CASology Challenge #407: HAPPY

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #407!

Could the cue word be any more wide open this month?! Instead of committing to a reason for celebrating, I created a HAPPY card that could be used for just about any occasion.

The Impression Obsession Happy Background stamp is heat embossed on the panel first and the sentiment assembled and adhered next. The MFT Little Letters Alphabet dies were used to cut the smaller letters twice and The Stamp Market Chunky Alphabet dies used for the rainbow part of the sentiment. The rainbow letters were swiped with Wink of Stella before being adhered to the stamped panel.

Check out the amazing design team cards and play along with us this week.

Freshly Made Sketches #406

I'm excited to be the designer of our sketch this week and love the cards created by the Clean Team!

We are impatiently waiting for dear friends to welcome their first grandchild which led me to make a new baby card. The baby gender is unknown, but I have a strong feeling I went with the correct color choice. If I'm wrong, I'll happily make a blue version and pop this one away for another day.

The MFT Beautiful Baby sentiment and a few cluster of stars are clear embossed on a white panel before being inked with Spin Sugar Distress Ink. A tiny bit of Picked Raspberry Distress Ink is added to the center and then both colors inked on a die cut heart.

I hope you are inspired to join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

CASology Week 340: AFRICA and Twofer Challenge #15

Welcome to Week 340 at CASology!

I was so excited to see our cue word this week and immediately knew the beaded giraffe my daughter brought me from South Africa was going to be a further source of inspiration. I pulled out my Poppystamps Giraffe Trio dies and brightly colored beads and let them sit on my desk while working out a few design ideas.

It was the MFT Stitched Arch die that really brought the design together. An arch window is cut from a panel, the Concord & 9th sentiment added and the panel popped up on a card base with foam adhesive.

The giraffe dies are cut several times from white card stock and five tucked into the window. A thin line of Glossy Accents is run along the inside edge of the arch and the string of beads tucked into place.

Once the Glossy Accents is dry, the beads are firmly adhered and the ends of the microfilament beading thread can be snipped and tucked under the bottom edge of the window.

Since the Twofer Card Challenge #15 is Zoo Animals, I decided to make another card using one of the giraffe dies.

A giraffe is cut from bright pink felt and then from the PTI From the Heart die. An MFT Beautiful Baby sentiment is added to the heart before the felt giraffe is inset and popped up on the heart embossed panel.

The design is finished with a twine bow and scatter of pale pink and clear sequins.

The two cards together!

The CASology design team has fabulous cards this week!

CASology Week 253: CLOTHES

Welcome to Week 253 at CASology!

For some reason the word CLOTHES initially stumped me. Even after shopping with a few girlfriends and coming home with a selection of polka dot and gingham patterned papers that I bought because I thought they would be perfect for paper pieced baby clothes, the light bulb didn't go off right away. LOL

Three images from Lawn Fawn's Little Bundles stamp set are stamped and fussy cut before being hung them from a die cut Avery Elle bunting line. Aren't these bows perfect?!

The Lawn Fawn sentiment is curved slightly to follow the line of the oval MFT Mini-scalloped Stitched die .

The Design Team has some terrific inspiration for you this week!

CASology Week 245: GROW

Welcome to Week 245 at CASology!

Were you following the long, long, long labor of April the Giraffe? Well, she finally had a beautiful, baby boy and inspired this week's card. The cue word GROW made me think of growing a family with the addition of a new baby.

The Memory Box Giraffe Trio were cut from patterned papers and adhered to a stitched rectangle panel. The PTI Perfect Pairing sentiment was stamped with PTI Blueberry Sky ink on a banner that is wrapped around the popped up panel.

This close up gives you a better view of the subtle patterns in the papers. There are so many directions GROW can take you, even the simpliest birthday card celebrating growing one more year older works for this challenge. Check out the Design Team cards for more ideas!

Muse #208 + Simon Says Stamp

I have an unexpected, very free weekend with my son deciding to join my husband on a little road trip. My daughter is in and out between work and friends, but requires very little from me. Let's just say, I rarely hear "is there anything for lunch?" or "what's for dinner?" from her. In fact, when she texted to say she was on her way home from work last night, she asked if I needed anything.💗

Projects at the top of my "to do" list are being ignored as I alternate between organizing and playing in the office. This is a quick post to share a card inspired by Muse #208 and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to Use More Than One Die or Punch.

From Jenni's Muse card, I was inspired by the gingham, pink and onesie to make this card.

I pulled gingham paper from my stash to cut the Paper Smooches Onesie die, heat embossed a heart and mounted it on a mini-scalloped stitched oval die from MFT. The Lawn Fawn sentiment is stamped in two colors for added interest.

CASology Week 234: YOUTH

Welcome to Week 234 at CASology!

I am really curious to see where this Cue word takes you. Kitty Bee Designs is our sponsor this week and offered the Design Team a couple of adorable images to use on our cards. I choose to work with this sweet, sleeping ladybug which immediately made me think of welcoming a new baby.

This card is a bit of a happy experiment as I was surprised how well a watercoloring technique worked with a digital image. A lightweight watercolor paper went through my printer easily and multiple images were printed as I played with different mediums and colors. In the end, this red-headed lady bug was my favorite. The image is colored with a mix of Zig pens and Distress Inks and left to dry before die cut and the MFT sentiment added.

Check out the Design Team cards for more terrific inspiration!

CASology Week 213: STITCH

Welcome to Week 213 at CASology!

I took this week's word literally and added a few stitches to my card. A felt MFT Beautiful Baby elephant is cut first and then a small oval die is used to create an ear that is stitched on with embroidery floss. After a little consultation with my creative advisors (AKA the kids), a French knot eye was also added.

The finished elephant is added to a sentiment circle and then adhered to an MFT Wonky Stitched Square die, further reinforcing the stitched theme this week.

Check out the amazing Design Team cards for more ideas!

Paper Smooches SPARKS + FMS#209 + HLS October CAS

Three challenges helped me create this sweet little new baby card.

The October CAS Challenge at Happy Little Stampers is Paper Piecing and this adorable Onesie die from Paper Smooches has being sitting on my desk unused for too long. Given that it is an Anything Goes week at the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge blog and the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches #209 featured a stong center image, this card pretty much made itself.

The Onesie die cuts two pieces: the main onesie and an outline piece, so it is cut twice for this card. The bright pink outline piece is paired with the patterned paper die cut and then added to an embossed panel. The sentiment from PS Simply Said stamp set is heat embossed in pink on a vellum banner and then the entire panel adhered to a soft green card base.

CASology + CTS + Simon Says

I have a new baby card to share that pairs the Case This Sketch #138 sketch with the CASology Week 161: Plaid challenges.

For this clean and simple card, Authentique papers were die cut to make the sweet plaid elephant and square frame and a very old Amuse congratulations stamp provides the sentiment.

I am also linking this card to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Anything Goes this week.
