MelJen's Designs Glitters In Gold

Good morning everyone! Boy .. this has been a busy week!!  Monday I had doctor appointments... Tuesday was Lacrosse practice with Bailey... Wednesday was get Kevin to the DMV so he could officially get his Car Drivers License... he had the motorcycle, just hadn't taken the test for the car. The lady told him that he would be the best she had that day and that he should stay and teach everyone else LOL!!  Then it was take care of the tags for the bikes which ended up a nightmare because my daughter some how transferred everything to a different county... Then it was Support Group night. It was a busy Wednesday!!  Today is Lacrosse practice again!!  LOL What a week! I hope everyone is having a great one!! We are closer to the weekend!! Woot! Woot!!

Today we are on Challenge #251 at Meljen's Designs and our theme for this challenge is All That Glitters Is Gold (use gold). Here is what I have come up with:

I had so much fun with this challenge. I thought it was going to be hard to add gold, but I had a lot more gold than I realized. And with gold, I thought this would be the perfect time to throw in a Christmas card! For this one I used two images, Jingle All The Way and Jingle Bell. I colored these images with my Copic Markers, but with Jingle Bell I did a bit of piecing with gold paper. So, the top layer of the bell is printed on gold paper. The Jingle Bell image is also layered a bit. I added some details with a white pen as well. I added gold star paper on the bottom and gold ribbon to add a bit more gold. Then, I did some dots around Jingle All The Way with my Gold Liquid Pearls. I'm thinking I did okay adding the gold :) And this is my very first Christmas card for 2015!!

Copic Markers Used:
  • Holly: G20, G21, G24, G28
  • Berries: R24, R35, R59
  • Ribbon and Bow: R22, R24, R29
  • Bells and Stars: Y00, Y11, Y15, YR23, YR24

Non-Traditional Christmas at Delicious Doodles.

Happy Friday everyone!! Woohoo!! End of the week.. Happy Weekend!

This is the last month for us to have Delicious Doodles Challenges. I will miss being on this DT :)  I love Teri's images so much!! We will still find them online though :) Her images will be at Card Making Downloads starting in the new year! They will be handling all of the VAT tax issues and Teri will still be able to sell all her fantastic images to us!!  I'm so happy that she was able to find a new way to handle everything!

Okay.. enough of that! On to our new Challenge!! Challenge #117 is Non-Traditional Christmas. For this I chose to use a non-traditional Christmas image:

For this card I used Holly Sugar Skull which can be found for a bit longer at Delicious Doodles. I colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils. I popped the skull up one layer. All of the berries are covered with Diamond Glaze to give them a berry nice shine! LOL  And the centers of the little flowers have a bit of Pearl Paint. I inked the edge of the Stamp Die which is from My Favorite Things. I added a bit of stitching down the side of the image. I used a border punch and cut red and green and layered those. on the one side I added the red and green gems to that same border punch. I added the bit of ribbon and the buttons and stamped the sentiment and added it to a small banner at the top. I decorated the inside with the same papers and inked the white center paper. All of the papers are scraps from last years Christmas papers!

Laugh Out Loud at Meljen's Designs This Week!!.

Good morning!! I am back at work today. I slept a lot yesterday. I feel better, but I feel run down. So, I'll take it easy today. It's almost the weekend! The kids have been busy with all of their stuff. Hubby has been doing some woodworking. That's about it. Stinks feeling icky!  I hope everyone has a great rest of your week!!!

Today we are starting Challenge #227 at Meljen's Designs and for this challenge we have a theme of Laugh Out Loud! (Use A Funny Sentiment). I don't know why, but I always have the hardest time with humor LOL  But here is what I came up with:

I decided to try something different for this creation and I made a File Folder Card. I think it turned out alright! The image I used is Fiesta Diva, which you can find at the Meljen's Designs shop! I cut both the outside and the inside with my Silhouette Cameo. The circle die cut on the inside is from My Favorite Things. I stitched around the file on the inside and I stitched around the two sides of the outside holder. The papers are all from a Club Scrap kit.. very old LOL I made the rosette and topped it with a button that I've had forever and a day. I added the gems around the tab of the inside file and the pearls on the outside folder. I used several different colors of Liquid Pearls to add the random dots.. I wanted it all to match the colors that I colored her. I did do a bit of decoupage on her head, arm and dress.

Copic Markers:
  • Dress: BG05, BG07, BG09, YR04, YR07, YR09, YG01, YG05, YG09, R14, R35, R46
  • Skin: E00, E11, E13, E15
  • Cheeks and Lips: R20, R22
  • Hair: C3, C5, C7, C9

Winners and Midway Post at Open-Minded - Vacation Related.

Good morning everyone and Happy Weekend!!  It is going to be in the 90s today.. Hot! Yuck! Stay home in the air conditioner day LOL My youngest had a birthday on the 24th. We did a bit of celebrating on Thursday, got her hair done on Friday and she has a friend spending the night for the next two days. I think she has had a pretty good birthday! She is the big 1-3!!  Thirteen! A True teenager.. although the attitude has been there for a couple of years already LOL!!  I hope you all have a great weekend!

This morning is the winners post for Challenge #14 at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. At noon you can come back for the midway post to see more inspiration from the team! :)

Our sponsors for Challenge #15 - Vacation Related are:

Here is my creation for the midway post:

I made this little ATC using Ben On A Raft from Ike's Art!! Love this image! And he looks like he is ready for vacation doesn't he? LOL  I colored him with my Copic markers. I decoupaged the mast and his legs.  I decorated the background with white and blue liquid pearls. I stamped the Vacation with some white ink, but then I outlined parts of the letters with my white pen and drew random shapes to give it a sort of graffiti look. I added glitter around the edge and the twine towards the bottom. There is also hand doodled stitching around the edge, hard to see; you can see it better in person.

Copic:
  • Raft Wood: E13, E35, E57, E59
  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13
  • Lemonade: Y11, Y04, Y06
  • Shorts: T3, T5, T7, T9
  • Shirt: BG53, BG15, BG57
  • White: E40, E41, E42

Happy Monday everyone! Here we go with another week. I got a lot done last week at work, so I'm hoping this week will be another productive week. I've had a hard time getting creative, but I was working on it this past weekend. I'm hoping to continue!

So, here is our challenge this week at Tammy's Scrapin Corner! We are on Challenge #76 and the theme this week is to use an Image Containing Food! Here is my card for this challenge:

The image is digi14708 Birthday Fish from Eureka Stamps. I used Copic to color the image. I added Stickles and Liquid Pearls. I used Copic Opaque White as well. I decoupaged the image of course. I used papers from a Bo Bunny Surprise! Collection 6x6 pad and a DCWV Mat Stack cardstock. The stamp Under the Sea by My Thoughts Exactly. After I colored up the fish I used the Colorless Blender to add some texture to the fish.

  • Green: YG06, YG07, YG09
  • Orange: YR00, YR02, YR04, YR06
  • Blue: B21, B23, B24
