Friday Focus: Prima Memory Hardware

Hello! I wish a warm welcome to all of our crafty family at the Frilly and Funkie Blog! I hope you're enjoying sunny summer days and happy times with loved ones. It's Nancy here, and I couldn't be more excited to share the Friday Focus on Prima Memory Hardware with you. That means for the next two weeks all Prima Memory Hardware Products will be available at an additional 15% discount at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

I have a love affair with all things Prima. I don't think anyone can have enough of it in their craft stash. Not only is it beautiful, but everything they make is superior quality. I was a bit panicked over what to create, as I had to place my Memory Hardware mini album project on hold when I unexpectedly ran out of the paper collection I was working with. The panic only lasted for about two seconds, because this is Prima, and the creative possibilities are absolutely endless. I switched gears and decided to go with a wall hanging, which I am sharing with you today!

You'll find Prima Memory Hardware products throughout this project, as well as this beautiful Prima Rose Quartz paper collection that is new to me. There was actually a little snag with my order and I received this paper collection instead of the one I was working with. It turned out to be a wonderful blessing, because these new papers are so lovely and such a dream to work with. I am beyond picky about the papers I use, and Prima papers live up to my expectations in every way. Each layer of paper is distressed and stitched together, then mounted on two layers of  heavy cardstock.

The Prima Memory Hardware Resin Frame is painted with Memory Hardware Antoinette Pink Artisan Powder and Tim Holtz Distress Paints. Artisan Powder mixes perfectly with the paints to create this custom color for the frame. True story: I put the leftover paint in the refrigerator in a clear plastic cup for later use. My husband thought it was yogurt and had a big spoonful ready to put in his mouth. I stopped him just in time!

Memory Hardware Pearls are scattered throughout the floral arrangement. In Charleston a pearl necklace is a wardrobe staple. A strand of pearls can go with everything, even jeans and a t-shirt. The same is true of craft projects! Pearls add an elegant, feminine touch to everything you create.

The flowers are a mixture of handmade and purchased from Linda's shop. You can find a tutorial for my handmade wildflowers here on the blog. A Memory Hardware Vintage Trinket is tucked inside the bouquet. You can place any design or photo inside the trinket frame, making them perfect to tailor to your needs.

The resin corners are from Prima's Shabby Chic Vintage Treasures, and are also available in Linda's shop.

Thank you so much for taking a peek at my little wall hanging. I hope you'll enjoy using these lovely Prima products as much as I do. Not that we need an excuse to shop for crafty goodies, but with a 15% discount through July 6th, who can resist? I send warm wishes for a wonderful summer with your loved ones. I'm taking a short break from the design team to attend to family matters, but I'm already looking forward to returning in January. In the meantime I'll still be hanging around y'all's blogs taking in all the fabulous inspiration!

Hugs,

Nancy

You're My Inspiration!

Hello, crafty friends! I hope you're having a wonderful summer. It's Nancy here today, with the honor of hosting a brand new challenge here at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.

First up some exciting news. We are thrilled to announce that we have two new members joining the Frilly and Funkie Design Team; Autumn Clark and Sara Emily Barker will be well known to many of you as hugely talented designers, and it is fantastic to welcome them

For the next two weeks our theme will be 'You're My Inspiration.' Simply find any type of image or photo that inspires you to create a vintage or shabby chic project. Please post your inspiration image on your blog along with your project, and tell us what it is you love about it. The inspiration image does not need to be included as part of your project, just on your blog post.

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot here at Frilly and Funkie. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

The guidelines for entering are simple; create a new vintage or shabby chic project following the challenge theme, link it below to your post (not just your blog) and include a link back to this challenge in your post. You can combine our challenge with up to 10 challenges (including this one) to be in with a chance of winning. Make sure you follow the guidelines, as unfortunately we have had to eliminate entrants from the prize draws in the past when they have entered too many other challenges. If you are entering through a public forum (such as Instagram) you'll need to include the words Frilly and Funkie Challenge. Also, please be sure to turn off your Word Verification so our design team can leave comments on your blogs.

This week the Funkie team are here to share their own inspiration projects;

Sara Emily Barker- sarascloset

Suzanne Czosek - Suzz's Stamping Spot

Jenny Marples - Pushing The Right Buttons

Friday Focus on Maja Design: Bless this Nest!

Hello! Welcome to the Friday Focus at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. It's Nancy, and I have the privilege of sharing my love of Maja Design Papers with you. Today it is all about the paper. In honor of  the Friday Focus Linda is offering an additional 15% discount on all Maja Design Products at The Funkie Junkie Boutique for the next two weeks!

My intention is to show you as many of their beautiful patterns and collections as possible in one project. A series of ATC's came to mind, but I with the beauty of spring all around, my thoughts drifted to Easter eggs. I have something new for you: ATE's, aka Artist Trading Eggs! Each one is a bit similar, but also a bit different. Each one gives you a glimpse of a different paper or collection from Maja Design. These little ATE's will make the perfect addition to any Easter basket or spring decor.

Of course, it is impossible to include every collection and every pattern. For that I would need to do post every day for the next couple of years (or more!). What it comes down to is that you can't go wrong with Maja Design products. They manufacture the most high quality, unique, and versatile papers I've ever worked with. The colors are rich and brilliant. The collections are designed to work together, so you can mix and match to your heart's content. Each gorgeous sheet is double sided and durable. I sew on them, distress them, apply moisture, and bake them regularly and they can stand up to every thing I throw at them.

You'll find a complete supply list for this project at the bottom of the post. The flower tutorial for this project (Wildflowers in Winter) can be found here on the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Once you have assembled your flowers you are ready to assemble your eggs.

If you don't have an egg die, the free online pattern for the egg can be found here with many thanks to whataboutmimi.com! You can resize the pattern in your photo editing software as needed. Cut one egg from chipboard and another from a piece of  Maja Design patterned paper. Adhere the patterned paper egg to the chipboard egg.

Now for the really fun step. Embellish as desired! Adhere your chosen sentiment, flower, leaves, or whatever flourish dies you have on hand. Personalize each egg in any way you wish. You can even place names on them and use them as place cards at a spring dinner table. Below are several additional photos of completed eggs.

Thank you so much for joining me! I hope you'll enjoy Maja Design Papers as much as I do. Don't forget to take advantage of the additional 15% discount on all Maja Design Products at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. It's the perfect time to stock up!

Hugs,

Nancy
