country girl wannabe
Every year I pick blueberries and freeze them and use them through out the year. I have had very good luck with freezing blueberries. I decided to give strawberries a try this year. So last weekend I was going to make this big trip to a local farm and pick strawberries, bring them home and freeze them. Well that didn't happen. I could not get my lazy bones up and going. So much for my big ideas of homesteading, working hard and living off the land. My husband called me at work on Monday and said a co-worker of his was picking strawberries and did I want some. Well yes I do. Homegrown strawberries without all the work involved. The strawberries arrived today - 4 quarts. More strawberries could be on the way. I took out a very old Ball freezer book that I have and I made a syrup, washed the strawberries, sliced them and now they are in the freezer. Life is good when someone else is doing the picking.

Well, aren't you lucky! Picking strawberries is not fun at all and then your back hurts for the rest of day. You have the right idea!
ReplyDeleteDamn, how do I come across a deal like that?
