One for the Hubbie...

Hello Peeps

Sorry I have not been around much the last week or so,  Hubby and  I went away for a short holibob and I have come back to a whirligig of Nativity Plays and appointments and things....Busy busy!

You remember I told you that I found some old photos of projects I have not shared?  Well this is one of them....

It is my Anniversary card for Hubby a little while ago....

Very plain and simple but he liked it.  It does what is says on the tin!!

I took two bits of cream cardstock out of my Snippets drawer...yep, cream and white card goes in a drawer!!!!  I die cut them using a Sizzix die then taking my Stampin Up embossing folder that I was forced, yes forced to buy, and I ran one of the hearts through it, before layering them, punching holes with my faithful crop a dile and then stringing some Maya Road string round the card.  My little stamp with WV Potting Soil before attaching this piece of card onto the card base.

I am off to the Snippets Playground with this.  I understand the dress rehearsal for the Natitty Play is on Friday afternoon so I hope to see you all there in your costumes.  My Mum has washed some tea towels up ready, just gotta iron them but not before the day or they will get creased!!  Does anyone know if Parsnip and Fergus have got parts yet?

Thanks for popping over.

Mummy and Daddy's Diamond Anniversary

Hello my Lovelies!

My Wonderful parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I had a little spark of an idea for the card I wanted to make.  When I saw my lovely Buddy's card for her friend's 25th I just knew it was the right idea.  So without further ado here is the card I made for my parents.....

This photo is one of my favourites of their wedding.  I scanned it from the little album that were given to their parents.  I have my Grandad's album...lucky me!!

A close up of the sparkly die cuts.  Can you tell I had great fun making this card?

Side view with another photo.  The box base I cut using my Silhouette so that I could have fancy edges.

And now one showing the happy Lovebirds cutting their cake.  I am telling you, I have never used so many blingies on one card!!

Top view.  I wanted to ensure that the bits looked as good from the front as the back so I adhered another shape to the back.
I used a few Snippets and had to raid the Christmas Snippets basket as I ran out of the silver.  Luckily I managed to find a few more bits.
Here is the card folded.

And now the other folded side.

This card took me several hours to make and all the time I was giggling as it was so much fun.  My parents loved it and my Dad, ever the engineer kept looking to see how I made it!!

I am going to sneak this into the Butterfly Challenge - K is for Knot...well the were tying the knot after all!!

I am also going to skip over to the Cuttlemania Challenge as there isn't a square in sight!!

Off to the Snippets Playground now to have a play and see if there is any choklit behind the bike shed!!  See you there!!

Happy Anniversary...

Hello there

I am just about up and able now after the last 2 weeks or so of feeling quite feeble and poorly.  I finally went in my craft room on the weekend and just gasped at the mess in there!!  I have quite literally in the last month been going in, doing what I have to and then leaving all the mess and debris there!  Tonight I will don apron and duster to give it a bit of a spruce up!

So today I thought I would share an Anniversary card I made for a very loving couple that I know.  The anniversary was last month but I am only just sharing.

I made the tent style card to fit some envelopes I was given.  Then I took a Snippet of card, stamped it with clear versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I then took Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Stormy Sea DIs and smooshed over the top until I liked the colour.

I then took the iron out and ironed off the embossing powder.  This is one of the only times I actually like ironing!!  I trimmed the card to fit and adhered to the background.  I stamped a NBUS Hero Arts HA sentiment (I should have stamped it with Archival first on a scrap piece to prime the stamp!) The M&B sentiment is part of a SU set I acquired recently.

Then it was a case of attaching some ribbon, which is much more silvery IRL and was attached to a Christmas present that the recipient of this card gave me!!  A little bit of silver twine and some hearts, chomp the corners and hey presto the card was done.

The couple loved it.

Off to share this with the Snippets Playground (card and ribbon).  I am hoping the fire is lit as I could do with a warm up!

Thank you Sue for becoming my latest Follower.

Thanks for calling by.   Hopefully now that I am feeling a bit better I will feel up to a little more blogging now.  Oh, and if BT gives us our internet back!  Grrr!

Hugs

Happy Anniversary....

Hello There Peeps

How you all doing on this Thursday?  We have actually had some glorious sunshine this morning, but it has dulled over in the last few minutes.  Let's hope it comes back!  I heard mention of the S word at Dancing last night and I don't mean the yellow thing that we see in the sky!!!  I hope it doesn't happen.

I want to thank you all for your lovely comments on my last post re the Christmas Album and Rudolph Day cards.  They were greatly appreciated.

Rightio.  On to today's little offering.

