Freshly Made Sketches #591

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #591!

Not only is team member Jennifer Brum an amazing card designer, she is an avid hiker who shares her adventures in the Rockies regularly on social media. My fear of heights keeps me off steep, open mountain ridges but I do love getting in nature, especially if it involves a trail around a lake. My husband and I have been exploring the local lake and lagoon trails, so translating the sketch into lake hike view seemed a great idea for a Father's Day card.

A blue cardstock panel is cut first and then a few triangle "trees" in different sizes were cut from plain scraps of cardstock. I did cut the trees in a few shades of green but in the end decided to stick to one color and add texture to some using a Sizzix 3D Leaf embossing folder. The trees were adhered to form the center triangle from the sketch first and the bottom aqua "lake" was added for the bottom section. A simple MFT All About Dad sentiment finishes the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #534

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #534!

I adore the elegant, airy feel of Cécile Ribon's sketch this week and played with a few ideas before settling on a little bit more of a clunky design.

The airy swipes became the inked blended ocean and partially stamped Concord & 9th Map Love world map. An Ali Edwards Roam Story Stamp (July 2020 kit) sentiment pairs perfectly with the Simply Graphic VW Bus die cut.

This card is for my VW Bus loving DH who dreams of roaming the globe in the new electric version due out in a 2024. I'm trying to figure out how to operate a mobile craft room so I can join him.

Freshly Made Sketches #489

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #489!

My card came together so quickly this week as Linda's fun scatter of circles in this sketch had me digging for the Memory Box Small Ringlets die. I saw the circles as air bubbles and was thinking about an underwater scene. Next step was to pull out the Avery Elle That Bites and decide which one of these fun fish was going to be used.

A rectangle stencil was layered with a Memory Box Texture Wave stencil and inked with a couple shades of blue Distress Inks to add a bit of dimension and movement to the water. The MFT All About Dad sentiment is split between the air bubbles and bottom right corner to make a Father's Day card.

Freshly Made Sketches #488

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #488!

I used Jen Mitchell's fabulous sketch to make a clean and simple Father's Day card. Part of a Memory Box Fresh Pine Landscape die is cut to fit the MFT Mod Rectangle panel and popped up over a woodgrain embossed panel.

An MFT All About Dad sentiment is stamped with PTI Pinefeather ink to match the Pinefeather cardstock and trimmed before being adhered to the bottom corner of the small panel.

Freshly Made Sketches #478

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #478!

Designer Jennifer Timko created a terrific sketch that was perfect for pairing this sweet Simply Graphic die with a little patterned paper.

The sentiment from Ali Edwards Roam stamp set is stamped on the kraft panel first and then partially inked PTI World Map image added to provide a little more interest and a base for the pieced van. When adding the kraft panel to the patterned paper I liked having a little bit of the green peeking out at the top so left it showing.

This card is perfect for my husband and I'm sure one of the kids will snag it from the pile for Father's Day.

I hope you check out the Clean Team cards for more inspiration and join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

CASology Challenge #370: FATHER

Both my dad and my husband are DIYers so there was no way I was passing by the Paper Rose Studio Super Trader stamp set when I saw it at an expo last year.

A card doesn't get much simpler than this with the large image stamped in Memento Espresso Truffle ink, the sentiment in a bright poppy red and then the panel cut with an MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle die for interest before being popped up on a white card base.

In fairness to dad, this sentiment would never apply to him, but does work for a card one of our kids can give to my husband for Father's Day.

Check out the design team cards for more ideas!

CASology Challenge #369: WIND

I love a cue word that has many meanings as you can see by the variety of images used by the design team! I went with a nautical theme and wind filled sails for my card.

An MFT Stitched Arch die cut opening and All About Dad sentiment prepare the top panel to be popped up over an inked panel. The Wplus9 Dockside sailboat die is the last element added to the design.

The design team really have fabulous takes on the cue word!

Freshly Made Sketches #435

I loved the clean lines of Kim's great sketch this week and knew it would be perfect for a Father's Day card. This needs to get in the mail quickly as it took five weeks for my dad's birthday card to arrive last month!?

The Stamp Market Skinny Upper Alphabet die cuts are paired with MFT All About Dad sentiments for this card. The Stamp Market 1/2 inch Quick Strips are a little wider than the sketch to comfortably fit the heat embossed sentiment.

Freshly Made Sketches #391

We have a fabulous sketch from Clean Team designer Amy O'Neill to inspire us this week! My husband rebuilding our deck this weekend inspired me to think about Father's Day cards and play around with my tool dies.

A sentiment from the MFT All About Dad stamp set is stamped on a stitched rectangle before it is woodgrain embossed and the die cut MFT Tool Charms hung. Any construction project here starts with drawings on graph paper so I was happy to find this piece in my patterned paper stash to add a little more interest to the design.

CASology Week 303: FARM

Welcome to Week 303 at CASology!

Is the farm about animals or crops for you? I pulled out my PTI On The Farm dies and Barnyard Sentiment mini-stamps knowing I wanted to stack the cow, pig and chicken images to go with this fun sentiment.

The "on the grill for you" part of the sentiment was computer generated before the others elements were stamped and adhered. The kids are already fighting over who gets to use this card for Father's Day.

Check out the terrific design team cards and give a warm welcome to our newest team member,  Sue Symens!

CAS(E) This Sketch! #224 + Simon Says Masculine

With a little crafting time today I decided to knock a Father's Day card off my to do list, pairing a NBUS PTI Road Signed stamp & die set with an older WPlus9 Written on Ribbon stamp set. The sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch! #224 provided inspiration for the design.

Once all the elements were stamped and die cut, they were layered and adhered with foam dots allowing them to sit at different heights.

This card is also being linked to the Wednesday Stamp Challenge at Simon Says Stamp where the challenge this week is to Make it Masculine.

CASology Week 235: HERO

Welcome to Week 235 at CASology!

Did you think of a personal hero, a cartoon hero or a sandwich when you first saw this week's cue card? My card pays homage to a mix of the first two, my dear husband and his love of classic comic book heroes. Given that he answered "sandwich" once when asked what his favorite snack was, maybe I should figure a way to pull in the third option, too.

A primary color palette reinforced the comic book theme with the PTI Superhero stamp set providing both the silhouette image and sentiment.

CASology Week 202: MASCULINE

Welcome to Week 202 at CASology!

The word to inspire us this week is MASCULINE. My first thought was to use an earth tone palette and more masculine font and sentiment on a card and flipped through stamps and dies until I found a few that would go together.

A partial map image is stamped along the bottom edge of a kraft card base in a pale green ink to anchor the dark gray Kaisercraft compass die and Wplus9 sentiment.

CASology Week 199: FAST

Welcome to Week 199 at CASology!

We have another great word this week that can be used as a noun, verb, adverb or adjective!

An older MFT stamp & die set came out of hiding to make the vanity plate on my card. I laughed when my son read it as "no for speed" as it is meant to be "need for speed". This might be used as a Father's Day card with a gift card to a local go-cart racing facility.

The license plate sentiment is popped up over an angled and embossed panel.

Check out the Design Team cards for more terrific ideas!
