The Butterfly Place

Hi, how's everyone doing?

I'm not sure if I posted the fact that I've been putting together 2 sets of scrapbooks, one for my fiance's mom & step-dad and another for his dad & step-mom. Well I've been working on LOs all the way back to 2007.

This one I did a very similar one for Scott's mom but this one has some slight differences and different papers so it gives it a whole new look! This one is for his dad's book:

A place for cards and a Lovely Award

At the bottom of my blog I had some pictures of this tag that I made quite awhile ago for the desk trunk that I gave my DF for the cards that I make him. I thought I would turn it into a post. I made this right after I gave him a Valentine's card (last year) he said to me that he was going to need a box to safely store my creations. I found this great desk trunk at Michaels...and of course I had to add a tag to it...

The pocket tag and the other tags are all from Cricut's Tag, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge.

I love this paper from Deja View's Fresh Print Blue Raspberry:

Unfortunately you can see the edges of these alphabet stickers but I so love the look of the letters (also from Deja Views from their Wonderful Words letter stickers):

This is a rub-on on from one of my favorite designers, Kelly Panacci:

So with some fun ribbons, buttons and a key you have a great tag for a trunk! And with the pocket tag you can leave little love notes every once in a while...or a honey-to-do-list... ;)

I also wanted to share with you the award that I received from my friend and a very talented lady, Sonia. Thanks Sonia! I'm very honored to be able to display this on my blog:

Have a great night!

Is that a snail? Ewww!

Here's my project for last week's challenge over at the Bitten By the Bug. It was to use the snail from the Walk In My Garden cartridge. It's a really cute snail. You should go over to the BBTB site to check out all the amazing creations from the other DT members.

There's this place a couple miles from my home called The Butterfly Place. It has the most amazing butterflies flying around in this really pretty atrium. It also has a learning center where you can see each stage of the "birth" of a butterfly. And they have more creatures than just butterflies.

So I once again I took the BBTB challenge and used it for the scrapbook I'm making...

Hot Chocolate Tree Box...BBTB Challenge

This past weeks challenge over at the Bitten By The Bug was to use the Tree Box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More...I decided to make a Hot Chocolate Tree Box filled with homemade Hot Chocolate mix and mini marshmallows...mmmmm...

I used CDS and stretched out the tree box as large as I could on a 12x12 mat using the Tag Window feature. But I have to tell you, these shaped boxes on TBBM can be a little difficult to get lined up correctly and I'm not sure if it's because I'm stretching it out (even though it gets stretch out evenly). Does anyone have this issue?

And I finally got to use this really cool CTMH Coffee Shop stamp set that I got a while ago that I've been dying to use! Which I'll definitely being using for some more Holiday projects and cards...

This is available on my Etsy store here.

And go over the Bitten By The Bug site to see all the amazing things the out DTs did with this challenge!

Hot Chocolate Mix:
-PP: DCWV Christmas Glitter Stack 2007
-Stamps: CTMH Coffee Shop
-Fluid Chalk Inks: Colorbox Merlot
-Pigment Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black
-Punch: Martha Stewart's Snowflake punch
-Primsmacolor Pencils: PC946 Dark Brown and PC925 Crimson Lake
-Cricut Cart: Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cut using the CDS stretch out to approx 7 3/4" and using the Tag Window feature
-Misc: Adhesive, Mini Pot Dots, Ribbon (unknown from stash), Gems, MM 1/8" Eyelet (Berry)

TFL!! And Happy Holidays!

A nut for a NUT!...BBTB Challenge

OK, I know there are some of you out there or at least have DHs that do this...wait until the last minute to do Christmas shopping. So I decided to go with that theme for this past week's Bitten By the Bug challenge which was to use the Nutcup cut from Tags Bags Boxes & More. We were asked to do a Christmas project with it and since it's the nutcup I starting thinking of all those nuts that go out shopping on Christmas Eve. And I know how many people do that as I used to work part-time for Linens N Things. You would not believe how many people would come in, even on the edge of closing time, for gifts or even worse...stuff for entertaining for their Christmas dinner guests! And the killer was...if what they were looking for was sold out...how enraged they would get! Hmmmm, a Chocolate Fondue Fountain on sale at an amazing price in the Christmas flyer, gone by the end of Christmas Eve store hours, how could that be?!?!?

You can click on the images to see close ups:

And yet another angle:

Nutty Mix:

One of my favorite cakes (and I say ONE as I love almost all cakes) is the Black Forest Cake so here's my slice:

Also, I've been playing around with my camera trying to figure out what works best on getting clear and true to color pics of my projects, the 1st couple pics were taken inside and the rest were taken outside, maybe you can tell me which ones you like better...also any advice is extremely welcome!

Unfortunately I only had time to do a card with Kazan's sketch. I love Laura's but I wasn't able to get it done in time, but still plain on using it and letting her know when I do.

Some Birthday Cards already done...

The following two cards I did back in February & March and had them on the bottom of my blog way before I learned how to post (took me a little bit to catch on to this blogging thing), so I thought I would post them and finally be able give credit to where credit is due. Both these cards are based on the idea of welding the letters to the base of the card using the Cricut Design Studio. This idea is from a very talented lady named Susan (check out her site, boy does she a very creative mind!)

So with her idea and my altering, here's a b-day card I made for my cousin who just turned 21. I used the CDS by welding the card and lettering from Alphalicious. The letters welded to the base of the card are with the shadow feature and then making a separate cut of the same letters in base feature. The hearts are from TBBM and the scallop frame is from AE. The stamp on the back of the card is from Inkadinkadoo which I used with various fluid chalk inks from ColorBox (which I also used to ink the edges of the scallop frame and hearts, along with I Kan'dee Pearlescent Jewel Tone Chalks). Hope you enjoy & TFL!

This next card I made for my boyfriend's daughter who just turned the BIG 1 0! Her b-day present from us was the baby Cricut and oh my does she love it!
Like the other card I used the CDS by welding the card and lettering, again using Alphalicious. The flowers (attached with mini heart brads) are from George, the hearts for the backside of the envie & the back of the card are from TBBM and the frame opening of the card is another goodie from Alphalicious (also cut from the base of the card by welding it together.
I again used various fluid chalk inks from ColorBox and I Kan'dee Pearlescent Jewel Tone Chalks (I LOVE using these combinations together) to shade the edges of pretty much everything. And finally added some fuzzy yarn by attaching it to the inside fold of the card with crystal brads. And here is what I came up with...TFL!

And here's the birthday girl, very happy with her present...
