happy new year!!

These tips for a New Year's Eve toast were in my morning newspaper.  I thought I would share them with you if you are like I am sometimes - at a loss for words:

1.  "As we start the New Year let's get down on our knees to thank God we're on our feet." (Irish saying.)

2.  "Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man." (Benjamin Franklin)

3.  "Here's champagne to our real friends, and real pain to our sham friends." (Attributed to Francis Bacon, among others.)

4.  "May all your troubles during the coming year be a short-lived as your New Year's resolutions."

5.  "Here's health to those I love and wealth to those who love me."

I especially like that last one.
