hot glued them into place inside the tin. I made an area at the back of the tin to tuck the lid into.

Hot glued the lid in place.

I didn't take a photo, but I cut a piece of white mat board to cover the foam and create a platform to glue all the elements onto.

2) I prepared all the Idea-olgy parts I wanted to include. The metal numbers I painted with the new Lumberjack Plaid paint. It IS a good red! Can't wait to play more with this new color.

The snowballs are Baubles that I smeared with Snowfall Grit Paste. The Salvaged Snowman I painted with acrylic paints (such great detail!)

The Tree Lot bottle brush tree I colored with Rustic Wilderness Spray Stain as well as Mica Stains Tree Lot and Fresh Balsam. TIP: I covered the wooden tree base with masking tape before I sprayed the tree. It kept it clean so the Distress wouldn't bleed into the snow in the final assemblage.

3) I tried using the new Distress Watercolor Pencils to color the Paper Dolls. They work really well! Paula Cheney has a really great tutorial on how to do it on her blog. FYI, this particular doll is from one of the past years' Christmas collections so I'm not sure if this one is in the 2022 pack.

4) I hot glued in the main elements and then spread Snowfall Grit Paste around them with a small palette knife. While the paste was wet, I also used the
Glitter Duster to add Rock Candy Dry Glitter to the scene for even more sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are inspired to go get crafty! Christmas Treat Boxes – Ranger Seasonal Distress Playtime!

Hello friends, Lisa Hoel here! If you are into making for the holiday season, it is definitely time to think about Christmas crafting! I know for me personally, if I wait until December there is no way I can have all my creative plans come to fruition. So let's get going!

Our Funkie Junkie product focus this time around is on Tim Holt'z Seasonal Distress release from Ranger. Mica Stains, Crayons, Snowfall Grit Paste and the Grey Woodgrain Cardstock make for some stellar creative playtime!

I decided to use Eileen Hull's new Geometric Box Die to create some Christmas treat gift boxes in two different color ways.

I thought the triangular panels of the box sides would be perfect for showcasing different Distress techniques and colors.

In my personal decorating I don't do much with pink/pastel type color combinations but I do appreciate the retro palette! The Holiday Mica Spray Set #4 that contains Merrymint, Cocktail Party and Shiny Bauble is perfect for it. (More details on techniques below, scroll on…)

Here is the more "woodsy" traditionally colored box. The lid lifts off to reveal whatever treats you decide to pack inside:

Let's take a look at some of the how to! (If you missed Tim Holtz's live where he discusses the 2022 Seasonal Distress release and shares demos, check it out. SO much good info.)

1) I started out playing with the new Pine Branches 3D Embossing Folder, trying different papers and color combinations.

The pearlescent Crayons are perfect for blending over the embossed areas. I just colored directly onto the paper and then blended with my finger.

I ended up going with the green cardstock with Fresh Balsam Crayon.

2) Next I moved on to various pastes and sprays.

Transparent Texture Paste on Distress Watercolor Paper.

Love it!

Texture Paste Opaque (Holiday Knit Stencil) and Crackle Paste Opaque (Festive Stencil)

The Tart Cranberry Mica Stain adds a wonderful glimmer!

3) The Mica Stains are perfect for coloring the Woodland Trees too! Next time I spray trees, I need to remember to wrap tape around the wooden base. The Distress sprays react with the Snowfall Grit Paste. oops!

4) Geometric Box assembly! I cut the base pieces out of white mat board.

I cut triangles out of my Distress papers to fit onto the sides of the boxes.

I added Rock Candy Glitter to the stars. Nice sparkle!

5) I made some little houses for the lids using the Paper Village 2 Die Set. For the pink house, I cut it out of the Holiday Gray Woodgrain Cardstock and tinted with the Cocktail Party Crayon.

6) I glued the trees and houses onto the box tops and then added some Snowfall Grit Paste snow all around it and on the house roofs.

For a final touch, while the paste was wet I added some Rock Candy Glitter using a Glitter Duster. Extra sparkle is good!

Personalized Christmas Gifts - Tim Holtz Burlap Panel

Happy Saturday!  Autumn with you today for a little Saturday Step by Step project.  Today I'm sharing a simple tutorial on transforming a burlap panel into a personalized Christmas gift, Tim Holtz style!

I needed to make four of these gifts. I wanted each element in my collage to be substantial and decided to make my own chipboard embellishments.  Sadly, I didn't pick up any Tim Holtz ephemera in time, so I resorted to printing my own images.  Now, you can use this technique with his ephemera, paper stash images, or your own laser ink printed images/personal photos.  Use Glue N' Seal or matte Mod Podge and coat your chipboard base to adhere the cutouts.  I used the back of a watercolor paper pad for this.  Apply an additional coat over the image to seal.

Allow the sealer to air dry.  Use scissors to cut out each tile (they will be thick), then sand the edges in a very rough manner.  This makes the tiles resemble old box tops.

See those jagged edges!  :)

I mounted my tiles in a grid onto my prepared burlap canvas.  I followed Tim's tutorial HERE for the snowy edge.  Basically, scrape on Grit Paste around the edge of the canvas then apply Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the wet paste.

My photo tiles were the only ones which I applied Vintage Photo Distress Oxide to the edges.  I sponged one side at a time, then wiped with a damp cloth.  The ink resists the Mod Podge, but soaks into the distressed chipboard.  My treasured photo is of us girls trying on silly Christmas hats at last year's party.  <3

To embellish my square panels I made dimensional snowflakes from the Paper Snowflakes dies.  I sponged the edges of the two sizes with Weathered Wood DI and Vintage Photo DOX, then embossed with Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel.

I mounted the snowflake atop a ribbon wrap then added some floss and a bell to further accent.

I cut the word "joy" three times from a strip of Metallic Kraft Core and layered it over the ribbon.

For my 5x7 rectangular panels, I chose a different configuration.

I scraped crackle paste onto my trees (similar to the above photo).

When these were dry I sponged pigment ink onto them and heat set between application.  After three coats, they were dark enough to suit me.

I snipped off the brad prongs from the Jingle Bell Brads, then glued with a loopy twine bow to the base of the trees.

I cut the fancy star from the Dimensional Stars die from Metallic Kraft Core and sanded heavily.  The trick to assembling these stars is to use your bone folder and burnish each fold well.  A bit of wet adhesive and layers of foam inside helps maintain the shape.

I glued the letters "joy" from the inside of my die cut sentiments I made for the first panels onto the photos on my rectangular canvases.  I liked how this helped carry the metallic accent through the design.  I hope you've enjoyed these tips and tricks and are inspired to create a personalized panel of your own for your loved ones.  What images and embellishments will you choose?