My dear friend and her Hubby were celebrating their wedding anniversary last weekend.  I have a list on which I mark up coming birthdays, anniversaries etc, and I usually put things on there for the next month, so now the list is showing all March  events.  Well the Anniversary card had been on there and I kept thinking it was ok as it was towards the end of the month.  However, on Friday night about 9.30 pm I suddenly thought that OMG it was TOMORROW!!!!  So off I rushed upstairs and half an hour later I came down with this......

The background piece is a 6x6 sheet of my MME (I told you she was a dear friend!) which I stamped with the birdie corner stamp , the bird and a lickle tiny butterfly on the right hand side.  I had a rummage in my Snippets box for some card to stamp on and layer with the birdie in the cage.  Out popped this yellow piece (MME again) and a bright pink piece of card, which did not look good against the MME paper, so I inkied it with Rusty Hinge DI.
I layered the pieces, flipped the teeny tiny last bit of the MME paper over and stamped "enchanting" and then swirled stickles on the flowers.  I hope you can see the effect on the card.  I love these stamps and came free with a paper pack, by Prima, on a card magazine.  I have not bought a card magazine for ages, and to be frank I was disappointed with it but the stamps and paper made up for that!

I did some further stamping inside as well as the love poem that was on my Valentines Day card.  I called by their house on my way to quilting before they went off to their little romantic getaway.  Please do not tell my friend I nearly forgot her card.  I blame it on being poorly for the previous two weeks!

Off to link this up with Di at the Snippets Playground.  I understand that there are no nice hunky men sorting the fence so I shall not stay long as I haven't got my souwester!  It is really dark and miserable outside now.

Nearly the weekend.  Anything planned?  The recipient of this card is up for us to have a fun day of natter and scrapbooking so really looking forward to it.

Flower pots...

Hello Friends

Please forgive me for not being around much these last few days, but Hubby and I took a little break up to the beautiful city of York for our Wedding Anniversary.  I have to say that this is one of my favourite UK cities.  It is beautiful and compact as well as being absolutely steeped in history and intrigue.  The people are pretty friendly too - as are most Yorkshire peeps!

So today I am going to share with you a few cards I made recently.  The first for my parents for their anniversary which was a week or so ago, the second for my Boss on her birthday and the other for my tin...
A flower pot of pretty paper flowers.  They will hopefully last a little longer if they do not go through the postal system too!
The top layer of flowers lift with a little card so you can write your message on.

Here is my boss' which she liked enough to take home.  She was quite shocked to find I had made it for her too!
The yellow one is in my tin for another recipient and so I have not put any sentiment in/on it.  I was able to cut some stands on my Silhouette for them to stand on instead of relying on there being something to lean them on.

Of course these have all been made using Snippets, with various punches and dies, as well as liquid pearls and small pearls which I am trying to use up.  You know the ones where you get a sheet out only to find 4 or 5 on there!

Of course I shall pop these down to the Snippets Playground.  Is it just me or do those pesky lickle snippets breed when they are in the drawer?  The more I use the more I get!!

Before I go, I just want to say Hello and Thanks to my latest followers!

Happy Anniversary My Love...

Hello Friends

Today xxxx number of years ago Mr Hettie and I were married on a beautiful sunny day.  So I thought today I would share the card I have made for Mr Hettie to mark the Special Day.....

This really is a heavy weight card on which I have used a plethora of stamps including Artistic Outpost, 7 Gypsies, Tim Holtz as well as my favourite honeycomb stencil with some Sweet Poppy embossing paste (NBUS - in copper anyway).

This is not an ordinary folded card.  I had already made the panel and laid all the elements I wanted included but knew that an ordinary square card would possibly not hold the weight (and anyone who knows us will know we are anything but square!).  So I went on to Splitcoast Stampers to see if there was any other design that might still stand and came across a tri fold shutter design.  As usual I had to put the "Hettie Spin" on it and change the sizes but this is what came about.

On the original design the back closes but as I used a 12x12 sheet, mine didn't but to be honest I like this as it leads the recipient to look inside at the message (I wrote it after I took photographs!)

Here is the back opened up.  The red ribbon (a Snippet) is only there to hold the card together to make it easier to put it in the envelope and get it out.

Some close ups for you to see the details.  Inks used were Archival and DI in Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogony, some gold embossing powder and "Stuff" from my collection.
And here it is standing up in the bay window.  The papers used were Papermania Elegance which I have had for ever and the little stamped pieces were all from white cardstock from my Snippets drawer.  So I shall be taking this along to the Snippets Playground

Thanks for calling by.

Same stamp - different colours

Hello Friends

Brrrrr!!

Do you remember the lovely Paperartsy stamp I was lucky enough to win recently?  You will remember that I made some cards in muted colours for some peeps HERE.

Well, just to prove that the stamp works with brighter colours.....

It was a Special Couple's Anniversary recently and Mandy does like her bright colours.  I will never forget the kitchen in their previous home being Bright orange, Sunshine Yellow and Lime green!!

They loved this card!  As it is made using a plethora of Snippets I shall take it along to the Playground!  The blue piece is another from the bottom of my spray box and it has a lovely shimmer on it.  Hope they have the fire on in the Treehouse!

Twinchies - Show us a Flower

Hello Bloggers

The Folks over at Twinchie Land have asked us to "Add a flower" for this current challenge. So here are mine.....

And as usual I have turned them into cards so that they serve a purpose....
The images are from a new set of stamps which my buddy Kim sent to me for my birthday by Inkadinkado - thank you again Kim, and all the sentiments are from the same set, bar the Happy Anniversary which is by Hero Arts.  A little Distress Ink water colouring using a water colour brush and edging before mounting onto cardstock and then adhereing onto cards.  The Anniversary one is for my Mum and Dad who celebrate their 57th Anniversary next month.  Hmmn!  Not long until their Diamond Anniversary, but mine and the current Mr Hettie's Silver Anniversary is before then.  Gosh!  That makes me feel soooo old!  Especially when you consider that I was one of the last from my year at school who got married!  Awwww!  Such a Happy Day!!

All the cardstock came from the Snippets box so I will be throwing these into the Snippets Playground.  Hope they don't get wet!

Huh hum!  Back to business!  There is still time (just) if you should want to join in with the Challenge.  Click HERE for details.

Diamond Anniversary Cards Snippets

Hello Peeps

I know.  I have been a bad blogger lately.  I haven't been keeping up with things.  However, that does not mean I have not been "doing" things.  I have been a bit of a busy Bunny finishing things off and I will show you one of those projects tomorrow evening, all being well, i.e. we actually have internet!

In the meantime, I thought I would share some Diamond Anniversary cards which a friend of mine asked me to make for her Aunt and Uncle who celebrated 60 years of marriage last week.  I haven't seen my friend yet as she is on holiday so do not know whether they were liked. There are two cards because one was to be from my friend (and Hubby) and the other to be from her Mum.  It is quite tricky doing this I think because you have to make them completely different, i.e. different images and different stamps.   Also, I couldn't find a diamond anniversary stamp and quite frankly, it is not a stamp I would use enough to warrant the pennies.

Well here is card 1......
A mixture of Penny Black and Stampin Up stamps, Echo Park papers (from the snippets box :-)), ribbon, premade flowers (Kaisercraft), Nesties and two diamonds in the flowers (holding the mini tag on).

And here is card 2.....
Again papers from my Snippets box (I WILL get that empty some time soon). These were left over from the layout I showed you last week.   Flowers cut from Sizzix die. embossed with my embossing folders and curled petals, layered and diamonds adhered in the centres.  Tim Holtz "lace" and brads (forgot I had those - oops! )
Some more of the Echo Park paper in there - gotta love those papers.
Here are those layers in close up.

My friend who ordered them was very pleased with them and agreed the "diamonds" were nicer than "60"s on the cards! Phew!

Right, off to link these with the lovely Pixie as they are mainly made from my Snippets box.  As the weather is sooo nice at the moment and the playground is just about stiffening up after all that rain, I will see if there are any pogo sticks left in the shed.  Why not join us in the Snippets Playground?  Just make something, anything using snippets and link up with the Keeper of the Keys.

Thanks for looking and please lave me a comment.

Friday Snippets - I see a trend...

Hello Peeps

It is Friday so that means I (usually) post my latest Snippets cards.  I missed last week's posting (so sowwy folks) due to life and stuff getting in the way but I have saved them for you to see this week.  So grab a coffee/tea/wine/Baileys (wish I could join you but I am on antibiotics *sad face) and then I shall begin!

I don't know if you know my blogging buddy Sandra of Stamping for Pleasure, well a few weeks ago she posted instructions to make a pop up card HERE.  Well, I couldn't resist being able to make something just that little bit different than an ordinary rectangular/square card, not that I have any objection to those, but I am known for being different! Or is that eccentric?

Well, I made this one for my friend who was poorly whilst she was on holiday in the Bahamas and during the flight home.....

(I don't know why the "Get Well Soon" on the front does not show up well, it did in real life!)
Then I made this one for my Mummy for her birthday.

And this one for my lovely friend Sandra (love that bunting punch, which you can buy through Sandra as she is Stampin Up agent - see her blog for details).
Oh! And this one for my dancing teacher and her hubby on the celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
You cannot see but it has a gold shimmer of perfect pearls mist on there!
I managed to get some bigger envelopes from eBay so I could use a larger base (6"x12") or (4"x8") or (5"x10"), depending on what size envelope I have handy.  Sorry Sandra, I don't do centimetres!

Well, you know me, I rarely cut into a whole fresh new sheet of paper to make a card so these all qualify for the Snippets Challenge over at Di's Playground.  Feel free to make something using snippets and join with us.

The sun was shining today and the forecast for the weekend is good, so if I am well enough to play tomorrow I shall see you there, but nothing too spinny or up and down-ey or I am liable to fall off at the moment!  So the go-karts better stay in their sheds!

See you for a gentle game of hide n seek!!

Happy Anniversary - ATC Canvas - Snippets

Hello There Peeps

What a perfick Spring kinda day we have had today and lucky for me I have been home, having booked the day off!  Yippee!!  Just as well really, as I am still not quite 100% but getting there slowly (physically not mentally thank you!).  Many thanks to all of you for your kind messages.

I thought I would share with you a pressie I made for my good friend Mandy and her husband Andy for the occasion of their Wedding Anniversary recently.

Mandy has been making comments along the lines of her wish for one of my ATCs which I have made recently so I thought I would make her an ATC canvas instead of an Anniversary card.

The image was sent to me by a friend of mine and I absolutely love it.  I shall be endeavouring to buy the set which I believe is a Papermania set.  I used some Distress Inks (Fired Brick, Broken China) to colour the background of the stamped piece and then used some of my Copics to colour individual parts (clock and plant).
I then started to work on the canvas itself.  I coloured the canvas with a mixture of Picket Fence and Chipped Sapphire Distress Stains.  Once this had dried I then stamped around the edge of the canvas with the same DIs as above and also using a Tim Holtz text stamp I stamped the base.
I added a snipped of manuscript paper (recycled from an old book bought for £1),  added some washi tape and lace, and then placed the stamped image onto canvas.

I used a second stamping of the image and cut out the word "Love" and the butterfly.  I coloured the word with Fired Brick DI and added some Glossy Accents.  I used some Copic pens to colour the butterfly, shaped it and attached it to the background with glossy accents and foam pads.  I also attached the Love to the background with foam pads.  A key with ribbon attached and also some Martha Stewart hearts and hey presto it was complete!

So, what do I use to put the lickle ATC canvas in?  Well this lickle bag!  It came about because I could not find a box or bag to buy so I set about making one.  I remembered a blog posting HERE which I saw some time ago so set about making a miniature one.

Mission accomplished I gave Mandy and Andy their "card" and they were most pleased with it, and I believe it is on display.  Better than a card I think.

As this canvas is made from snippets I think I will put it into Di's Snippets Challenge.  Click HERE to go to the playground and why not join in for all the fun of the playground.  A very posh playground too as there are pogo sticks, and swings, and roundabouts, and a duck pond!!  See ya there and Tag you are "It"!! LOL!!

Hope you like it .  Off for my bath and bed now.

Snippets Challenge - Busy Birthday Month February

Hello Peeps

Time to sign in to the Playground with the lovely Di again!

I have decided to follow Sandra's example of doing one posting for the Snippets each week so that poor Di does not have to link quite so many cards to her posting.  Poor thing must have typists' cramp by the end of Saturday evening so I have a selection of cards for you to see......

First up was my friends' Emma and Gryff's Anniversary card....
Then another card along the same theme for Joan.  Joan was 90 last Friday!  What is even more amazing is that she still regularly attends the Scottish Dancing Group and still dances!!!  Amazing woman!  I will be one happy bunny if I can still be dancing when I hit 90!!
Next up is Annie's card.  Annie's birthday was Wednesday and she loved her card.....

I made the little Friends tag removable and printed on both sides of it.  I then handwrote a message on there for her eyes only.  Annie is one of the solicitors who is at my place of work.  Such a lovely lady who will be retiring next month so look out for a retirement card.

Incidentally, she is Farmer and has chooks so I couldn't resist making her a chicken themed card.  When she opened it she almost immediately asked me to make her one for her friend!!

Next up is Patti's card, whose birthday is today.  Happy Birthday Patti.  A cat lover but I don't think I have any cat stamps and so mice with chocolates will be a good substitute I am sure.  The stamped image is one from my buddy Sandra.

Next up is Gloria's card.  I could not resist butterflies and lots of stamps.  Gloria will be retiring from the firm at the end of next month too - so another retirement card is imminent!!  :-(  Perhaps I should invest in a retirement stamp - any ideas where/which one?

Right then.  That is enough from me for one posting.  I need to pack my stuff for quilting tomorrow and also a dancing lesson and a visit to my folks on the way home.  I think I will need a holiday after all this running around!!  LOL!!

One more picture for you...... we stopped at a coffee shop just before we headed back to the hotel to pick our bags up and wait for the taxi and I could not resist taking a photo of the noticeboard outside.  Enjoy!!

Chow for now!!
